Suited_Up 2
That's funny but true. This only goes if the person you are giving it to knows wine though. If they are used to drinking wine from a box...anything you give them in a bottle will probably be fine.I recently sent this wine gift basket to a friend for Christmas... Wine Gift BasketThe thing I found peculiar was they never asked for proof of age from me or the recipient when delivored. That's really nice. Ferrari is pretty solid. Brigette went to Napa last year w/ her family, and she said that was her favorite winery by far, not just cause the wine was good, but I guess the place looks amazing. Top 5 wine IMHO. Finished with a little scotch - 17 yr. Glengoyne.
gooch 0
great thread guy, can't believe i've never seen it beforequick douchebag intro and i'll start contributing:i like big wines, cabernet sauvignon and shiraz/syrah are my go to for red if money is no object, prefer the bouquet of cali cabs, but the bordeaux depthwhites i like big sauv blancs, rich chardonnays and lots of yummy viognerchampagne i go totally the other way and like fresh crisp green apple tastei'm pretty deep in california, bordeaux, bc (canada) and spanishi drink around 5 bottles a week and try about 40, i am really trying to expand my knowledge rather than just stay deep in ones i like so i try a lot of different wines now, have yet to find the appeal of pinot yetthere now on with contributing One day I will try the Grange, One day. Have you had it Keieth or Lefty?i've had a few vintages, most recent tasting was the 98 and oldest vintage tried was the 78, just had a small room tasting with john duval to go over his new wines (yummy) as well as the longshadows projects which i will post on more in the futuregood? no. grange is great. but it is expensive, so like 1st growth bordeaux expect to pay top dollar for the winea good substitute if you don't want to shell out for grange but want a top notch shiraz is the Barossa Valley Estates E & E black Pepper Shiraz, the 2005 is a great vintage, around $100 i think some wines i have not seen mentioned yet that you cali guys have to pick up are:the pahlmeyer or jayson chardonnay, top notch.and grab a bottle of the mer soleil vinyards late harvest botrytis affected viogner desert wine, such a great nosefor the guys struggling with french labels that like viogner, look for Condrieau, 100% viogner and so goodfor value look to spain, rioja even though it has gone up quite a bit lately and the more world wide discovery of ribera del duero, there is still great value there if you can read the label, i'll post up some on that later too

Fleur 0
Sorry to hear this Fleur. May I ask what the strange circumstances were?p.s. welcome back, I've been reading your blog in your abscence and enjoy your cats. She was found naked, only wearing a towel, lying on her bed with the doors locked from the inside. She was dead for three weeks before the police decided to force the door open and take a look (they wouldn't listen when friends said she had been gone for a week without anyone knowing where she was, they would only listen to family, but she didn't have contact with her family...).Her parents refuse to have an autopsy done and the police say it wasn't murder or anything because the doors were locked from the inside. She was 25 years old. Not sick, nothing, just did the occasional recreational drugs like most of the people our age do. Just sucks, because now we don't know what happened. Loads of people turned up at her funeral though, around 120 people. She was very loved.I've been busy with the cats too, go to catshows with the little kitten Bindi (she's a Sacred Birman). But uhm... aren't we polluting the wine thread at the moment?
