That's a bit too strong. Dimarco and Toms are not weak players. They are very good players. Cink and Chad Campbell are also very accomplished players as is Verplank. The others are a bit of a mystery as to how they will perform under the pressure and spotlight of the Ryder Cup. I agree that Europe should win, but don't be surprised if the US pulls it off. It wouldn't be that big of an upset.

I think the conventional wisdom sadly underestimates the US. The US has two pairs that figure to win a more than a majority of the points they play for. Then there's David Toms and Chad Campbell, I figure them to at least split their matches. That leaves Verplank and Cink -- real grit paired with a great putter, Wetterich is a bomber that should be good in fourball, JJ Henry is playing the best golf of his life, Vaughn Taylor and Zach Johnson should be a very good foursomes team. Overall, I think the US will have the lead going into the singles (9-7 or something like that). Europe is deeper than they have ever been. I think they will do better than their historical average in singles as a result. However, I think the US team's best players will beat their European counterparts in the singles causing a split at worst there.Final score: US 15 Europe 13Go low --Burgerman

as a professional looper (you know a pro jock) If anyone wants to motgage their house bet the UK team. LOCK OF THE CENTURY!Tiger's worried about his girl. Lefty has shut it down. Toms is a little hurt. Cink is hitting it sideways. Furyk is ugly. The only guy with anything good going is Chris Dimarco. Forget about the rooks on team. UK will have it pretty much closed out after two days.

The whole Tiger Woods debacle for the Dubliner makes for an interesting dynamic at the Ryder Cup. Tiger obviously didn't take kindly to the porn references made about his wife. I bet this motivates the heck out of him, not that he needs much individual motivation. What's interesting to me is what does it do to his "team mentality", that is, does he decide to exert his imposing influence to motivate his teammates? Does the Dubliner crap make Tiger hungrier to win the Cup? I think that he will dominate, that he will decide to become the leader on the team and the team will rally behind him to win the Cup. I would love to hear from others.

I think you are right about the incident in the press. Although I don't think Tiger needed more motivation this week, he now has it. I expect the US to play VERY well. Here's how I think it goes:Tiger/Furyk & Mickelson/DiMarco win 6 of 8 possible points Fri/SatRest of team win 3 of 8 possible points Fri/SatSingles are split -- 6-6US Wins 15-13Best --Burgerman
