jackoffsuit 0
I know there is skill in poker but of course there is alot of luck. To win a big tournament you have to get lucky. When a pro is being interviewed they usually say, I made some good plays but got lucky in certain hands.....Michael Mizrachi seems lucky to me. I seem to always see him get lucky. Then Daniel tells on his blog about making a 50 and 30 foot putt then chipping in from off the green. So, what do you think, are pros just luckier than the rest of us?And in your opinion who are the luckiest pros?

DonkSlayer 1
Yes and no.I believe in "bad luck"..meaning, you can play your cards right, but something that statistically happens only 20% of the time over 10 occurrences happens 4 times instead. If you play correctly, you "should" win, so it's not really "good" luck...I think it would be interesting if we could somehow measure a person's lifetime gambling or wagering results...for instance, if they played a game where at their skill and level, there were supposed to be successful 54% of the sessions, and when they die in a car accident at age 45, they were running at 62%...so is that person "lucky"? socalpoker_j 1
HaHa. I thought this was going to be about recognizing the element of luck that is involved in poker... but nevermind. Daniel must be using the laser-guided putter.

J-BoneKQ 0
Doyle Brunson says in super systems that people would often tell him that hes lucky or got lucky in a pot in his earlier days.Because he would often go in with the worst hand, but it would be the best drawing hand. so when he missed it he would fold and knowone would know what he had but when he hit it hte pot would pay him for all the other missed draws. the fact of the matter is poker is a game of consistancy.. everyone gets a lucky day and cant seem to lose and some days were they cant seem to win.... but most days are in between so the pros good overall play will keep them winning. and when they get luck+ there good play= a big payoff at the end of the day or that one bad luck day=almost a minimum loss because they kno how to roll with the punches of an off day were other would not. so thats my too cents!!! Ron_Mexico 4,219
Well, I believe in the soul, the c0ck, the pssy, the small of a woman's back, the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated crap. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days. UncleHoot 0
I typed up a big long answer, but in general, I just have the following philosphical conclusion. If you believe in God, then you probably believe that certain people can be luckier than other people. If you don't believe in God, then you probably do not believe in Luck either.Nevertheless, I believe in God, but I generally don't believe that He cares that much about making luck swing my way in poker. At times I've wondered if He was making it swing the wrong way just to get my attention, though. "Stop being so arrogant!" But mostly, I think it was my poor play that got me into trouble, and my arrogance made me play badly. So, there you have it, I think.

If you believe in God then you shouldn't believe it luck, but instead, believe what the Bible says, which is that everything is predestined.

nosoul 0
Poker is a combination of luck and skill. People think mastering the skill part is hard, but they're wrong. The trick to poker is mastering the luck.It doesn't take much to learn to check-raise or bluff. But truly understanding how the cards work seems to be hard for a lot of players to grasp.
