I told my best friend today that I want to play poker for a living. Even she didn't take it well (Not that I expected anything else). Am I dillusional for wanting to play for a living?

My husband is currently sleeping on the futon in his den. And he will be there for a while. He let the dog in the bedroom this afternoon, and the dog ate the ear plugs I have to wear because my husband snores. This is THE THIRD TIME HE HAS DONE THIS IN THE LAST WEEK!!! I told him he's not allowed back in the bedroom until he buys me new earplugs. Am I being mean?

it needs to be more in depth than that, what goals do you want to accomplish with it? Do you ahve money set aside to live on and pay bills with? Do you have a backup plan in case everything falls through?

I think absolutely not. Everyone wants to play for a living. They lie if they say they don't else they wouldn't be here. What you have to be careful of is having the discipline to make it viable. That's the part that people who dismiss it don't think will ever work. Only you know if you can be self disciplined enough.

I don't plan on doing it right now. Obviously I can't do it with a roll of 4200. But, I mean when I do have money set aside for the inevitable bad run, when I am playing 15/30 consistantly, when I do have a college degree. I'm sitting in classes now, in college, going for a degree that I don't really want (which makes it so incredibly hard) - but I know that I need it.My goals? The main thing is that I want to do something I love. Both of my parents, neither went to college, are doing things they're content with - but things that they don't love to do. I grew up with that, and with employers shitting all over them. That's what I don't want.My goal is to be a successful player who is living comfortably doing what he loves. I don't plan on getting rich. But I've seriously considered a ton of things that I'm okay with doing the rest of my life (psychology, teaching, journalism, to name a few) - and none of it makes me want to get up in the morning.I don't know. I can't talk to my friends, because they're ignorant of poker. I can't talk to my parents, because they're (admittingly) ignorant of college and poker. I'm running out of places to find advice.
