  1. I think you have to push the turn, as played. You're now have a big draw and you aren't likely folding for 9 more. So why not add some fold equity? Even if he folds a small amount of the time you will be in a better spot than just check calling.
  2. i think you can with certain cards. what if the jack of hearts falls? now, even getting 3 or 4 to one i can't see calling anything.
  3. .25/.50 Home Game. 3 handedStack sizesHero ~60Villian ~12Villian is a complete loose/passive donk. She plays every hand and will often call down with just an ace or king, hoping to hit. The only times i've seen her bet aggressively is when she has a monster, like a set. but she does have a history of not seeing obvious draws that hit and paying off people with marginal hands. Preflop (pot .75)Button folds, Villian calls, Hero checks with 4s3cFlop (pot 1)7h qh 5dvillian checks, hero checksTurn (pot 1)advillian checks, hero checksRiver (pot 1)2hvillian bets 2, hero raises to 5, villian move
  4. i, personally, am an advocate of usually betting your hands aggressively. people don't usually think you'd bet a set this hard and it throws them off. however, in this circumstance i think you need to play it a little slower, given that the board is so uncoordinated. you have to think about what will give you action. in this case, the only hands that make sense to give you action would be tpgk, and even those hands may go away if you give them too much heat. i don't mind raising the flop, because that is expected from someone who has just a 10, but bet a little less on the turn, like 2-3.
  5. I agree here. the villians play is weird, but i think c/r the flop and then leading the turn with a 3/4 pot sized bet is your best play. you have a fairly big hand and you want to get paid for it. betting too much makes people drop hands that might have called a smaller bet. one of the keys to nl holdem is to bet your hands in such a way that you make your opponents make mistakes to call, but also that you get value for them. as an aside, since you're new to hold em, until you get more experience i would suggest not playing hands like weak off suit aces OOP like this. even though you wer
  6. I really don't see how you can be sure you're against a bunch of one pair hands. still i think that a straight, set, or two pair is less likely, unless the original raiser has that because you would have likely heard from them on the flop or turn. I think you're definitely up against at least one or two one pair hands and some draws. your overbet looks a bit suspicious and could easily get called by someone with tpgk, which could make someone ovecall with a draw, which would be really bad for you. the good news though is that, it is impossible for you to be drawing dead against two of the
  7. 1 - Lead for about 20. Too many draws, so you need to protect your hand. But also, with so many big cards you could easily get paid off by worse hands, perhaps even raised. 2 - I would be shocked if there wasn't someone in that 4 way pot with a flush draw. If the Qs comes then i think you have to c/f.
  8. i'm with zach and AK and the others here. closing the action, with that small of a bet, drawing to the nuts, i call. its such an easy hand almost because its either you hit your hand on the turn and bet accordingly, or you c/f. i don't see why we need to be afraid here.
  9. gotcha. thanks.so i went ahead and moved in in the hand. both folded but thought i was full of it. the solid guy had jacks he said. so it worked out but i wondered if i just got lucky and i think that i might have. thanks for the comments.
  10. Would that really be the best play against two players, one who is solid and one who i know nothing about? in what situations would you just push here?
  11. Yeah, the starting stack size at this place is ridiculous. I'd like to find a better place to place around here but until then we're trying to get the buy-in upped.
  12. What about preflop? with these small stack sizes can you call pf with a mid pair, OOP against two players, getting over 3-1?
  13. This hand came up a few weeks ago.Bay 101. 2-3-5 Spread Limit, 5-200. 200 max buy inStack sizesVillian 1 - 100Villian 2 - 250Hero - 160ReadsVillian 1 - this is his first hand so no read. but he bought in short to this already short buy in game. so i don't have a lot of respect yet.Villian 2 - seems like a solid TAG player but only been at the table for less than an hour. He plays somewhat strong hands but seems willing to make good laydowns from conversations i've had with him. Hero - I've projected a TAG image and i'm pretty sure Villian 2 knows this. The only hand i've showed down is
  14. Yeah, if you're not worried about a 4 then, unless he has qq or aa your hand is good. Couple things though, i think your flop raise was a bit small. If my math is right you made it 30 more to them and the pot is 136. You made it correct for any flush draw to stick around. Secondly, would this guy call a button raise with a4? What about 5s3s? If you're sure he can't have the 4 its an easy call. honestly, i don't think you can lay this hand down. His play doesn't really make sense. Just call 45 on the flop and then move in for 135 on the turn? I call this.
  15. Villian had jhjs and totally bluffed you out. god hates you. give up poker. sw
  16. I agree. Dump it. Too much risk with 2nd pair. Once the king flops then you're running out of hands you can beat. Maybe JJ or 1010, but we're stretching it just to find a way to call. Why risk it with another behind? Send those ladies to the muck.
  17. congrats, love reading your posts. you're one of the ones on here who really challenges and helps my game.
  18. I agree with this. You're betting more, not so much to protect your hand, but to get more money into the pot with your huge hand.
  19. yeah, that tourney is retarded. worst tournament structure i've ever played in:25 starting chips.starting blinds 4/8. 12 to open. 10 minute levels. not sure how i was suckered into playing that craps table of a tournament...needless to say i played one hand and was out in 3 minutes.
  20. I agree with the others. Looks like a draw, maybe even 9-10. It doesn't make sense, i call without a read.
  21. Its a rerun. but it is a good show. there won't be a new show (i hear) until April.
  22. something's not right with the math here. going to the flop the villian has 37. going to the turn the villian has 26.50. you bet 36.75 on the turn, he has to call all in. where's the decision? are the stack sizes right?regardless, i think a raise on the flop is better here for the reasons AK said. also, if you've been picking on him for a while he may be more willing to gamble with you than normal and may put his money in thinking you're on a semi-bluff or something.
  23. I agree with this. I'm not laying down a set here, but it seems less likely that he has a hand we beat. The nit thinks he has the best hand, so let him bet.
  24. This may be a dumb question, but would a nit ever play jj like this? Check the flop with the overcard and then raise a small card to see where he's at? or what about a k ? maybe it wouldn't be nit-ish to raise with overs and a draw here though. i don't know. I don't think a nit would play aa/kk like this. Would a nit would they raise 77 UTG short handed? I really think this is a set of queens or its some weird hand that is out of their character that we've seen so far.
