HU is sooooooo, so, so, so different from 6-max. The majority of the time, it's hard to impossible to look at a hand and say whether it was played well or badly (with the exception of many of Acid's hands which are played badly) because it's such a feel-based discipline of poker. After playing a ton of HU hands, you'll start to see patterns that cause you to play a hand in a specific way that you can't really explain or justify what you were doing just by looking at a hand history. I'm not sure if this is an argument for coaching or not. It's probably "for" since a good coach can probably spot and explain these situations easily enough. It's just, a lot of the times when you ask a HU player why he folded/called/shoved, they'll say, "Ummm, I don't know...just felt right."
Sounds a lot like how I play. Though I might be doing that but making the wrong play, lol. HU is just so fast that I get in a little zone and don't think a whole lot. King... AIM is SuitedUpKurt (I think it's in my profile, so doesn't really matter if I post it.)

CTS is (I think) $1200 an hour.
I'm severely tempted to empty my life savings just for two hours of this

I think the standard is that you work out your hourly rate and make it slightly more than that, I saw MasterLJ advertising HU coaching for $300/hour and given how good he is I imagine that's near the top bracket of coaching rates.
I disagree that this should be the rate for a lot of reasons:1. It's variance free money.2. It's less stressful.3. I think there is a lot of self satisfaction to watch someone grow into a good player. If I started coaching I would do it for substantially less than my hourly for those reasons. Not saying that isn't what people in the industry do, I just don't think its right. Most likely a lot of people see coaching as a pain in the ass but are WILLING to do it if they can make more than their hourly.

Except what can you really do in 2 hours? That's why I don't get having an hourly rate for poker coaching. Are they treating it like a lesson plan or what? I just can't imagine you can pick up everything you need in a couple hours.

Hourly rates usually aren't one or two sessions (although its up to the player). Most people pay an hourly with the expectation that they will pay for 6 or 8 or 10 sessions.

Okay, I just slept for 14 hours straight so that I can stay awake for the next 24 hours and exploit my Card Runners Day Pass. :icon_dance:EDIT: Just one question. On one page it says a day pass is $14.99 for unlimited videos, then on another it says it's $17 for up to 50... Can anyone clarify which it is?

IIRC, you play 25nl. Start with Brystmar's series on ssnl (I think it's 5 parts) and while some of what he teaches may seem simple and basic, a lot of what you learn from the higher limit instructors will get you into fps trouble at the lower limits. It's a very basic TAG approach to these limits and will be well worth your 5 hours imo.I don't know what the deal is with the one day pass.

Master LJ @ $300 is pretty cheap. On 2s cracked, they have listings. Whitelime is listed at $1200/hr and Krantz is higher since it says "inquire for pricing."I think CTS gets well over $1200 and still doesn't have time to coach all of the people who want to pay him. Must be a tough life, having too many people who want to pay you $1500+ an hour to do something.

I'd pay you 1500cents an hour to coach me.

Some mongoloid SNAP shipped A5s to my 3bet today and I snap called 99. Of course he got there. This didn't tilt me. What did tilt me was him shipping over a buyin the very next hand by raising, cold calling a cold 4bet, and then calling the 5bet with 42o and leaving.

So I'm cancelling my subscription to PXF since I never use it and was wondering if somebody would want to take it over? I don't want any money just maybe let me use it once in a great while ( I don't really play tournies anymore). Anyway, if you know anybody who might be interested let me know, shoot me a pm or hit me up at Napa Don Poker on aim. I think my subscription is going to run out at the end of the month so it has to be in the next day or two.Edit: Sorry if it isn't clear, I'm just wondering if somebody wanted to take over the monthly payments and avoid the signup fee.

Here's an interesting hand that came up in a 1/2 NL live game earlier tonight.Straddled pot, 3 limps to hero (button, $162) who raises 6h7h to $20SB calls, Straddler (villian ~$200) calls.Pot = $75Villian had been raising his straddle often, I didn't want to limp only to have to call $20 more to see the hand, so I decided to take initiative and try and take down the already sizeable pot.Flop = KdTh2ccheck to hero, who c-bets $45. SB folds, Villian calls Pot = $165Having played many hands with both of them, I feel that I'd find out immediately if they had a big part of this flop (big draw or 2pair/trips etc). Both players play extremely passive without 2 pair or better, and know that I c-bet many flops, so they will float any pair in this situation. I know that and am prepared to shove the turn if I get one caller. Villian's call looks a lot like a T to me, and I think another bet will take it down, as I rarely will double-barrel without a big piece of the hand.Turn = AhVillian checks, Hero shoves for $97 moreThis is the ideal card for me, as I can know represent an AJ/AQ type hand, QJ, or AK and possibly get a good king to fold, and even if he calls I'm 20% to win. Villian tanked for 2 minutes before calling, showing KQo. The way he was debating it seemed like one of those where he was 50/50 on whether to call or fold. I figured that against his exact hand he'd only have to fold around 17% of the time for this to be +EV. Of course I brick and continue not to see a hand I can use this crazy image to my advantage with until I get it in w/ AK vs. KK. It's hard to have a crazy image when you flop air everytime.Anyways I'm coming to Vegas next week to see what all the fuss is about. You'll prob. see me at the Rio playing the low-limit cash games trying to profit from these "bad tourists". GL to all who are playing in the tourneys now and I hope to see you still in the ME when I get there!

Holy monstrous preflop raise. I'm not a fan of the preflop tbh, committing that much of your stack with a hand you need some room to play with postflop. Although I like your shove on that turn card, and it's a card I'd bet strong with air often, if I'm villain I'm snap calling. The reason being that he is getting like 2.8:1 and it's a great card for someone to bluff, so I generally snapcall that card.
