Palin Plays The Bill Ayers Card

Recommended Posts

Don't know if it is the Economy or what. But this Election season seems way more "tense" than I have ever seen before. You're not alone - I've been guilty of it at times too. Might as well give my own unsolicited apology. Can't hurt. I've got no business calling you out like that. Your views are as valid as mine.
If you own stock, you are probably in a shitty mood the last couple weeks. Every time I check the ticker I swear I hear Darth Vader music in the background.

What makes me angry is that for all John McCain's saying that he wanted to run a "clean" campaign about the issues, when he gets desperate, he resorts again to the standard Republican Machine dirty, subtly bigoted tactics that play on people's fears and prejudices. Don't you all think we have enough to really fear with the economy going the way it is without worrying about the candidate's minor associations with characters that have less than stellar pasts? Especially when those "crimes" were committed 20 to 30 years ago and those same people have been law-abiding citizens ever since? Even the Keating thing happened like 20 years ago but I'm still glad that Obama is willing to fight fire with fire. But this is a typical Republican political tactic. I just hope that the people listening are finally getting tired of being hammered with fear and prejudice so this scheme backfires on them.

All that he is saying is that he didn't know of Ayers past when he first met him, this is damning how?
Sat in Wright's church for 20 years and did not hear any of that stuff........now the same with Ayers. Is he telling the truth?

No.This is not some sort of a freaking "Republican Tactic". "Character" is a valid campaign issue - if BHO wants to do the same, fine. To act like McCain is somehow running a "Dirty Campaign" is just your bias. To excuse the bombing as indescritions of youth that happened a long time ago is not acceptable to me. Sorry. And I KNOW that if the shoe were on the other foot you'd be singing a different song. And nice (not so) subtle playing of the Race Card.

You don't think Sarah Palin's speeches have racial undertones to them? Com'on guy. She knows exactly what she's saying to her audience and they know also. So to say I played the race card is dumb since it's rather obvious that Palin doesn't have any problem with doing so.

...because any time a White woman says something negative about a Black Man it has "Racial Undertones". Nice job.

Incredible. Obama plays the race card overtly and pre-emptively, but some geniuses can read between the lines and find anything they want.

Looks like Keating isn't the only shady character in John McCain's past - take a look at his father-in-law. :DAfter all it's only fair since you all think Obama's marginal associations are fair game. John McCain's personal fortune traces back to organized crime in Arizona, through his father-in-law, according to a report published by a multi-news agency team called Investigative Reporters and Editors Inc.IRE reporters Amy Silverman and John Doherty, writing in the Phoenix New Times, note that the father of McCain's wife, James Hensley, was convicted by a federal jury in U.S. District Court of Arizona in March 1948 on seven counts of filing false liquor records. Hensley also was charged with conspiracy to hide from federal authorities the names of persons involved in a liquor industry racket with two companies he managed, United Sales Company in Phoenix and United Distributors in Tucson. The umbrella company, United Liquor, at that time held a monopoly in Arizona, organized and managed by Kemper Marley, who was accused of mob ties by a reporter who was murdered in 1977.Silverman and Doherty report that by 1955, Hensley had launched a Budweiser distributorship in Phoenix, "a franchise reportedly bestowed upon him by Marley, who was never indicted in the 1948 liquor-law-violation case – or a subsequent one – despite his controlling role in the liquor distribution businesses."(Story continues below) According to Marley's longtime public relations man, Al Lizanetz, the Marley liquor empire was founded by the Bronfman family dynasty of Canada which operated Allied Finance Company, Northern Export Company and Distillers Corporation – the Seagrams, Ltd. empire. As chronicled by the "Rumrunners and Prohibition" video shown popularly on the History Channel, during the 1920s, the Bronfman family made millions in bootlegging, accounting for half the illegal liquor crossing the border, working in a profitable distribution deal with the infamous mobster Meyer Lansky, who later moved on to establish the crime syndicates in the casinos of Havana, Cuba, in the 1940s and 50s.Arizona in the 1970s drew a "who's who" of organized crime figures seeking to retire in the sun, including Rochester, N.Y., mob boss Joe Bonanno, who spent his last days along the Lake Havasu shores and in a quiet home in Tucson. In 1977, after Arizona Republic reporter Don Bolles was killed when his car was blown up by the mob in a parking lot, a team of 36 journalists from 27 news organizations, known as IRE, published an 80,000 word 23-part series on organized crime in Arizona.Dan Nowicki and Bill Muller, reporting in the Arizona Republic March 1, 2007, documented that in 1953, Hensley was again charged with falsifying records at Marley's liquor firms.Hensley was found not guilty after being defended by William Rehnquist, the future chief justice of the Supreme Court, Nowicki and Muller wrote. In 2000, Hensley, then 80 years old, still controlled the Budweiser distributorship valued as a $200 million-a-year business, with annual sales of more than 20 million cases of beer.On Feb. 17, 2000, Pat Flannery reported in the Arizona Republic that Hensley's beer-distribution empire was the fifth largest in the nation, "a Budweiser franchise whose bigwigs hold the No. 2 spot on Sen. John McCain's all-time career list of corporate donors."Since 1982, according to the Center for Public Integrity, Hensley & Co. officials have pumped $80,000 into the campaigns of McCain, Flannery wrote. More than a quarter of that has been donated since 1997.Flannery further reported that in 2000, Cindy Hensley McCain, the senator's wife, held a 37.18 percent financial interest in her father's Budweiser distributorship, although she was not involved in day-to-day operations. The McCain's four children held a combined 23.55 percent interest, though their interests were at that time held in trust.

