Tactical Bear 3
When is their album supposed to "drop?" (As a sidenote, I feel self-conscious when I use the word "drop" in that context, so I put it in quotes so everyone understands that I recognize the incongruousness of a suburban turbo-cauc using the word "drop.") Next month sometime? I've been leak-peeping occasionally, but haven't found anything yet.EDIT: If that video is a sign of things to come, then I'm even more excited than I was. Jadaki 0
I am still listening to the new DOOM quite a bit.I don't really keep up on this thread so sorry if you posted a review previously, but how do you like it compared to his other stuff?
Tactical Bear 3
I don't really keep up on this thread so sorry if you posted a review previously, but how do you like it compared to his other stuff?I think it's fantastic. Madvillainy is my favorite DOOM album, and this isn't that good, but it's still excellent. You should know, however, that since he lets Rae and Ghost spit a few verses, so I am obliged to like it. I've been listening to Operation Doomsday, MM Food, and Dangerdoom all week - the first is my favorite so far. I've been considering making a long and perhaps boring post about my newly-found love of hip-hop (newly as in this last year), but anyways I've discovering all this goddam amazing shit. I didn't suck at music before hip hop (serious jazz-head), but man, I was missing out. Anyways, do you know the track 'Angels' from Doom/Ghost? It's pretty awesome. They've been doing an album together, Swift & Changeable, but they've been working on it for years. Anyways, apparently you guys are on whatcd, so this should be clickable. http://what.cd/torrents.php?id=72972

Speed Limit 0
Any of you guys know if Sonic Youth's Eternal has leaked yet?
Speed Limit 0
it looks like it has. it's on all the private trackers, but it's a transcode (128-->192kbps) and keeps getting removed. I wish they would make a rule to allow ANY quality for leaked albums. I don't give a shit about the standards, my ears are low-fi. it took me WEEKS to get Narrow Stairs because staff was so quick to delete the initial leaked tranny...Ah yesss found one, it's at 192. Spinning now.

Tactical Bear 3
Hey, can somebody give me a good Chopin rundown? Over the past few years, I've listened to some of his stuff and, while I don't understand it, I like it. Also, MK: come on.

I kind of want to go down there sometime and take a million pictures to send to the site.
Tactical Bear 3
Went on a mini-binge. I've been ignoring new music lately, so I just downloaded a handful of hipster discs, including:Dan Deacon- BromstJunior Boys- Begone Dull CareSt. Vincent- Actor Out of WorkCymbals Eat Guitars- Why There Are MountainsHaven't listened to much, except for a few tracks from Actor via Lala, which I enjoyed. Tactical Bear 3
St. Vincent is playing at my local Virgin Megastore today for free, so that should be pretty cool.Yeah, I just finished my second spin through the album, and I have it tentatively slotted into my 2009 Top 10 at the moment. The track "Laughing With a Mouth of Blood" is my favorite, but I really think it should've been "Mouthful." I think I'd like it better if it were "mouthful of blood." I wish I lived in a real place where stuff like "random indie acts I enjoy play free shows at a local record store," or "random indie acts I enjoy occasionally play within 45 miles." Tactical Bear 3
What a good day for me, musically. If the lead track from Dan Deacon's Bromst -- "build voice," I believe -- is any indication of what's the follow, I may have found another Top 10 2009 album today.
Sportsmack 0
I know this is probably a retarded question, but I heard someone refer to Jay-z as "hova" or something similar on the radio today. Can anyone tell me what the hell that means or stands for? Just curious.

Can anyone tell me what the hell that means or stands for? Just curious.I'm not sure if there's really a story behind it, but I know Hova means God in... I dunno, yiddish? jew? Probably just a fun way of calling himself the God of the rap game.

I'm sure you're right tho. Thanks.

Thanks.Jehovah is just a word that means God. I think -- and now I am probably just really making stuff up -- it's from the unpronounceable JHVH or JHV or something, written in the JewJew scriptures. I also want to make it perfectly clear, now, that, despite my decision to ramble on about scripture, I do not believe in God. It's important that I mention that.
