adidas freak 0
I've heard that many of the top name players in poker (especially tournament poker) are broke. I'm pretty sure sklansky mentions this in one of his books and Barry Greenstein also claims this to be true. Does anyone know of any broke tournament players? Maybe TJ...I know he has a craps problem and doesnt do well in cash games??? Maybe McEvoy...haven't heard much about him and he seems to write a book every other week???Moneymaker??? obrien64 0
his showing in the poker superstars has just been terrible. that would lead me to believe that he could of lived outside his means and could be broke. i dunno.
PhishForChips 0
Cloutier is a donkey at the craps tables. He has to be staked to even play in tourneys. He probably lives in a trailer.
scweeber 0
yeah, TJ probably won more tourneys during the 90s than anyone but he still had to be staked by phil hellmuth for most of those years...

Petoria 0
I've been watching Matusow play on UB for the past week or so, and at every table he's begging for money and trying to get staked for tourneys and against Negreanu headsup. This leads me to believe that Matusow is pretty much broke.
JTPHS 0
He just got out of jail! lol what do you expect!I often see him winning when he's on Full Tilt too. I think he's got some rebuilding to do... he has in the past said that he's been millionaire to broke because of his lifestyle too
Bravado2112 0
It's not surprising to imagine. At the end of the day a number of these guys are really just compulsive gamblers even if they happen to be good poker players. Too much time in a casino, an obsessive personality, and poor money management can take down many good players.
Petoria 0
Even pros play outside their BR sometimes I guess, if they read this forum they might learn something.
SapphireTiger 0
being a professional poker player is a hard life and i think in a way it's much like acting. There are a TON of people who aspire to be professional actors, and many of them end up broke or close to broke. Only a select few are able to cash in the big bucks and land a deal that will last them a while. There are a lot of professional poker players...and i think a lot of them might be in the same situatoin. waldo 0
i can count the amount of winning tourney pros on my fingers, it is so difficult to provide the money to consistently buy in to these tourneys until you make a large score
walktheplank69 0
Moneymaker isn't broke... He's getting well over £10,000 per appearance (Could be as high as $25,000) and his agent is making him a fortune. He's just got a book out, he's endorsed a bunch of stuff... He's making a killing. As for poker, He's playing $30/60 side games and doing OK in them...

Sushiman 0
Is that Saddam Hussein? There is no way Moneymaker is broke. He's not a great player, he knows this, so he doesn't risk his roll by playing in outrageously expensive games. The most safe way to earn is to cash in on the poker crazeand make your bucks endorsing products and selling your image. Of course, unless are you Barry Greenstein and your game is so elite the couple hundred grand u get for having your picture taken isn't worth your time.

But I doubt many people other than him know how much he has. Depends on his lifestyle, alot of people try to live outside of their means.
