  1. Cause I'm the Doctor of Excess......that and they're my initials...
  2. Oh, it can be...it's my new favorite stop if I want to pick up a few hundred big bets in an hour.
  3. I'm not dyslexic, but the same thing often happens to me on this board. I can't tell you how many times I saw "Howard Lederer ppm" and read "Howard Lederer porn." After cringing, I'd then read it correctly.
  4. I wear a hat with the same logo as my avatar. It's not particularly lucky, just my poker hat.
  5. The first time I played Texas Hold 'Em, I lost the biggest pot of the night betting into a full house when I though I had a full house. My cards came as quite a surprise when I flipped them up. They were way different than what I thought they were. Wishful thinking perhaps. It was also the last time I drank to any extent during a game...online microlimits not included. Not quite the same thing, but same idea I suppose.

    how old part ii

My grandfather taught me 5 card draw and 7 card stud when I was about five. We played for pennies and basically remember breaking even...though he'd often spot me the buy in. The standard bet was two cents, we almost never raised, and if I bet three, he'd fold. I was a smart kid, but didn't catch on to how I could use that to my advantage. Since he taught me so young, I'm teaching by nephew, who is currently six. Of course, he's a long way off from learning the mathematics and the subtleties of the game, but I'd say he's already better than the guy who called down my made aces full of jacks
  7. Live at San Quentin...isn't that the album by the Lone Rangers?Just kidding...but isn't it?
  8. Hah...got the Bruschi right...but for some reason it's Tedy.Anyway, this is an odd development for me and many others from the New England area. I could say I grew up with the Patriots, but I really didn't. First and foremost, it is Sox territory, but equally as important, they just weren't on TV enough. Back when they were the laughingstock of the league (except for maybe the Colts...things were different then) the home games were often blacked out...or that's at least what I remember. So my first exposure to the team was that they couldn't even sell enough tickets to get the game on TV. Whil
  9. $1,130,013 * .10 = $113,001.30 $113,001.30 * .01 = $1,130.00I know that's not what you mean, just what you said. Anyway, let's just get back to poker. Yes, Gus put on a show today. Yes, he did so in an unconventional way, taking many risky chances. Yes, he had the chip stack to take such risks. I don't claim to know how Gus will fare in the future or how the other pros will adjust to his style. I'm content to just sit back at watch. It beats doing the math on horse earnings.
  10. Certainly made the last card a bit of a surprise (even if there wasn't enough time left in the show for Gus to blow it).
  11. From the opposite camp...I just withdrew from my Poker Stars account for the first time. Since then I went on one incredible run of cards and am on my biggest rush since I started playing. Heh...maybe they're afraid that they'll lose my business.
  12. Now, I never had a problem with Smash before, but this goes too far. Oh well, I'll still watch anyway...
  13. At the home game I play, it's not the women at the table that have an impact, but the one that isn't. Whenever one of my friends is up in chips, someone will remind him of his recently failed relationship, get him a beer, and then watch him tilt away all his chips. He usually forgives us.
  14. Yeah, I think you're right about it being 19 in BC. My recollection of that trip is a bit hazy...
  15. Oddly enough, I was just dealt 95o three times in a row...
  16. Right...plug 3/51 into my calculations and that'll fix things...
  17. It drives me crazy when people bluff into a dry side pot. However, the two important things to remember here is that it was early and you weren't bluffing. If this took place on the bubble, then I can see how the other guy would be irritated as your bet and his fold cut down on the chances of the all-in to be eliminated. When it's early that doesn't matter. You need to build your stack and you've got a hand, so why not make him pay to see more. You increase your chances of winning the main pot and give yourself an opportunity to siphon off some of your opponent's holdings.Next time, tell that
  18. If you're looking to find the odds of getting any two offsuit cards three times in a row, the equation looks like:(36/51)*((8/52) * (4/51))^2 The first bit gives us an unsuited, unpaired hand. The second part gives it to us twice more.If I didn't screw up, this is roughly 9,730 to 1. For a specific hand, such as 86o, we have the following.((8/52) * (4/51))^3This is far more unlikely at roughly 569,259 to 1. Hope this answers the question and is correct. Corrections are most welcomed.
  19. It's 18 in British Columbia. I went to a casino when I visited there a while ago before my poker days. It was a very weird experience. Within 3 minutes we were being followed and within 5 we were gone...Had I played poker, I'm sure the visit would have been better unless my very inebriated chum decided to make a scene...which is what he did at the next 2 places we went...Anyway, 18 in BC.
  20. Nah dude....third at the worst. Think of how much fun it'd be. It'd totally bring the forum together.Nice avatar jakoye. It may be my new forum favorite.
  21. Thanks for taking the time to do this. I'm looking forward to reading more. And I wouldn't recommend mixing games when multitabling either.
  22. I really, really, really hate this. Just today this happened in a Sit N' Go. 4 left, 3 pay. Flash forward a few hands and I'm getting busted by the former short stack...
  23. Well, I'm graduating school quite soon and will desperately need a justification of my existance. Also, I can participate in Daniel's place whenever he can't psych himself up for one of those $1,000 buy in tournaments.
  24. Tell him it's 2/3, then play again.
