Far too many players do things because they've been taught that it's the right way to play without knowing why. Raise good, call bad, grunt. Kinda like Republicans with the mantra that lowering taxes is always the answer. Sometimes it is but not always.Bad calling stations are great to play against but you need to not only bang the bass drum of isolation but throw in your snare, tom toms and maybe even some cowbell as well.GO RAYS! I <3 Dutchoh, i forgot to chime in on this. i remember hoosieralum saying awhile ago that he uses "online equity calculator." that's what i've been going with. when the bank or my landlord asks what it is i say that i'm independently contracted to do equity calculations in different markets. it has to do with statistics, advanced game theory, risk management, psychology, etc. etc. etc. people usually tune out around statistics, but if they don't and they want to know more specifics, then that's fine too. you see what i'm doing has applications in the stock market, real estate investing, business growth, personal development, educational studies, nearly every private sector.i also do this with 100% of the people i meet for the first time. as i get to know them better (and feel that they are more comfortable with me as a person) i give them a little more insight to slightly more specifics and the amount of specifics i give to them corresponds directly to the development of my relationship with them. since i care nothing of what others think of me i do this so that if i choose to embark on a friendly relationship with them then i can better control their perception of me.sociopathic? perhaps it could slightly seem that way.poker player? to the bone. This is pretty similar to my approach. I am much more open with my friends/acquaintances, but people I need to have a business-like relationship with get the equity investments run around. The clerk always wants to be nosy and ask where the money is coming from. I've always just said I have an online business, and I'm sure they think its something to do with either porn or ebay. I'm definitely going to use online equity calculator in future situations that warrant it. I don't know if I could get my wife to use that when people ask her what her husband does though. lol Those of you with girlfriends/wives, what do they tell other people you do when they're asked and you're not there to answer for them?
