High Stakes Poker

I think it would make for more interesting Tv. They should play like they do at the "Big Game." Mixed game, 2k or 4k blinds. The tv audience would see some real poker rather than the all-in-fest that has become televised poker.
bright idea, mixed games on tvs.GO to the casino if you want mixed games

I think a 2 hour show would give more depth to it & time to see the development of the game play. I doubt they would consider other games due to the way they play out & for editing reasons. Omaha, stud etc start with multi-way pots & work down to a conclusion slower than HE. I believe this is why producers have fallen in love with NLHE, quick conclusions & drama by just editing out the steals & uncalled raises.

The biggest problem with the show is all of the damn commercials, its always one hand and a commercial or maybe two hands and a commercial. Less commercials would make the show a bigger hit
The commercials are how GSN makes money to pay HSOR LLC the producer. I wonder do the players get a %

I remember Daniel saying they they were paid about 3500 an hour during the first season taping, but then again i could be wrong.

sry i was wrong. this is from his nov 5 2006 blog. The players were also paid an hourly rate to be part of the show that ended up being about $1250 per hour. So with that bonus, I ended up losing less than a quarter million. Not great, but not all that horrible either.

Maybe have it be one day PLO and the other 2 taping days NLHE. At least test out the reaction of the audience and see what the average joe thinks (meaning people not like us). They already took a slight risk putting a cash game on TV, what do they have to lose?

Not NEAR as many commercials as that all in fest on 'Poker Superstars' on FOX...High Stakes Poker is easily the best poker show on TV.That dumb *** theme song and Chris Rose commentary ringing my brain ...somebody gimme a vomit bag and a gunGabe Kaplan for president

They know that NL HE gives them good ratings, doing something else is a gamble. And NL HE is by far the most popular type of poker right now, too many people who only knows hold em would be turned away if they did omaha.

excellent show and great to hear it was renewed, I DVR it and it's sadly only 30-35 minutes of poker per week once commercials are skipped.
