Cant believe Nog/Velasquez is the headliner for 108. A good co main event yes but not the headliner in what is traditionally one of the biggest shows of the year.
Agreed, even with Silva/Evans as a co-main event, it's still not that strong. Didn't last year's late December card have Griffin/Evans, Nogueira/Mir, AND Wanderlei/Rampage?Guess they were really banking on Lesnar's illness disappearing.

They have no other options for a 108 main. Lyoto can't get to a rematch that quickThey wanted Anderson vs. Vitor but Anderson isn't ready.GSP's torn ligament isn't readyBrock's sick.Still a damn good card * Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Cain Velasquez * Rashad Evans vs. Thiago Silva * Junior Dos Santos vs. Gabriel Gonzaga* * Carlos Condit vs. Paul Daley* * Tyson Griffin vs. Jim Miller*

Still some solid fights no doubt. I think the UFC made a big mistake in not cancelling the Memphis show as soon as Quentin pulled out. They spread there top end talent to thin with all the shows between Oct 24 and Feb 21. A couple of injuries/illnesses and none of the cards are really stacked and there really isnt any real blockbuster ME outside of maybe BJ/Diego.

Yay UFC 105 is on cable!Couture fights are always awesome, I don't care how old he is. I think he has a great shot against Vera. I also like watching Mike Swick fight. It would be fun if Bisping got dropped again. Don't see that happening though. Also, the 2 British TUF winners are fighting, both the guys they are up against don't have great records though. Obviously the fights are in England lol.

maybe old news, but I didn't see it anywhere -- according to Dana, Brock Lesnar is in bad shape, with something more serious than monohttp://tsn.ca/mma/story/?id=298377
Wow and now Cain/Nog is off with another staph infection for Nog. I wouldnt be suprised if Lesnars liver is ****ed from roid abuse. I know a guy who did roids and he got really ****ed up with a liver condition at about that age. Liddell might have to come back now.

gg brock? http://middleeasy.com/index.php?option=com...rs&Itemid=1

The UFC 105 post-fight press conference happened and after Dana White made his Brock Lesnar announcement, the results of tonight's fight seemed irrelevant. Dana White stated that Brock Lensar has a potential career ending illness and he may be stripped of his title. Bet you didn't see that one coming when you woke up with a hangover on your friend's sofa this morning. This may be the end for the UFC heavyweight, an end that leaves Shane Carwin clinching his XXXXXL hands. Inside Fights breaks the news via a guy named Rob. The big news from the UFC Press Conference had nothing to do with tonight’s fights. To a stunned press pack, Dana White announced that Brock Lesnar is not only struggling to recover from mono but that after a recent trip to Canada he has developed further health problems and is currently back in hospital. He refused to give more details about the nature of these health problems except that they were serious. In response to a direct question about what this meant for the future of the heavyweight championship Dana White raised the possibility of an interim championship or even stripping Lesnar of the title. He said that he will be meeting with Lesnar and his people next week to decide what the future holds for the UFC Heavyweight Champion and the championship he currently holds.

Thought that the spike card was kinda meh. But it was free. One fight I really want to see is Alves vs Hardy. That imo is the right fight. GSP vs Hardy is kinda silly.
I thought the first 3 fights were really good the Swick/Hardy was meh and Couture/Vera was a snoozefest. I really enjoyed the Bisbing/Kang fight and was really impressed with Bisbing and his performance in the position chess match on the ground in the first. He kept Kang so busy battling for position that he couldnt inflict any damage from the top. Brown/Wilk was also very good and Brown is deffinatly a good gatekeeper in his division. Couture/Vera was a letdown but judging from how boring Vera has been for 2 years now and with Randy's style I guess we shouldnt have expected much. I dont have a problem with the decision but thought it could have gone either way. If the criteria for judging really is effective striking, grappling and octagon control I think Randy deffinatly had the grappling and octagon control in his favor. Hardy/GSP is a huge mismatch and I have no intrest in it. I saw talk today that GSP and Hardy might be coaches for TUF 11 which would suck tying up GSP for that long just for a mediocre fight in June or July. I think the time is right For GSP to have a fight at 185 against a Bisbing or Maia while the rest of the ww division has some fights between the top 4 (Alves, Hardy, Fitch, winner of Kos/Rumble) to determine a legitimate contender. Not necessarily a tournament just 2 fights between the top 4 and who ever of the 2 winners looks better gets the first shot. If one of those guys drops out for some reason throw Paulo Thiago in the mix.

