  1. I was playing in a loose .50/1 dollar game on UB trying to clear my bonus. I get AK on the button and there are like 5 or 6 limpers. I raise and everyone calls. Flop is KJx there is an early position bet which I raise, I then get called down on the turn and the river and win the pot. Some guy starts trying to tell me that my raise pre-flop was incorect because I was not going to get anyone to fold and I was giving people the odds to draw out on me on the flop. Now I think this is idiotic for two reasons: number one, I was raising for value, not to drive anyone out and two, loose/shitty p
  2. My mom did not like my taking up poker because my dad likes to gamble recreationally once a month at a casino and she always saw it as a waste of money. They aren't together anymore. She didn't see a difference between that and poker. Once I became a winning player I started to keep careful records so that I could ease her fear and also tried to explain why I won consistently. Now she is afraid that I will drop out of school to play full-time, which I don't plan to do. She also constantly nags me about dedicating too much time to poker. It's kind of a no-win for me. I don't want to upse
  3. I don't have many only because I rarely stop playing until I'm back up as long as I feel like I'm playing well. The nights where sh!t is really bad are usually losing sessions because I tend to just quit when I bad beats and cold cards have me really frustrated. It happens, but I'm probably lucky because I have yet to have two losing days in a row in a very long time.
  4. I play limit so one bad beat is like a 4 but a string of them is like an 8. When I take a bunch of bad beats in a row I go beat the hell out of the punching bag I have dowstairs.I do have a big of temper.
  5. Thankyou for your response. I just have quick follow-up question regarding your mentioning of table selection on PP. When I look for a table I notice that the tables with large avg pots have the longest waiting lists and I'm afraid to get on that list since there are probably mostly players like me in line. But I also started thinking that maybe the most degenerate gamblers are looking for those tables as well so perhaps I can get your thoughts on that. I suppose the best thing to do would be to observe a table for a few hands before sitting down, but the tables break so often on PP that t
  6. I started building my bankroll on UB and once I got it up to 300 I moved to PP since everyone here says that's where all the worst players are. This is definitley true in my experience.Despite this fact however, my win rate and win consistency has been higher on UB, including the times when I put winnings back into UB to take advantage of bonus offers. I've played many hands on both sites. My question is this: In light of my higher success rate in UB's tighter, yet weak games should I stick to it? Or has my luck just been below average on PP (I take a ton of bad beats, but who doesn't) ? I
  7. I can only really aford to play 3/6 on the rare occasion I go to the casino to play live. I don't tip every pot I win because it's generally way too expensive. When I want to make 200 dollars last for the duration of my visit. There are plenty of older/wealthier people who are just their to gamble and will provide more than a liveable wage.No matter how well you play or how good your cards are if you're tipping a $ every pot in a 3/6 game you'll slowly (or quickly if the pots are small) go broke.I'll tip if I showdown a big hand in a big pot and if I'm up at the end of the night, a little
  8. I would read some books. What you see on TV is very deceptive as far as strategy goes for several reasons: Alot of the decisions you see professionals making on TV are based on factors that aren't in plain site to the viewer. Also, It's easy for people to get a skewed perception of their abilities as a result of selective memory. Everybody wins at poker sometimes because everybody gets insane cards sometimes. Losses are usually attributed to bad luck. Good players win consistently and are in the + column over time. People also have a tendency to grossly overestimate their reading abili
  9. millions of animals are killed every year due to harvesting machinery (snakes, gophers, rabbits, etc.). Atleast meat-eaters make use of the animals we kill by eating them.
  10. I don't think they have any reload bonuses right now... Almost positive.
  11. The only money you can't withdrawal right away is bonus dollars. You have to play so many hands to clear that money, then you can withdrawl it. I've never had any trouble with money transactions. A lot of times you can't withrawal money back onto your credit card but you can have it put into a neteller account or have a check sent to you.The only stories I've heard about people getting screwed out of money involved them playing on shady sites. All of the major ones should be fine. Before you play online recommend you make sure you understand the game your playing. Good NL play does not tra
  12. Borgata is really soft/touristy for low limits up to 5/10 atleast, maybe higher..., but who knows. Taj is nice, big, very professional but more regulars than borgata.
