Why Is Cash Allowed At The Tables At Niagara?

Recommended Posts

Look, I'm not looking for a smarta ss response.
My response was in no way meant to be "smart assed". I was trying to answer your question behind the question. If you feel you got a fake bill, let the supervisor/manager/cashier/security guard/local cop know. There are procedures in place for this kind of event.

so, what do you think of the chiprunner idea? And what would you do if I came up to you with fake bills that I won? I assume you wouldn't be able to do anything practical in order to exchange those bills into real ones. I mean, the response did seem smarta ss because your response is a very generic one that doesn't really address the issue. You don't think that I could have thought of that? Geez. I'm more interested in the discussion of using chips at the table.

1 2 is the lowest. weekdays are slow I guess but I work so i don't really know.sng's yes but the rake is high and it's a crapshoot. I'll play them to blow some steam. cost around 30 bucks or something like that. No regular Mtt's that I know of.

CN and NFCR don't utilize chip runners as the dealer can sell chips at the table out of the tray. Supervisors can then run the accumulated cash to the cage at any later time. Increasing the cost of running a game (the wage of a chip runner) would only result in eventual increases in rake/session fees. The risk of fake bills in the poker room is no larger than the risk of the casino receiving them on the floor.

Your problem, not mine nor the Casino's. Once you "accept" the cash, it is yours - if fake, you eat it. Generally in the casinos where I play, the Dealer will refuse to touch the cash in play at the table other than to change it into chips. If you do not want cash in your stack, then insist that it be changed into chips before accepting it. Often cash is allowed to speed up play. If I have $500 in chips and someone wants to rebuy for $100, it is easier and quicker to slide him a stack for his cash rather than force the dealer to take time to exchange it. Also, any bills in the dealer ank must be spread and counted every time that there is a dealer change, further slowing down the game. Then when the Dealer bank is refreshed, it is again recounted and replaced with chips - again slowing down the game. Chip runners are fine, but are yet another "tip drain" and I have seen /heard of MANY disputed chip runner transactions.

I can't remember exactly but you'll know what I mean when you got there. Online, it's about 10%, live it's at least 20% or probably more for the sng's. But it's fun to shove right off the bat and not care about it. nutbar if you will. I never play those things seriously. The structure is super turbo.

I never see people tipping chip runners.

I always tip the chip runner if there is one. It's kind've expected.
that's what I think too, but from the times I've seen it, people don't tip. I have yet to use one myself as I haven't been to vegas too many times and luckily haven't been felted in a cash game but I usually have some extra chips in my pocket i.e. 25 or 100's to top up if needed.

I'm going over to Fallsview tonight, never had problems with fake bills while I've been there, hopefully tonight is the same.
How will I know you?

I think a FCP barrage of some Niagara cash games is warranted... Maybe 13 Cards can get us a mixed game going if we show up with enough :club:
I work at NFCR not CN.

"better" is in the eye of the beholder but I always goto Fallsview. Bigger, mo' money, mo' huney.

I almost always go to Niagara, but only because I never play higher than 1-2NL and I hate paying a time charge for those stakes. $10 an hour in rake with a max buyin of $100 is a useless game at Fallsview. You fold for 2 hours and your stack is reduced by 20%. The rake at Niagara at least doesn't force me to play.

i'm sorry. what is a time charge? like in addition to rake you have to pay money for how long you play too? or is the rake the time charge you're talking about.i'm just an internet player. i might arrive in my pajaymas and my piss bowl.i've spent the day researching about tip and ettiquette :club:

I'm thinkin you might be better off visiting one of my home games unless ur hustling the forum :PBut to answer your question there are 2 common methods that casinos profit from poker rooms.1. Rake - you're familiar with this. a % of each pot is taken is "raked" from the pot. Typically 10% to some max number. at Fallsview only Limit games are charged by rake.2. Session Fee (re: time chage) - This is applicable to all NL games at Fallsview but common in cardrooms. Basically you pay a set amount every 30-minutes instead of the rake. For the 1-2 NLH the session is $5 per 30-min.
