chan does it!! number 10

Recommended Posts

What's funny is he had to wait all that extra time so ESPN could put them on the tv table. If it's like 2003 Doyle or Phil will probably take down a bracelet a piece in the next few days to tie it back up. :club:

well done johnny...hopefully this will light a fire under phil hellmuth's ass and make him step up to the task... chan's always won a braclet to overtake him right before he wins one in recent years....phil hellmuth, world champion of pot-limit omaha???? we shall see....

Chan's last bracelet was in 2003, when he won the $5000 PL Omaha. He also won the $5000 NLH that year.Mr. Brunson is the PLO chip leader and Hellmuth is in the top 5- I would love to see one of these two win #10 next! For those of you following the PLO:What the HELL Happened to ram vaswani? He was over 150k at one point and now only has 14k?

Should be interesting to see if Phil or Doyle respondYeah, gee, maybe their will to win can carry them to victory. Oh wait, that's right, you also need a temendous amount of LUCK.
I don't get it, you think skill plays a tiny roll in tourns? How, mathematically, does Chan win 10 of these? Luckiest man on earth?

I don't get it, you think skill plays a tiny roll in tourns? How, mathematically, does Chan win 10 of these?Luckiest man on earth?I think tournaments are about 30% skill and 70% luck. It's exceedingly rare that the most skilled player wins any given tournament. That's not a tiny role, but someone wondering if Doyle or Phil will "respond' is ludicrous.Like these guys could easily win tournaments at will if they were properly motivated.Insane.

Dammit, I said "roll". I had a slight disaggreement, about the percentages you gave, especially depending on the size of a tourn... but I don't deserve to argue it after saying "plays a tiny roll" in my post.I digress.

It's not unreasonable to assume the possibility that a certain player could step up his game to nearly double his chances of winning a bracelet. Over 20 events, this could translate into passable odds of it happening. No need to go tearing wishful thinking up as if the poster actually believes that motivation alone can translate into victory, however.

Why are you arguing with him?Havn't you guys seen a pattern here yet? He takes some side in an argument, preferbly the minority one, turns the argument into a semantic problem, while ignoring the original argument. He's never wrong, cause he never gives a straight answer. He makes up his on questions, regardless of what you asked him, and thus always gets the answer right. He's using some class D rethorical tricks, that only work since you guys cooperate with him.

Congrats to Johnny Chan! I've always thought he had great feel, and people have been doubting him lately. He's better than Bill Fillmaff,er Phil Hellmuth(I like Phil too.), so I'm happy to see him get #10.

You are right Smash.....Tournaments have a high degree of luck...but there is something to be said about the tournament specialists that do so well ONLINE....namely Brett Jungblutt (GANK).I also find it interesting how many "pros" have won WSOP events this year....I used to agree with the 30% skill 70% luck statement....But I have revised to 50/50.....

You are correct. But you have to admit that when Daniel won the last tourney of the year to capture the POY title it was a pretty impressive feat. Sure, luck was involved, but he wasn't just luckier than the 700 (or however many) other players. He was on a mission and I was in awe of the fact that he actually came out on top.