Apparently the AP is saying Brock's condition is 'bacterial infection' related. Not sure what that means, if it could relate to the kidney failure or what. Hopefully he gets back and better ASAP.Man, the UFC has been so ****ed recently. Insane. And I agree Hardy doesn't make sense for GSP, but who else is there? I guess AJ works with a Kos win. Or if Kos KO's AJ, maybe him over Hardy? IDK, maybe GSP should pack it in at 170 here shortly and just head to 85 for good.

I'm just hoping that Ortiz/Griffin II and Penn/Sanchez get through without a hitch. So many big fights have been postponed in the last month, it's unreal.

Read on Junkie GSP is walking around at 197 right now 12lbs more than his usual walk around weight. A 1 off 185 appetizer fight against anyone but Marq,Vitor, AS makes so much sence right now with that division bogged down aswell.

I forgot about the Brown fight. Brown is one those fighters that truly amazes me every time I see him. He gets out of crazy subs and has sooo much heart. He is a true mma fighter through and through. Tons of respect for that kid. I hope that one day he develops and gets a shot.Johnson has the tools to beat GSP. He just doesn't have the experience yet. Hardy is similar to Alves. Hardy has a lot of power and a great chin. But he is waaay too inexperienced to take this fight. It's sad really. I mean if and when he loses he has to really work his way back up. And he's just not ready. Of course like everyone elese, he can knock GSP out. But he has yet to do that in his last 3 fights.GSP, Silva and Penn are true champions in there respective divisions. I just don't see anyone who can beat them. I think that Marquardt actually has the tools to pull an upset. But it would be a hell of a grind. Johnson should eventually be able to beat GSP. Kos will be a good test to see if he can hande the takedowns.Penn vs Sanchez is a bad match for Sanchez. I know that Sanchez believes that he can win. But everything that Sanchez can do, Penn does better. Similar to Florian. Again, very dominant belt holders in the light, welter and middlweight spots.

Sigh TSN which ussually has the WEC events live decided not to have this one despite having 2 channels. No chance Kimbo gets in next week. They would have hyped it up if he did for another ratings boom.

