I have changed out the router (I had a belkin laying around) and I can now connect wired through the router, but the wireless does not seem to work. I turned off the zero config, and downloaded the lastest firmware, but I'm still having issues. Hopefully I can catch you on IM to discuss as to not take away from the true subject of this thread...boobies.jpg

Dear Ouch 8-s,I'm gonna give this another try, even though you last referred me to Google (and I resolved the situation). However, here's my question. Is there a way to run a program, specifically, a web cam and not have it show as running in the main tool bar?Thanks.

not easily, if it isnt coded into the program. one thought is to try running it as a service - firedaemon may or may not be able to do that for you. there may be other 3rd party programs that will hide a program, but i'm not aware of any... dibs on what gets recorded?

Dear Ouch 8-sI want(need) to hook up Xbox live but my router is upstairs and across the whole house. So instead of buying the wireless card for the xbox, is it possible to hook up the xbox to the comp I have downstairs? I have a wireless router at the office comp ustairs and downstairs i have my comp hooked up with a wireless card. I do however have another router sitting around, so is it possible to get the Internet to the downstairs computer through a wireless card and then put that through to my xbox with a different router? Not 100% computer related, but I figured this was easier than calling microsoft. Thanks

its probably possible but i doubt practical, really. ICS (internet connection sharing) on the downstairs box may be the best bet but its not designed for this really.

My roommate used his MacBook to route his xbox's wired connection. It worked--kinda. He couldn't host games and his mic wouldn't work. Oh, and joining games with friends didnt work either. Eventually we just ran a long cable upstairs and put a $10 switch in. Xbox relies on forwarding a few ports and some connection sharing methods don't make that easy.This all contributes to why I won't ever get an xbox. Who doesn't put a wireless adapter in their gaming system by default and makes the addon like $100+?

I dont really want it to route through the laptop, I just need the 2nd router to get internet connection from the first and then hardwire the xbox to the second router. I cant seem to get the second router to get connected. Any ideas?

Hey ouch, I was just watching tv and surfing the web on my laptop, when all of a sudden my laptop just shut off. I tried turning it back on and the power button just flashes a bunch of times but the machine doesn't turn back on. It's not the battery because I had it plugged in while I was on it. Any ideas?

doesn't sound good... i'd google your laptop and "flashing power lights" etc, see if anyone else has had the same problem. could be heat related, esp if it starts to work again later. could be a bad powersupply, or a fried bios, or bad caps on the mobo... lots of possibilities.

Sitting in my hotel room in myrtle beach watching the games and my internet is ****ing with me... I'm connected to the hotel's wireless connection, and everything is working fine, except for the poker sites. Pokerstars, FTP, UB, none work, but I can do whatever else I want to on the internet. I have a friend with me, and he is connected to Stars and FTP just fine, using the same connection. Only difference is he is using Windows XP and I'm using Vista... Anyone know anything I can do to fix this?? Thanks.

Is there any way in Mozilla to block a certain web site from being able to be viewed?
You can block a site at the operating system level by adding the name to the hosts file:E.g., on win2k my C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\etc\hosts reads:127.0.0.1 localhost127.0.0.1 ad.doubleclick.net12.220.125.106 bigchris157.254.98.51 copperhead-router 192.168.123.125 tommy192.168.123.254 router192.168.123.102 printerNotice the second entry is pointing doubleclick.net to 127.0.0.1, which means your own computer. You can add a number of sites in this manner.Smart people probably get around this. If you want a robust solution, you need to intercept the traffic on another host.Edit. Damn it. Beat me.

if you don't want to muck with the hosts file as noted, you can install the adblock plus add-on and block entire sites with it.

I have a regular expression pattern:

pattern1 = ("""PokerStars\s Game\s #w+:\s Hold\'em\s No\s Limit""")

that is only supposed to match Strings looking like this:PokerStars Game #10862831972: Hold'em No Limit ($0.05/$0.10) - 2007/07/10 - 05:03:16 (ET)So why is it also matching Strings that look like this?:PokerStars Game #10846718166: HORSE (Hold'em Limit, $0.50/$1.00) - 2007/07/09 - 08:48:42 (ET)

Okay, so my wife needs a new laptop. She wants to run programs like Dreamweaver but her eMac needs more memory and crap and she would just rather get a new laptop since we have wireless now and the eMac needs airport as well. So she doesn't need a alienware gaming comp but she wants a relatively cheap dual core, 2GB RAM, 160+GB HD computer without any other big bells and whistles. She found a Gateway at Best Buy for $599. * AMD Turion™ 64 X2 mobile technology TL-60* for AMD dual-core technology in a thin-and-light design; HyperTransport™ and AMD PowerNow!™ technologies and improved security with Enhanced Virus Protection** * 2GB DDR2 memory for multitasking power * Multiformat DVD±RW/CD-RW drive with double-layer support records up to 8.5GB of data or 4 hours of video using compatible DVD+R DL and DVD-R DL media; supports DVD-RAM; also supports Labelflash direct-disc labels using compatible Labelflash media * AMD dual-core technology enables you to work or play with multiple programs without impacting performance; AMD64 technology provides simultaneous support for 32-bit and 64-bit computing; 512KB + 512KB L2 cache memory for efficient processing * 14.1" WXGA TFT-LCD widescreen display with Ultrabright technology and 1280 x 800 resolution * 250GB SATA hard drive (5400 rpm) * ATI RADEON X1270 graphics with up to 256MB HyperMemory (total of local and shared memory used by GPU); high-definition audio (2-speaker support); HDMI connection * Metal-style multimedia control panel provides quick access to and control of multimedia and other applications * Built-in 1.3-megapixel Web cam makes it easy to chat with or send video mail to friends and family * 5-in-1 digital media manager supports Secure Digital, MultiMediaCard, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO and xD-Picture Card * 3 high-speed USB 2.0 ports for fast digital video, audio and data transfer * Built-in high-speed wireless LAN (802.11b/g); 10/100 Mbps Ethernet LAN with RJ-45 connector; V.92 high-speed modem * Weighs 5.6 lbs. and measures just 1.3" thin for easy portability; lithium-ion battery and AC adapter * Next-generation industrial design for a sleek look * Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition operating system preinstalled, software package preinstalled with Microsoft Works 9.0, Microsoft Money Essentials, CyberLink Power2Go and moreSo it seems to be able to do what she needs, run dreamweaver and surf the internet wirelessly and start her own live porn channel if she needs too. She has been reading all day about how if you have Vista you can't run Adobe. Is this true? If so, is there an easy fix I can perform to fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated and if I ever run a bracket you will undoubtedly win.
