  1. Pot limit Omahoe 8, a game my friend invented. It's a combination of Tahoe (exactly like Texas, only with 3 hole cards) and pot limit Omaha 8. The flop, turn, and river are just the same as with Omaha and Tahoe. You get four hole card just like Omaha, only, like Tahoe/Texas, you can play as many or as few hole cards as you need to give you the best 5-card hand.
  2. I don't know.I'm not a preteen girl, so I don't watch Angel. What?! Believe me, there's plenty of blood, gore, violence and hot chicks (well, as much as you can get on TV) to keep any college guy happy. Plus the writing is much better than most of the crap on TV. Funny thing is I was never into Buffy/Angel when it was on, but I caught a couple of episodes on re-runs and now I'm hooked. All I can say is you're missing out.
  3. I have a better question: Does anyone else think that Lindgren is a dead-ringer for David Boraneaz (Angel)? I mean, he's already got the poker player's pallor, all he needs is to dye his hair black and, bingo, he's got a second career making guest appearances and such.
  4. 2/4 LHE at Paradise, no reads. There are three limpers, EP, MP, and the button when the SB raises. I call (and folded when I completely missed the flop), but for a second it crossed my mind that this might be a good situation to make an isolation re-raise: Does anyone think it might be a good move in this situation, and why or why not?
  5. Actually, I was just playing 2/4 LHE at paradise, had K3o in the bb. Folded to MP player who raises, button calls all-in for his last 2.50 and SB folds, I fold (d'oh!). Flop comes KKK. Turn 5, river 2, MP wins with AJs vs. A8s. At least my implied odds were pretty low so I don't feel too bad about it, but I don't think I'll be folding my next K3 in the BB...I might even re-raise. 8)HAHAHAHAHHAHA sucker fishPINCH PINCH, PINCH PINCHI know, I know. I shall never again doubt the great powers of Krablar. Please, fo-give-a-ness. *bows humbly*
  6. Actually, I was just playing 2/4 LHE at paradise, had K3o in the bb. Folded around to MP who raises, folded to button who calls all-in for his last 2.50 and SB folds, I fold (d'oh!). Flop comes KKK. Turn 5, river 2, MP wins with AJs vs. A8s. At least my implied odds were pretty low so I don't feel too bad about it, but I don't think I'll be folding my next K3 in the BB...I might even re-raise. 8)
  7. Stop-and-go in NLHE usually refers to all-in bets, in which you make a substantial raise/re-raise pre-flop (for example) with the intention of moving all-in regardless of what comes on the flop, as opposed to simply moving all-in pre-flop. At least that's what I've been led to believe, could be wrong.
  8. Honestly, all he sees is the ace (the face-card kicker just sweetens it). I was involved in a pre-flop all-in, QQ vs. A8o, and after the hands were flipped over the player with A8o said "Good, I like that". In other words, he'd rather have his hand than mine. I guess, in his mind, he thought that as long as I don't have and ace with a better kicker, he's ahead. I hope that gives you a better idea of how these people 'think'.
  9. Man, I don't care. You're pros, I'm a fish; you're going to WSOP, I'm going broke in my next home game. And there's no collusion online, I made the whole thing up.Happy now?
  10. Excuse me if I don't feel like sharing every hand I've ever played with people who really don't care to read about it.
  11. The funny thing is I've seen two players colluding in a SNG and neither made the money (again, by 'seen' I mean in person, standing next to one of them as they were talking on the phone to the other). But I've also seen steriod users hit .212. Doesn't make it right. I don't know how much colluding there is online vs. live but I know it exists and I know a few people who get away with it on a regular basis. What I don't know is anyone who's ever been caught colluding. And, btw, I'm not losing online. I'm not winning as much as I do live but I'm definately winning. In fact, in my last
  12. Believe whatever you want. I guess when I see people at their computer talking to each other over the phone about their hands while their playing at the same table isn't collusion.