UFC boss faces biggest promotional test By Dan Wetzel, Yahoo! Sports Nov 18, 6:18 pm EST Dana White was supposed to spend this week promoting his Ultimate Fighting Championship 106 card at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. It was to star his biggest box office draw, heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar.Instead White flew Tuesday to Bismarck, N.D., showed up at the local hospital and found Lesnar, in heavy post-op sedation, while family and friends fretted about the future.Lesnar had surgery to help solve a bacterial infection in his intestinal tract that helped cause the postponement of Saturday’s fight against Shane Carwin and left his long-term future in doubt.“The family was worried big time, they were freaking out,” White, the UFC president, said Wednesday. “Brock was in big pain, he was hurting.“We don’t know if he’ll ever fight again.”White cautioned that things could still go either way. He could fight. He could not. No one knows at this point. Lesnar was resting Wednesday at his home in Alexandria, Minn. and was scheduled to visit the famed Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. early next week for a battery of tests.“He had a hole in his intestine,” White said. “The (stuff) was leaking into his stomach. That’s what was causing him so much pain. That and he had abscesses.“The doctor told him he hasn’t been right for a year. His immune system has been trying to fight this thing and that’s why he was susceptible to getting sick.”That likely explains Lesnar’s original diagnosis of mono. He had been weakened to the point that he was unable to train for the Carwin fight for much of October. That prompted the original delay in the fight. Then last week, the intestinal problem flamed up and Lesnar was hospitalized.“We’ll find out more next week,” White said. “We’re going to send him to the Mayo Clinic for a couple of days. I don’t know what to say. It’s looking better now than last week, but what that means, I don’t know.”White said no decision would be made on setting up an interim heavyweight championship until he knew how long Lesnar might be out.For White, the Lesnar illness is just the latest bit of unfortunate news for his promotion. After a record-setting summer highlighted by a reported 1.6 million pay per view buys for UFC 100 on July 11, which Lesnar headlined, there’s been a rash of injuries, illnesses and bad luck.Lesnar is just one of three champions who have been forced to sit out for an extended period. Middleweight Anderson Silva is recovering from elbow surgery but will fight in February and welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre is still coming back from a groin injury. In addition, light heavyweight draw Rampage Jackson bailed on a highly anticipated December fight with Rashad Evans to play “B.A. Baracus” in the “A-Team” remake. Jackson said he’s retired, although who knows how long that will last. Veteran heavyweight Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira is recovering from a staph infection. And popular former PRIDE champion Dan Henderson is unlikely to re-sign with the UFC, and could be heading for rival Strikeforce.“This sounds crass but when you’re dealing with humans as your product, crap happens,” White said. “It’s no different in football or baseball. I always say, the only guarantee when my big toe hits the floor in the morning is that something bad is about to happen.”White is rightfully hailed as a skilled fight promoter. He’s been the front man as the UFC has gone from bleeding millions to being worth an estimated $1 billion. He’s in the midst of proving it like never before. There’s no better example than Saturday’s UFC 106, which had its Lesnar-Carwin main event postponed and then its other top fight, Tito Ortiz vs. Mark Coleman, get switched due to a Coleman injury.Ortiz is now returning to the Octagon against Forrest Griffin, a rematch of a hotly contested 2006 match won by Ortiz on a split decision.Likewise, headline fights were dropped from both December and January pay-per-view cards. And the current season of Spike TV’s the Ultimate Fighter, taped last summer, is promoting a fight between coaches (Evans and Jackson) that won’t happen any time soon.“It’s about the fights, though,” White said. “The one thing no one can ever say is that we don’t deliver good fights. People always look at a card and say it’s not going to be any good. Then it ends up being the best card of the year. Just because Brock Lesnar is not in the main event doesn’t mean there won’t be great fights.“If you’re a fight fan you want great fights. We deliver great fights.”This all true, however there is no denying the impact of losing star fighters for extended periods. That’s especially the case with a crossover sensation like Lesnar.White, however, points to the television ratings from last Saturday’s UFC 105, which was shown on basic cable’s Spike TV and performed better in the young men demographics than the Nov. 7 Strikeforce card on CBS.Although the Strikeforce card, featuring its big heavyweight draw, Fedor Emelianenko, produced far greater overall numbers, White says he won the male 18-34 demo by 49 percent.“And we had to go up against a big boxing match (Manny Pacquiao-Miguel Cotto) and college football, which we also beat in the demo,” White said. This is White at his best, somehow spinning one of the most challenging recent stretches for the company into a positive.Long-term, the UFC will be fine. White will have Silva and St. Pierre return in 2010. He said Lyoto Machida will give a rematch for his light heavyweight belt to Mauricio Shogun Rua on May 1 in Montreal. Machida won a close decision last month in Los Angeles. And with Brock Lesnar, who knows? If he does return, he’ll likely be more popular than ever.“If he’s done what he’s done at less than 100 percent, then imagine how he’ll be if he is 100 percent,” White noted. At this point, White said he was just pleased that the health scare doesn’t seem to be worsening and there’s hope that with proper treatment, Lesnar should be able to live a healthy life.As for Lesnar’s future as a fighter, even for Dana White, that’s a secondary concern.

I soooo wanted the see Dustin Hazelett, or whatever his last name is. His last fight before injury, he put a super slick submission on somebody. I like that kid. He's for real. Then again, I said that about Maia. So heartbroken when my BJJ guys get crushed.and I agree on the Kimbo thing, they woulda hyped the balls outta him if he was fighting next week. BTW, when does that ep air?
