Going To Canada..should I Go To Windsor Or Niagra Falls?

Recommended Posts

Alright, so I told my girlfriend for her birthday we would go to florida in early jan..but problems happend and that fell thru..so yesterday she brought up canada, so of course I was excited, since im 20 and its 19 there for cards and drinking. So we are planning on going just for 3-4 nights, and plan to spend new years there. We are right in chicago, so windsor is close(5 hr 20 min) and then I looked into niagara falls (9 hr 20 min) which is also def. driveable. Which casino is better? How is the play?Since this trip is not all about the poker, which city is just better for the girlfriend with things she will enjoy more? Since windsor seems a little dull besides casino. Anyone been to either location on new years? Any advice or stories where to go?hotel mentionings at either city?Is 3-4 nights too much time? too little time??Entertainment?? Attractions?Overall which would be the better destination?? Thanks much guys.

If she's into going to the clubs, windsor's pretty fantastic. You can also take her to the world famous windsor ballet and be her hero. :club:

Ive never been to niagra but windsor is a pretty nice poker room. They recently changed their no limit tables to rake instead of session fees, which is nice because you wont get blinded away looking for good hands against maniacs. Also they have a 200 min/max game 1/2 blinds. Which is much better than the 100 max 1/2 blind game. Gives you a little more room, but obviously still not a good amount when the raises preflop are between 12-20. The clubs are alot of fun as well, so It would be a good time for sure. One question: when you go, can you go to an arbys and tell me if they have a roast chicken club sandwich? THanks alot

bizzle is reading this thread, he knows whats up.Personally, niagara casino is very nice, I didnt play the cash games though..Niagara falls is beautiful if you've never been, and its probably amazing this time of year...the drive might be hard though, for sure you'll run into tons of snow.

Damn you might be right, I didn't even think about that. I am really leaning towards Niagra now, looks like a really nice city, with lots to do.

You may want to check out some of the Hotel prices in Niagara Falls, a room on New Year's Eve is going to be expensive.

Also, if you are going to drive you probably should cross at Windsor and drive through Canada to Niagara Falls if snow is a concern since the US side of Lake Erie gets more snow then the Canadian side because of the Lake Effect.

Windsor is the armpit of Canada. It's close to you, and it'd be much cheaper than NF. The advantages end there. It's a shithole, the Detroit of Canada. Even if NF hotels are 10x the Windsor ones, Niagara Falls is a much, much better choice. The falls themselves are pretty freaking cool as well.

when did this happen?
it did'nt they run a 200 max with 2-5blinds with a 7 dollar session fee and a 100 max with 1/2 blinds and a rake??? But windsor is a solid poker room and a fun town to party in, theres lots of clubs for new years depending on what you like. Niagara has a bigger 500 max game with 2-5 blinds but from what I hear the wait in niagara at fallsview can be long. Also the Casino has just been renovated with a few new bars and it looks awesome.

Should'nt be too much snow difference from chicago if you come through Windsor as stated by Bob aka "the man"

Windsor is a hole, but should be experienced atleast once. I went once for a bachelor party and the poker room is decent, only hold em though. I recommend getting lit up and playing the pony race track on the second floor, hours of entertainment. Windsor is basically the casino, a couple of hotels, and two streets, one with dive clubs and strip clubs, and the other with nothing but drunk food joints. I strongly recommend getting some lebanese shwarma if you are there, for some reason they do it perfect in canada. I can also recommend super sizing your mcdonalds french frys to pootine, no joke, i about fell out of my car when i got asked that. Strip clubs are nothing special, but if you do not mind getting haggled by those lose college students who make a buck by begging people to come to the bar they are sponsoring, go for it.

i can't believe there's even a debate about this.i used to goto windsor regularly and i've also been to niagara a number of times so this is coming from experience.for poker, sight seeing, clubbing, hotels, strippers and food you go to Niagara AINECbut here's the thing...you're literally doubling your drive time and you have to consider the drive back. Windsor has all the things you're looking for...you just have to ask yourself whether the added time in the car is worth the increase in quality.

Yep.All true. Niagra has WAY more to do. Windsor (while superior to Detroit) really isn't that much of a town. No real shopping. Just a Casino and a few good bars. Chicago is such a world class town I'd say you be quite disappointed. Does Toronto have a Casino. Toronto is a world class town that is much like Chicago.

No permanent Casino that is legal in Toronto. I'm guessing you're not looking for the underground scene. But yeah, if there's life beyond the casino then Toronto's a good place for fun and only 60-90 min. drive from Niagara.
