Is it a coincidence that every good team in the league follows the "fancy video game stat Geek" model of thinking? and NHL seasons aren't 68 games long, unfortunately.

I had this thought process of blasting into you, getting all mad and belligerent, and then I realized, whats the point. I don't know you, I don't really know what makes you tick, and at the end of the

I guess I'll disclaim this by saying I'm a huge Sundin fan. He's probably my favourite player of all time.   First: Nobody knows exactly what happened. The Leafs couldn't work out a trade with a pla

was anyone else thinking that maybe the Leafs should claim Leighton on waivers? I dont know his attitudes about being a backup again, but at $800k, thats not much to pay someone to backup Reimer while Gustaffson takes a full year with the Marlies.Im actually really looking forward to the offseason for this team. Im curious to see whats next from Burke.

Id rather see Gustavsson as the backup and Rynnas and Scrivens with the Marlies. If Gustavsson cant handle the backup role then there always seems to be a capable replacement on waivers. In terms of the offseason it doesnt seem like Burke has much left to do...Forwards (11)KesselBozakLupulGraboKuleminMacArthur ArmstrongKadriBrentOrrBrown Defence (5)PhaneufKomisarekSchennGunnarssonAulieGoaliesReimerGustavssonThat leaves one spot on defence and on spot on forward if those guys all return. The two guys that may not return on forward that I listed are Orr (injury) and Bozak (mediocrity). That doesnt leave much room for any additions.

I think you are pretty accurate, however there is a lot of money on the table....Upgrading the powerplay on the back end is a must and obviously a top end forward..It will be interesting.

Toronto has signed last year's 3rd round pick (and Lost Cause prospect!) Greg McKegg to a 3yr entry level deal. :club:
I think he's reporting to the Marlies.

According to Cap Geek the Leafs will have about $22,510,000 to spend. They have 13 under contract:KesselLupulArmstrongGrabovskiKuleminKadriOrrBrownPhaneufKomisarekLebdaAulieGustavvsonThey have 8 RFAs:BozakMacArthurBoyceRosehillSchennGunarssonLashoffReimerThey have 4 UFAs:SjostromBrentCrabbGiguereThe money could disappear quickly depending on what they decide to pay their RFAs...especially Schenn, Reimer, MacArthur and Bozek.

I think that's close. I dont think Brent will be after less than 1 mil, and Bozak isn't going to take a pay cut. Reimer should be between 1.5 and 2 million, but you can bet your ass his agent will be asking for starting goalie money. On the other hand, I think mebbe you're a bit high for Macarthur, he should be in the 2.5 range.. But all in all, call it 10-11 million and you're close. That leaves them about 11 million to get a goalie and a centre. Dont know if that counts the million they still have to pay Tucker,,

Did Bozak hit all his bonuses this year? Were they all the cant miss type, to offer him big $$ to come to TO from college?I see his cap hit of 3.75mill, and wondering how it feels for him to only make 1mil next year if you guys are right. Also, say they find the C we all think they need. Where does Bozak go? Can he be the 3rd line C?I feel like he wont fit as well when hes not in the top 6, but maybe Im underestimating his defensive game.

They still need a few more players to fill out the roster.

I dont think a goalie is a top priority..We have 4 solid goalies...Non superstar goalies are dime a dozen.

I like Bozak as a third line center. He really isn't good enough to be the first line center, but he is pretty good defensively and good on draws, and can add some offensive spark as well.

Agreed. He would make a damn decent third line centre, who could probably score a few goals...

I like Bozak. Like Dubey says, he has game on both sides of the puck and he's a solid face-off guy, which is as much (if not more) than you can ask from a 3rd C. I think he's capable as a 2nd line guy, but his offence was not really there this year. I saw flashes of his budding playmaking ability, though, so I think Burke and Wilson should give this guy decent $$$ to stay. My guess is that he'll add 10 pts to his total and will get better and better on two way play.

There are 2 things that make me root for the Leafs. One is my sons growing interest in TML, the second one is my man crush on Brian Burke. One time Hartford Whaler GM, the guy continues to make me root for him over and over again. I just love his approach.Burke on 2010-2011 - Tor StarQ107 Radio Interview Burke April 5-11The 2nd link is Burke going on a radio station he never goes on, to help promote Autism Awareness night at the ACC. OK, so Im biased. But another friend of mine who isnt a Leafs fan, and has no connection to autism really, heard this interview the other day, and sent me a text."Been listening to Brian Burke this morning on Q for 20min. I love this guy! He's gonna make me follow hockey and starting wearing a Leafs jersey. Is he always so straight forward and awesome?!?!"
