High Stakes Poker Hosts

Okay, seriously--what is the deal with Kaplan and Benza on GSN? I'm not sure if they think their banter is funny or what, but it's just an odd way to end the show, especially tonight. Just give a little side commentary and sign off at the end of the show.

I still can't tell if they're serious or if it's a big joke for them. Also, what do people think about having a person at GSN track the props? I think Benza mentioned having a producer. But isn't the point of props that if you don't catch it, then you're not credited for it? i'm not really sure how it works. Any thoughts?

I enjoyed tonight's references to Dorothy Parker and the Algonquin Round Table. I wasn't expecting them and it was a pleasant surprise."...and so to good I never comeInseparable, my nose and thumb" Dorothy Parker

I think Gabe Kaplan is really good. He's funny and he's been commentating poker for a really long time so he normally knows what he's talking about (although he has made a few questionable comments this season on HSP, imo).

He has also been playing poker for a really long time...I like Kaplan, he isn't always as funny as he seems to think he is, but his jokes are mostly fine, and his comments on the plays are interesting.

Kaplan wasn't suggesting the producers track the props. Kaplan was suggesting the producer ban the props so the players would focus on the poker. Props are hard to explain to the audence (I'm on for doubles against you and Triples against Eli), impossible to follow if you don't show every hand and occassionally slows the game down. Personally I don't mind it much since it seems to make the show more realistic. I can see though where some would be annoyed.

Kaplan is not funny and in a handful of cases every show misses the possibilities of someone's hand...those 2 deserve each other...they both suck....if any of you think kaplan is funny, you ave ZERO sense of humor...
I disagree, Kaplan is easily the best poker announcer there is. He has his funny moments, and his analasys is the best around. He is the only poker announcer that actually tells you what he believes each player is thinking, and bout 90% of the time he is correct.

that was pretty much the most incorrect statement I have read on this board in quite a while...yea, Kaplan is so great at nailing what people has when he says.."ya know, I am pretty sure he must think his opponent has a medium pair, possibly AK, QQ, possible straight draw, or maybe even a possible flush draw"..boy, he really steps out on a limb there doesn't he?give me an f'ing break..the guy states the obvious the majority of the time...please...

ok..ive watched each HSP espisode from both seasons atleast 10x each and trust me his analysis of players thoughts on each hand is better than any other announcer

I agree with you...(other than Howard Lederer) but more importantly.....you've watched 200+ hours of HSP?
