change the wsop main event to a $50,000 buy-in!

Recommended Posts

The Main event of the WSOP should be a $50,000 - that would reduce the field to a decent 1000 people. Plus the main event has not moved up with time - it has always been $10k - thats a dime a dozen these days - there is a $10,000 buy-in event at least 4 or 5 times a month! The change in price would reduce the online sat. tourny's by 1/5! The pros can afford it!

I'm too lazy to do it, but can someone post a link to every single thread so this newb can see that his "novel" idea has been discussed already 10 to 15 times on different threads.

i have a better idea! why not have it $5,000,000! that'll even keep those loser pros home that won't pony up the $, like lederer and his little sis, and maybe even jesus! it could be something like a heads up tourney for the most prestigious event ever!

These threads are stupid, and with each new one that gets posted the "ideas" get worse and worse. Why don't you write to the WSOP committee instead of posting here? $15,000 would be a decent increase, but $10,000 is fine and still unaffordable for me.

not a horrible argument. what's the equivalent of $10,000. back in the early 70s to now? $100,000?What's the fascination with the buy in?I really don't get it. I think the 10 million first prize (or whateber) probably compares favoribly to what Johnny Moss won, no?Make it a $1000 buy in and get every casino in vegas involved and have an elevnty-billion dollar first prize. That would be better.

$100,000? Are you insane? Please think of this in logical terms, and decide if you think the dollar's value has inflated 1000% in 25 years. $10,000 in 1970 is a little under $50,000 today, I believe.

We already went through this the other day1975 - $10K would be the equivilent of ~$35K today
