was rereading through some of the archives at P5's and came across this excerptAlways show class at the poker table. Some players may improve their game and put other's off by acting like a jerk, but that's not for me. You get one life to live and creating a good atmosphere will make you a happier person on and away from the table. You don't need to make friends with everyone, but being a jerkoff is not good for the soul. Try and emulate the pros with class and not the know-it-alls.so I was wondering who you all consider the top 3 classiest pros? my list would be:1. Barry Greenstein2. Hoyt Corkins3. Harry Demietriou (sp?)thoughts?

I don't think I've seen anyone take a bad beat better than BG. I'd also have to include Doyle and Jen Harman on the list of classy players. Oh, and Sean Sheikhan. No, wait, he's on the other list.

certainly more classy than his successor. Raymer was classy until he put himself into the wpt lawsuit fray.

You do know that Hachem was also involved in the WPT lawsuit right?

Harry D is one of the classiest poker pros in the world. He took that horrible, horrible two-out beat that ultimately cost him his first WPT title with a smile on his face and a classy handshake to the amateur that beat him. I couldn't have handled the situation that well, and I can't even imagine the nuclear event we would have seen if someone like Hellmuth got two outed for the title. He's my nominee as one of the finest ambassadors the poker community possesses.

Howard is all class. After his set of sevens went down to Doyle's flush draw deep in the 2004 main event, all he said was a genuine "Nice hand, Dolly." His commentary is always great too.His sister, on the other hand.......

Chris Ferguson.WPT Final Table he loses with AA vs AT allin preflop and walks away saying something to the effect of 'well, I've given my fair share of beats and what comes around goes around.'

Barry, Doyle, and Howard LedererNever see any of these guys ever criticize the play of someone else when they take a bad beat. Usually just take it with a smile on their face and congratulate their opponent.

1. Tony G2. Phil Hellmuth3. Mike MatusowWhat a pointless topic, easy to know the three pros with the most glass.Maybe even Shaun Sheikan up there.
I didn't know they were into glass collecting. :club:

As much as I respect Doyle, I've definitely seen him rub a good hand in people's faces before. Not to the extent that Sheik or TonyG do it, but still. As far as not blowing up on a bad beat, after 60 years of them I'll probably just shrug them off too.<grin>

QFT. Ferguson is also a great example of someone who proves you can be colorful and interesting away from the table without being mean-spirited or an *sshole. He's a real original! Greenstein, Brunson, Lederer...yep. We should all be like that. Conducting yourself with dignity and maturity is a goal worth shooting for.

Thanks man.My philosophy is that it's only money, and besides I have a hired gun to roll the guy on the way home so I get my money back anyway. Much easier to ignore the bad beats when you know you're getting the money anyway.Sometimes I have them beat up the dealer too if it was a really bad beat.

I've seen Hachem talk to down to his opponents (especially younger people) I used to think Hachem was all class but I've seen a handful of incidents where his ego was out of control. I no like him no more. Surely I'm not the only one who has seen these antics. Aussie Millions comes to mind.FWOW... Barry G I by a land slide..

I say Ferguson over Barry. And as for the OP, Hoyt? Meh, not particularly, though he's not bad or anything. And as for Harry, nice guy, sure, and he might take a beat well, but then he goes and says something about it later. He's not on my list, sorry.

I thought Brian Townsend handled himself with class on HSP. Names that also spring to mind are Daniel Negreanu (he got appaling luck on HSP 1 & 2), Ted Forrest and of course Barry Greenstein (took a sick beat by Farha for $400,000 on HSP 1 and took it with class).

Good point. For what it's worth, I'd say the exact same thing about Phil Gordon.