Not true his first response(s) to the Wright situation he said they were soundbytes that were being played and when asked to to denounce Rev Wright he declined. When Rev. Wright came out and began doing press conferences where he was attacking Clinton is when Obama denounced him.

I'm glad I was working most of yesterday. The retardation in this thread is so severe I can physically taste it. ONCE AGAIN- Obama loves to deny who his associations are, so answer this question- who the **** DOES he run with? Who are his ACTUAL buddies?

Seriously, this sentence confirms exactly how much of a fucking idiot you are sometimes.I know not even you believe this.Think about how you feel when you see these McCain ads. That's exactly how I feel when I hear that Nobama will lower taxes for 95% of Americans. It's infuriating to see lies like that.Saying this is a 'typical repub tactic'. What, dems are innocent of this and it's solely a problem of repubs? Sometimes you're level of ignorance dealing with democrat's own problems is appalling. When you post drivel like this, I'm embarrassed to think of what policies and political ideals you pushed on your students.

Okay I think in the next few days we will see the Republicans using the Karl Rove style of fighting made famous by GW. However, I do have it on good authority that the Obama camp is already ready with negative ads of their own to unleash (already filmed and in the can). So we'll see how the Karl Rove technique works against an opponent who isn't caught flat-footed like Gore and Kerry were. Here's what I think McCain may have to do to win. Probably he won't but it may take a hail mary like this for him to get close I actually have a bet with my husband riding on this :club:. And I was dumb enough to take McCain:1. Have Caribou Brabi step aside, and get some more "mainstream" numbskull, like Guiliani or, better yet, Lieberman. Sure, it'll seem dangerously impetuous and erratic, but just label it as a "country first" tough decision, and try to salvage the last month. Promise Caribou Barbi a cushy job as Secretary of Beauty Pageants, or something, to keep her pitching fund-raisers to the far right and religious conservatives. 2. Other than that, FORGET the far-right, already. They are already in the bag, and the game you've been missing is in the middle, and among the disaffected redneck Hillary-dems. Lieberman or Rudy are more acceptable to them than the national joke you chose for VP. Undo the mistake, and accept huge credit, from yourself, for being enough of a leader to correct mistakes. All you need to keep the far-right will be to present an "Obama vision of the supreme court". Run some ads showing negros and hippies in judicial robes. That will keep the far-right in line. Again. 3. Come up with some mumbo-jumbo that other candidates might refer to as "programs" or "ideas". Promise some far-reaching cure-all for the economy, that would offend conservatives as interventionist or socialist. (They will be watching your supreme court commercials, anyway). Look like you are at least fretting over the economy with the rest of us slobs. Out here, we'd gladly throw up the "white flag of surrender" in Iraq, but aren't too stinking crazy about recessions. 4. How about this: Announce that, due to the economic emergency, YOU now plan to withdraw all troops from Iraq, within 30 days of inauguration! That can be your final hail-mary. Out-peace Obama! Legitimize your position with the economy: "My friends, we can be proud of our accomplishments in Iraq, and the heroic deeds of our sons who died there. We now focus all our limited resources and energy into rebuilding a nation for them to come home to". 5. Oh, and more of that "drill, baby, drill" stuff. Sure, it's stupid and irrelevant, but the jerks in the middle love that stuff. Simple, effective sloganeering of even an irrelevant and peculiar type can help- it always has. That's your game-changer, Gramps. It's fourth-and long, and you need to go deep. The negative stuff ain't likely to win, but one more transformation- into a DOVE- might just work.

You have to do more than show an association. You have to show negative influence. Let's say this guy taught Obama that lower taxes are better for the economy, do you have a problem with that? You are implying that Obama has a negative quality because of his association with this person you don't like, that he shares the negative qualities with that person due to his association. But there's no evidence of that. What do you think about Liddy, who also held a fundraiser for McCain in his house, has made several contributions to the campaign, greeted McCain as an "old friend" on a radio show, to which mccain replied "It's always a pleasure for me to come on your program, Gordon, and congratulations on your continued success and adherence to the principles and philosophies that keep our nation great." Liddy of course is the guy who orchestrated the watergate break-in, which was only one among several criminal plots including kidnapping and murder that he proposed. This is a guy who advised the branch dravidians in Waco that "if the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms insists upon a firefight, give them a firefight. Just remember, they're wearing flak jackets and you're better off shooting for the head." He also described once how he was inspired by Hitler during his youth. This is an old friend of John McCain's, does that bother you? It doesn't bother me as I am sure McCain is just like every politician who has had relationships with all sorts of unsavory characters along the way. McCain doesn't seem to me like he is hatching robbery plots, so this kind of nonsense is a non-issue just like the Ayers thing.

What is disturbing is the fact that you've posted in this thread like twenty times all the while not answering anyones retorts just pressing along with your view hoping that all democrats will go "you know what 85suited, Obama is a real life doctor evil, he has plodded and planned with Ayers and muslim terrorists through Rev. Wright for twenty years all in an effort to destroy the USA, muahahahaha" Because thats a lot more reasonable then hey he knows a few dickheads.

I agree it's much more a political tactic then a republican one and it is also much more a professional wrestling tactic. Dems are far from innocent on this and I would argue that Clinton was "slinging the mud" well before anyone during this election process, one of the frustrating things to me anyways was that McCain was all about being above these "tactics" until he was behind in the polls but then again I liked McCain 2000 much better.I did laugh at the Obama will lower taxes for 95% of Americans line from your post as it is no more of a lie then the Obama will raise all your taxes adds that McCain is running- but surely both parties are fos more often then not.