  13. I get aces every hand. (my buddy works for party poker)
  14. It's a completely different game. The strategies you use, hands you plays/raise, situations that you raise in call in are all a lot different. Also, super-system's limit section is not applicable for playing a bunch of scrubs in a 3/6 game. If you try to run people like that over you'll find yourself broke real fast. If you want to learn the best strategy for playing bad players read SSHE.If you're just going to have a good time you can probably break even with common sense alone as long as your cards are all right, but to beat the game you should really read SSHE.
  15. I think I've seen 3 in the last year, 2 of them were mine. Only one used 2 hole cards.
  16. The last time I played 5/10 live I was at the softest table imaginable and caught a frozen wave of cards for about 2 hours then just started hitting sets and flushes and straights in huge mult-way pots and came out up almost 900. I like to sit down with 50 BB's. It helps me feel comfortable every time I know I should fire out a raise. Playing with scared money is never good.
  17. do lots of coke and have unprotected sex with vegas prostitutes.
  18. I like this hand, I seem to make a lot of straights with it that win very large pots. Just won one a few minutes a go, here it is: Getting Hand History Information...----------------------------------------------------------------Hand #5155378-9492 at Bukarest ($.25/$.50 Hold'em)Powered by UltimateBetStarted at 12/Apr/05 00:52:04 Wicked_Starr is at seat 0 with $9.25. kfpdwsm is at seat 1 with $29.75. KayPee is at seat 2 with $40.70. Jendecott is at seat 3 with $14.90. CohibAA is at seat 4 with $7.80. billmcl2 is at seat 5 with $17.75. WishN4Fishn is at seat 6 with
  19. turned $1.58 into a grand in three days. Sat down at the .01/.02 NL tables and got enough to play a $5 tourney, won it and kept playing tourneys and winning them up to $50 dollar buy-ins. I was playing way outside of my bankroll obviously, but halfway through the run decided that if I hit 1k I would cash it out since I kinda needed money and that's what happened.
  20. I think a lot of younger people who see poker on tv and go to a casino behave like idiots but they are also easy money so I tolerate them... I think a lot of the stuff you mentioned is rude to do around people you don't know. My friends and I give eachother shit all the time (slow-roll, applauding bad beats, etc.) but we know eachother and it's fun and we're not playing for serious money. Sometimes when we buy-in we throw in an extra $5 dollars and make a pot for the best slowroll of the night. Etiquette isn't the rules and I don't think you're going to be able to avoid seeing young punks i
  21. for the short time i played the shorthanded tables I noticed there were a lot of pissing contests, could probably find a way to take advantage of those if your observant and pick your spots well.
  22. Play tight in the beginning. Once the blinds become worth stealing play position with decent hands if you can get them, if not then do it with anything. If you rely on getting cards you won't be profitable in s&g's even if you play them really well. Sometimes you'll run into real hand after real hand when you try to do this but not often so don't let it discourage you. Also practice reading betting patterns. Also, if you play on UB the 'points' s&g's are good practice. They're easier than the money ones but not complete jokes like the free ones. I play em whenever I feel a littl
  23. I gotta agree. He's not a great limit/cash game player, but even the pros who give him the most criticism in that area admit that when he's on he can really dominate a table. Lately I think he might have been suffering from a little bad run due to lack of confidence. Happens to everyone from time to time I think.
  24. It was the correct fold. If it was a cash game and you have the right bankroll I say yeah get it in with Kings. But this was a tournament. There's no bad beat consolation prize and you can't reload. Two people in the pot: Even if one of them doesn't have aces one has atleast as an ace and you're only a 2.5:1 favorite over him and you gotta worry about the other guy's set. Two under pairs increases the likelyhood of a set or some bullcrap straight or flush. Best case scenario is both have an ace. If I got a good read leading me to believe that I'd make the call. If doubling up with big
  25. i got ya. I'm not trying to establish it as a law or anything. I usually base it on a little more (i.e. raising the flop not turn, and I try to watch the players at my table as well). Seems to be effective, if it goes the other way I'll adjust
