Sticky Situation At Greektown Casino In Detroit

Recommended Posts

I seem to remember a similar post to this from a while back, so if anyone can provide a link, do that.I was at greektown on tuesday when this situation happens at a 1-2 dollar no limit hold 'em 50-100 dollar buy in table...full table, seat 3 and seat 4 leave simultaneously to use the bathroom, etc... 5 minutes pass, seat 4 returns...another 5 minutes, and seat 3 is filled with a new person, original man's chips are nowhere to be seen, and also unnoticed by everyone including myself and the dealer...basically original seat 3 is forgotten by the wayside...a total of 15 minutes have passed and original seat 3 guy returns, says to new guy in seat 3, "hey thats my seat and those are my chips". new seat 3 guy says "these are mine i just bout in for 100 and havent played a hand yet." original seat 3 says, "well i just went to the restroom and grabbed a sandwich and when i left ii had ninety some dollars there". i tell the guy just calm down and call the floor man over. floor man comes, original seat 3 explains his story..guy in seat 2 pipes in "there was no money there, there never was any money there" Play is held up until the matter is resolved and i tell my buddy lets go have a cigarette while they figure it out. he says not yet, he is intrigued by the situation...original seat 3 is getting furious and is demanding his money, at this point, play starts continuing for some reason??? about three hands are dealt/played and seat 2 gives a speech "dayumn this table has cooled off for me, im going to get out of here before you guys take all my money" and leaves...at this point the floorman is talking to teh poker manager and i start in " i dont think its a good idea to let anyone leave, especially the guy who was sitting to the right of the missing chips (as seat 4 was also empty for a period, but still an equally likely suspect)...at this point my buddy tells ME to shut up its not my business, to which i get a lil pyssy, and we start an arguement..."if that was MY money missing youd BETTER say something, its not being a snitch at this point, were not in a back room this is a public place based on mutual respect and trust", he tells me to mind my own business and so i cool down a bit...after management reviews surveilance the manager comes back and says theyve determined that the man in seat 2 slid seat 3's chips over to his stack as the new player sat down, blah blah blah, so now the culprit has gone vanished, and the manager says its up to casino management whether or not they will reimburse his money...if i had to bet, id say they didnt, because the casino would be admitting they let a robbery happen and that it was there fault, major business no no, anyways, what are your opinions on the situation, what shouldve been done, and overall what you guys think about what happened???

I think you're right, the casino won't reimburse seat 3 and you were right to speak up. I don't think the casino could have kept seat 2 from leaving though.I'm pretty sure I don't like your buddy.

Without a doubt. A player should be able to piss/eat without having to wonder if his money will be there when he returns.

It's why a lot of players will take the hundreds with them when they get up to go do whatever. It's easier to kipe bills than chips. I hate hundreds playing since it allows players to go south easier when they go to the bathroom, or where ever. That, and it's more difficult to tell weather a player has 1K or 1500 behind.

Here they dont allow bills at all, black chips are $100. maybe thats what you meant and I misunderstood. Now will the casino try to figure out who the guy was that stole the money? Here you usually swipe players card so they know who you are. And couldnt they prosecute? Maybe not worth it for $90 but ban the guy for life.

What kind of shitty casino is that? Why didn't the dealer remember that seat 3 was still occupied? The new guy should never have been allowed to sit down. And wow, that's ****ing bold by the seat 2 guy...

Ummm,,,,yeah dude, it really is pretty shitty. As long as they keep electing scoundrels and crooks for mayors they will never escape the cesspool status. That they failed to build the casinos along the river was another major blunder/misstep/failure to come back from the dead / political debauchery. The City is hopeless. Very sad.

yeah they said they got his face good enough so he wont be allowed back, as for seat 3's money....? my guess is they comped him mannnnnnny many dinners to equal his monetary lossedit* as for hundred dollar bills in play, i havent seen that since last summer, as the dealer sells chips at the table now, so i think thats a thing of the past, although i could be wrong...

QFT.How does nobody see seat 2 grab $90 in chips from an empty seat?!?!?! I could MAYBE see him taking a stack of chips in seat 3 had a bunch of stacks, but again, how does he take ALL his chips without anyone noticing???

Meh, Detroit seems to get nothing but hate these days. Yeah, Kwame screwed over Detroit pretty bad, and the city council is the most useless organization ever. I don't know, the downtown I've experienced hasn't been that bad. Then again, I've never gotten in a fight w/ a bum (my buddy has).I concede... Detroit blows. Grand Rapids>Detroit AINEC.

The whole Fox District by the casino's, fox theater, Joe Louis, Comerica Park, Ford Field and such is not in bad shape. Thanks to people like Illitch there are nice places in Detroit. Obviously you get away from that area beyond Wayne State and such it gets pretty ugly like any inner city in this country. Not the best city in the world by a freaking long shot but the WHOLE city and it's surrounding areas are not ghetto. I take great offense to that being that I live 12 minutes outside Detroit and I don't live in a freaking ghetto.

LOL, I live (when I'm home, not at school) 2 freeway exits, or about 1 1/2 minutes from Detroit. The outskirts of Detroit. Some areas are bad, or ghetto, or dangerous.. but I agree about the Fox District. I've seen a few concerts at State Theatre, St. Andrew's Hall, Cobo, etc... and the city is pretty nice around those parts.P.S. I remember hearing rumors that MTV was going to do a Real World: Detroit... and hold it in Royal Oak. LOL @ Royal Oak being "Detroit"