  13. There is collusion online, I know this first hand (but don't ask me to name name's). In fact there are people who do this exclusively: you send them the buy-in money and they work with you and you split the winnings 50/50. Collusion is too easy to do online, and too hard to catch (but I do geniunely believe that most sites do their best to try to catch them).Saying there's no collusion online is like saying there's no steriod use in pro sports. If you want to catch these people you're going to have to do your part to point these people out the site.
  14. I guess different players have different rationales, but for example the BB situation, when you only have to 150 more and you're already in for 300, I'd call with almost anything there. The small stack is basically doubling up any way. Like I said, at this point the short stack is desperate to double-up, so chances are you're not a huge underdog if at all. The other points might be debatable depending on the specifics of the situation, but I think the overall advantage of eliminating another player far outway the advantages of protecting a few chips, especially if you're the big stack. And
  15. How can you root for a billionaire? Life hasn't been good enough to him?
  16. I sat down at a limit HE sng instead of my usual NLHE, and didn't realize it unlit the dealer said 'shuffle up and deal' and we were each given 800 chips instead of 1000. Man, was I pissed (since I didn't know the strategy involved in a limit HE SNG)....until I finished 2nd. :-) Don't you just love a happy ending?BTW, I think you should always sit and watch for a bit before joining a cash game; get a feel for the table (and avoid careless mistakes like yours).
  17. Maybe this is all old news to the people on this forum, maybe it isn't, but it's something I've got to get off my chest all the same because it's really getting ridiculous. One of the most frustrating things about playing sit 'n' gos is being stuck with a bunch of idiots who don't have even the most basic understanding of late game strategy with regards to knocking out the small stack(s). One of the most frequent examples of this is in the middle or late stages, when two or more players are in a hand against the short stack's all-in, and one of the players tries to bluff or semi-bluff the o
  18. I only consider myself pot commited in freezeout tournaments and SNGs (where I just can't afford to lose 50%+ of my stack and double someone else up without a fight). Feel free to disagree, but I don't think there's such a thing as being pot commited in side games. You're there to make money, so if you know you're behind why call and throw away more money? Obviously, it depends on how far behind you think you are, and what the pots laying you, but most of the time it's best just to cut your losses.
  19. http://www.pokertop10.com/online-poker-rooms.htmlI haven't tried too many, I've pretty much stuck with paradise. Lately they've been having server problems, but I think that's cleared up. If you're trying to find a site where you don't get 2-outed and 3-outed on a regular basis, look for the Holy Grail while you're at it. Online, you're going to get idiots chasing if they hit any part of the flop: this is a good thing. Sure, they hit sometimes, but just keep playing smart and the law of averages is on your side, regardless of what site you play on.You get a pretty good mix of players on p
  20. Bozo the clown (or any clown for that matter). Seeing him staring me down from across the table with a huge grin on his face would just freak me out.
  21. It's true I play more no limit than limit, but I'm no stranger to limit. I guess I just don't go on tilt--I'm not bragging, I've just had so many bad beats online it just doesn't bother me anymore. I was just using simple logic: since 'tilt' is a temporary emotional state, I would assume that the protection that limit affords would give you time to get over it. Just as you said, you would need a string of bad decisions to really get hurt, whereas in no limit you only need one. I guess I can see your point too though, where it might be easier to let yourself go in limit.
  22. Actually it was Paradise. It depends on how long the game takes; if people are busting each other left and right, by the time it gets heads up the blinds might still be manageable. But it takes a while to bust people out in Omaha 8, so it's more of a problem.Since we're on the topic, am I the only one that thinks there should be a restriction on raising the blinds past a certain point? I mean, you out play 10 other players for an hour or so to get into the money, and then the most important part is decided on a coin flip/crapshoot? And it's not just SNG's either, it's tournaments, too. Ju
  23. You know, judging by your avvy I would've thought you had more of a sense of humour. Well, we'll find out soon enough, won't we? If we were talking pros vs. amatuers, I would agree, but I just don't buy that there's that much of a difference between, say, Gus Hansen and Howard Lederer to really make it a deal breaker. It's really just a question of who's playing their absolute best on that day. You definately want to choose someone who's usually emotionally and psychologically balanced, so you're less likely to catch him/her on a bad day. Someone who's known for having really bad
