  1. Just got done watching a bootleg copy of the new wolverine movie. Wolverine goes looking for the character Gambit in a card room in New Orleans, and guess who's sitting at the table playing $25-$50 blinds with Gambit. It's just a one second long head shot, but I was suprised to see him none the less. I'm more surprised that I don't remember reading about it one here earlier. Maybe I just missed it, but Good on you Daniel.
  2. Canada: America's hat, T shirt I saw not long ago. Thought it was funny.
  3. I like the "I'm so mad I could kill a penguin" comment. It would be funnier if it didn't ring so true. (on life tilt right now)
  4. more fun quotes from Jefferson:The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not. -Thomas JeffersonMost bad government has grown out of too much government.-Thomas JeffersonThe two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first.-Thomas Jefferson
  5. akoff, just to let you know, the quote you have in your signature attributed to G. Ford is actually taken from Thomas Jefferson. Just thought you'd like to know where Ford got it from.Government big enough to supply everything you need is big enough to take everything you have ... The course of history shows that as a government grows, liberty decreases. The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not. -Thomas Jefferson
  6. I wasn't saying that he should have killed them. That is still a crime in this country, even if they aren't citizens. I was just saying that they were lucky that he didn't do it.
  7. The insurance companies that still pay well make it worth it. I don't make much profit off of cash patients, but make up for it from the other insurance companies. Some patients that I know can't afford it, I see for free or barter with them. I'm not greedy. I guess thats why I am one of the few docs that struggles some months to make ends meet at the office. I've gotten to the point where most of my personal income comes from other sources; investments, rental properties, flipping houses. I continue to run the practice because I like helping people. There were a couple of months last y
  8. My question is what civil rights did he violate? They (immigrants) aren't American citizens, and as such are not afforded the same civil rights as Americans, are they? I think they should just consider themselves lucky they didn't disappear somewhere in the 22K acres, and call it a day. Better luck the next time they try to cross.
  9. I'm not sure you are correct here, or else I'm misunderstanding you. As a doctor, I can can choose not to accept certain insurances that I feel don't pay well enough. Any patients with that insurance can file a claim themselves and get reimbursed for the cash they pay. Not all companies will reimburse, or limit how much they will reimburse in these cases. Patients are welcome to find a doctor who will take their insurance. Insurance companies are allowed to pick and choose the doctors in their networks, so it is a two way street in that reguard. There are a couple of insurance companies
  10. Anyway, the relevency is that my poker career is now old enough that I've seen a lot of players come and go, specifically tournament players. I am totally open to being proven wrong, but my gut tells me that ironing out MTT variance, even online, can take years if not decades yet there are still lots of people who play MTTs for a living. Certainly I think live tournaments are almost purely luck driven, as it's not possible to play enough of them in a year to make up a solid and statistically meaningful sample. I think that's why a lot of people were put off with Vanessa Rousso making some c
  11. That just tilted me. I can't stand his whining and crying all the time. I 've gotten to the point that any time that his face comes up while watching a poker event, I instantly change the channel. If I sat at his table, I'd probably end up in jail for aggravated assault for pummeling his fat little head. He bugs me.
  12. Although I didn't vote for BHO, and am not particularly impressed with his start, I do find myself cheering the guy on. Seriously, do we really want things to get worse under his tenure, just to say "I told you so"? I admit there is a little vindictive part of me that wants this to happen, but then the logic side kicks in and thinks that it would be 'cutting off the nose to spite the face' as the adage goes.
  13. I find it funny that health care premiums continue to rise by 6-7% every year, but re-imbursement to us doc's continues to go down every year. Co-payments for patients are at an all time high as well. Many of my patients now have $30-40 co-pays. I see more and more patients every year to make the same or slightly less money every year. I am seriously considering leaving the healthcare field, and getting more rental properties.Having the goverment run healthcare would be even worse. Medicare and medicaid are the worst when it comes to payment. All other health insurance companies base th
  14. I have been both shot and stabbed in my lifetime, (both of which sucked)
  15. 1. Wrestled against 2 world champions in attempt to make the US national team (double elimination tournament, and they were my 1st and 3rd opponents) (Rulon Gardner and Dremiel Byers)2. Cut up several human bodies into pieces so that they would fit into small boxes for easy disposal.3. Walk-on to 3 varsity sports teams in college while attending on a full academic ride.4. Have never been busto in my online account.
  16. I suck, so I'm still at .10 &.25 Nl. Play .25-.50 lhe and .10-.20 studh/l and razz. Started with $100 bankroll, and got it up to $1k and took half of it out. Promise the wife I wouldn't reload so I'm a nit with the bankroll. I need a coach. Any one interested in coaching for a % of profits? (I'll play on my roll)
  17. The bibledoesn't specifically say gay marriage, but definitely against homosexuality. I believe in "to each, his own", but, from some one who had to study the bible in college (athletic scholarship to a religous school) I think you're lacking in understanding what the bible says. Its just a big a sin to have sex before marriage no matter what the sex of the two people (according to the bible). Bible thumpers don't even bother with premarital issues anymore.
  18. Maybe Daniel could put a bug in his ear about rescinding the law, and Party Poker could come back.
  19. All the race talk, and Black is a small part of his genetic Heritage. I think one of his grandparents on his father's side was black. He's 50%white (mother's side) 43.75% arabic and only 6.25% black on his father's side. By American law, he can't really claim black. African yes, but not black. Let's face it, when people say African American, they mean black african.
  20. Are any americans still on stars? It is down here in PA. Anybody know the reason?
  21. SIG, an investment firm here in Bala Cynwd PA promotes poker at their firm. Last year they had a tournament for prospective hires to see how well they made decisions. It helps that one of their founding partners won a bracelet this year, and that Bill Chen is one of their analysts. They like to see poker on resumes. They actually have a poker room on their training floor for the traders, and almost every night of the week they have games going on after the market closes. And yes, Chen is a regular in their room, having fun with other employees.
  22. I would have to agree with potodds here. It's like the old cliche' - Guns don't kill people, people kill people.
