Warning: Wsop A Fricking Disaster!

Recommended Posts

I really wanted to play in tomorrows event, but I REALLY don't want to stand in line for 3 hours. I may try to get over the there around midnight, but I don't know if the line will be shorter or not. I may just be taking tomorrow off. What a HUGE clusterf*ck the start of this WSOP is turning out to be...After two years experience hosting, you'd think they'd have some idea about what type of crush there is on the opening weekend, but I guess they never learn.
Al did you play in event #1? If you did, how did it go for you?

Quote Russell Rosenblum next to me at the cashiers cage overhearing my argument (who btw, is very short FWIW)..."Didn't you hear, this is their first year hosting the WSOP, cut them some slack"Quote guy behind me in line"What do you expect, Harrahs is the Denny's of the casino world"Quote Director of WSOP Media, Gary Thompson"The problem is, we have a bunch of school district workers who aren't trained properly and work the cashier cage."(cue me: WTF?????)

If there aren't threads already about this, just a warning: the line to get in for Event 3 is over 4 hours long right now.I preregistered online, and my bank transfered the money in to Harrahs.NOT ONLY DOES HARRAHS NOT HAVE ANY RECORD OF ME PREREGISTERING, THEY CANNOT FIND MY MONEY AND ARE CLAIMING IT DIDN'T GET SENT!I have both my confirmation emails from Harrahs, with confirmations codes that have letters in them. Harrahs says none of their codes have letters wtf????I also have my bank transfer information and talked to my bank today and they said they can see the debit from my account and credit into Harrah's account.Anyway, I spent about 2 hours at the cage trying to get this sorted out and basically they took my number and said they would research and call me back. The tourney is fricking tomorrow ARGH!Anyway, confirm early that you're paid and registered is my recommendation. Its a zoo over there.Mark
This is exactly why I refuse to get good enough at poker to play in WSOP events.

Thanks very much for the post and information about the early fiascos. If you plan on being there for any period of time I hope you will update (or start new threads) letting people know if the situation gets better. I pre-registered for event 15 that is next Saturday, and I sure hope the cluster fluck is gone by then. For those of you out there please keep the rest of us not in Vegas posted.

Jeffery Pollack just told us that they are going to fix the feeding system for the registration tommorrow.Players registering for the same days event will have priority and there will be a seperate line for pre-registered people. He's trying to make sure everything gets fixed ASAP.

I'm wondering if I'm even going to be able to get over and play tomorrow...I'm not standing in line for 4 hours just for the right to pay 1500 for that crapshoot. I'm going to head over at Midnight and see if the line is shorter, but otherwise, I might be forced over to Bellagio to play in their Saturday tournament.

I was gonna say "Let me go see, maybe it's not as bad now"But nope, it's still halfway down the hall.

With all these screw-ups, do you think the top poker players could come up with enough money to buy the WSOP from Harrah's?Also, how much could they buy the WSOP for? $50 milllion, $100 million, more?

Any body know the percentage of the buy in Harrah's takes?Seems like it was 12% or something last year...this close?
Harrahs will earn more than the fifth place finisher in Event #1 for event #1. This does NOT include the dealer cut that they also take out of the buy in.I wonder if I'm going to be able to get into tomorrow's event.

Mimi Tran is the best thing about the WSOP. She pulled me out of the four hour line in the hallway and ushered me five people from the frigging window...basically I cut about 400 people in line and was signed up for tomorrow about 12 minutes later. I run good.

haha I can do you one better: My buddy was in line for 4 1/2 hours all morning, and right as my plane landed he got to the cage. He stalled once he got to the teller for about 10 mins so I could get there and cut in with him and ***** about them losing my money. So at least I didn't get stuck in the line....Also, they finally found my money and SUPPOSEDLY its all fixed but we'll see tomorrow. I'm going to just go cut in line at the front and hopefully bypass the masses. I hate lines so much.Mark

Sounds like total train wreckaments. If they have all year to plan for an event that earns them $50 mil you'd think they'd be able to get it right.
