$10 Into $100,000

Recommended Posts

OK, so I'm starting with $10 and playing ring game NL hold'em online at PokerStars. A few rules:1. I won't move up in limits unless I have 500 big blinds for that limit. I'm starting at $0.01-$0.02 with a $10 bankroll.2. When possible, my buy in amount will allow me 5 buy ins at that limit. For example, if I have $5 left, my buy in for the game will be $1. I'll continue to do that until I dip below the min buy in.3. I will play only NL cash games. I'll try to play full ring games as much as possible.4. NEW: If I double my bankroll in a session I'll quit on my blind to help avoid risking too high a percentage of my bankroll in any one hand.5. NEW: At about the $5-$10 limit I may decide to increase the number of big blinds required to move up in limits. 500 BB's is plenty for the micro games, but could be rather short for the higher limit games with better opponents. I'll base my decision on when to do that at my discretion.6. NEW: I may also lower the buy in amount for the higher limit games from 1/5th of my bankroll per session to 1/10th of my bankroll per session. Again, I'll make that decision when the time comes.7. NEW: When the amount needed to reach the goal is less than the 1/5th of the bankroll buy in, the buy in will be equal to the amount needed to reach the goal. Example: If 1/5th of the bankroll is $4.50 but you only need $2.50 to reach the goal, the buy in for the next session will be $2.50. The goal is to get to a $100,000 bankroll which would allow me to play $100-$200 NL. I'll still play other things from time to time using a separate bankroll. For example, the $200-$400 HORSE game, etc. I'll track my results in this thread, keeping track if the limit, hands played, and result. I'll also be doing videos of it at PokerVT.com.Limit Hands Played Result Bankroll$0.01-$0.0269 +$1.3776 +$4.9220 -$3.2525 -$2.6061 +$2.2018 +$0.6725 +$0.2464 +$1.7846 +$0.9376 -$3.2543 +$1.3033 +$0.3047 -$0.3065 +$2.7160 +$2.9249 +$4.399 +$0.93====================Total 786 +$15.26 $25.26Money Won Per Hand: $0.019BB/100: 97.07Buy in for next session: NEXT LEVELLimit Hands Played Result Bankroll$0.02-$0.0561 +$9.0583 +$9.4346 -$0.5447 +$2.7415 +4.74====================252 +$25.42 $50.68Money Won Per Hand: $0.101BB/100: 201.75Buy in for next session: NEXT LEVELLimit Hands Played Result Bankroll$0.05-$0.1068 -$10.0026 +$12.1593 +$20.8522 -$10.0048 -$10.0042 -$10.0064 +$9.6530 +$19.1057 +$7.356 +$1.7078 +$12.1520 +$7.3560 +$6.2082 -$0.70106 -$6.5535 +2.3599 +5.9065 +6.0052 +0.6019 -10.0087 -10.0089 +22.8519 +8.95====================1267 +$75.90 $126.58Money Won Per Hand: +0.06BB/100 59.91Buy in for next session: NEXT LEVELLimit Hands Played Result Bankroll$0.10-$0.2559 -$25.0035 +$18.90185 -$24.0064 +$17.8526 +$31.5546 -$25.00117 -$24.009 +$2.9034 +$31.4592 +$21.5589 +$32.7069 -$25.00187 +$22.2052 -$25.0043 -$25.0060 +$36.6573 -$25.0013 -$25.0060 +$49.80188 +$23.2576 -$25.0072 -$25.00158 +$21.4051 -$3.6083 -$25.0040 +$24.3027 -$25.0068 +$29.3036 +$29.2044 -$12.65130 +$7.4557 +$38.9540 +$21.0032 -$5.0032 $-7.5051 +$18.45====================2498 +$127.10 $253.68Money Won Per Hand: +0.051BB/100: +20.35Buy in for next session: NEXT LEVELLimit Hands Played Result Bankroll$0.25-$0.5063 +$18.5052 -$50.0064 -$44.4039 -$35.559 +$47.101 -$37.8539 -$30.3091 +$6.3023 +$29.4530 -$31.3574 -$25.1065 -$20.108 +$39.65133 -$6.8019 -$22.6559 +$21.8568 -$14.0537 +$21.6590 -$0.6517 -$23.8583 +$31.8088 +$26.5074 +$36.45159 -$38.0046 -$30.4038 +$48.5061 -$34.0534 +$35.1041 +$32.95140 -$40.8518 +$43.95121 -$41.45116 -$33.2084 +$26.3092 +$62.57176 -$44.35101 $42.0591 $49.47=====================2544 $15.19 $268.87Money Won Per Hand: +0.006BB/100: +1.19Buy in for next session: $53.75Total Hands Played: 7347Money Won: $258.87Money Won Per Hand: $0.035 When my bankroll gets to $50 I will jump to the $0.05-$0.10 game. Its gonna be so tought I tried something similar and wanted to gouge my eyes out after about 3 weeks. Just give the challenge a break if you feel yourself not playing your best.

And here we thought you had a tough time taking even $2500 tournaments seriously!

If this is true, it won't take him as long as we think to move up limits.

Daniel, any interest in Tom Dwan's million dollar challenge? I only bring this up because I remember your 500k heads up challenge at the Wynn back in the day. I realize 4 tabling 200-400min (nl/plo) + 50k Hands is a whole different animal of course.http://www.bluffmagazine.com/poker-news/To...llenge-1705.htm

I’m making this heads-up challenge to the world. Anyone can accept. Four tables, minimum of $200/$400, and I’ll put up $1.5 million to their $500,000. We play 50,000 hands minimum and if they end up a dollar after rake they keep the side money or whatever. So basically, if you and I played and you won a dollar, you would get my $1.5 million and if I won a dollar I would win your $500,000.“So I’m giving a million dollars free if anyone thinks they can do it.
ya i mean this wasnt supposed to be posted yet but w/e. Anyway... there are obv a few conditions, im out of it- but off the top of my head:1) 200-400min (nl/plo obv)2) can change tables anytime eff stacks are >250bb3) have to reload when stacks are <75bb4) $$ won in the challenge is kept obv (if i win 750k in poker, i get that PLUS your 500k- if i lose 750k in poker you get 2.25m total).5) same stakes the whole time6) not open to phil galfond

I would seriously doubt DN would want to take up any challenge of this magnitutde online. Besides, he only has ~$10 in his account right now. As we know "you can't play with napkins".

I don't think this is what the Bible meant when it tells us to be more like Jesus

One of the more interesting endeavors I've seen. Ferguson's venture was more anecdotal than anything, whereas Daniel's will be documented for PokerVT. If nothing else, it's a lesson in discipline and patience. May the variance be with you!

Good luck. I'm doing a $10 challenge starting today, but only playing .10/360 SNGs.So... for example, if you're playing $1/$2, and you lose, you will never move down to .50/1? I don't think that's going to be very easy. I think LHE would be better for this challenge.
