Rman3911 0
I'm going to Washington state for about 10 days and I'm just wondering if anybody in this state recently has been arrested or fined etc. Also, if any of you living in Washinton, have you been playing and just ignoring this law? Thanks guys!
Tiltinagain 973
I'm in Washington and, while I don't play on line that much, I know several people that do and I haven't heard of anyone being arrested. Everyone I know still plays online as much as ever without giving it much thought really. The chances of anyone ever being arrested for this are slim and none imo.Being here for 10 days, I wouldn't think twice about playing. Enjoy!
shamhawks 0
Yeah,I'm in jail right now but lucky for me my cell mate has been in awhile and has his laptop for such good behavior....won't tell you what i have to do to have access to his computer and post this. ok seriously, I did quit in June/July as I'm a Federal Officer and have alot to lose if caught obviously. I have started playing again this past week but I also now have a girlfriend in Canada, so I go up to her place and play legally.I really don't think they will ever come after the individual player, but I'm trying to be a little safe about my online play. Also, I'm going to be playing on dial up, not sure if that will make a difference or not. Another thing is I'll be playing at my Mom's house, so I DEFINITELY do not want to get her in trouble if I'm playing at her place.

Like others have said, really wouldn't worry about it...just don't say you heard that from me.....lol...take care
k-10isnogood 0
does anyone know anybody that has ever been arrested for online play ever? I think it's never going to happen, unless someone did something stupid like sue the wpt and drag poker through the mud. But nobody's that dumb.
jdquads 0
I play every day all the time. If they catch me they catch. Wifes a lawyer and we will fit it to the end. In order for them to track you the indvidual sites would have to give up your name and isp address and track it back to you. If the sites started doing this they would lose a lot of bussiness and it would be in the news so until then I wouldnt worry about it.

Or what site you have visited? This is just basic internet stuff.
Rman3911 0
Bumping this just cuz I arrived to WA today and while I was on the plane I read a cardplayer article saying that it's a freagin felony.
zsta2k6 0
theoretically, they could catch you without much of a struggle, but it would require a lot of footwork by your ISP, and realistically, the manpower needed to do such work would not be worth it to catch one person. They would have to monitor addresses packets are being sent, cross referencing those addresses with the addresses of the poker sites, once confirmed they would have to look what ip those packets are being sent to, who that IP is assigned to, then you get screwed. But there is about a .01% likelyhood of all that work being done to catch one person playing internet poker.

True, but then would have to prove that while I might be on the poker site, did I play for money, or just playing for free.
GmanIV 0
what I do in the privacy of my own bedroom is none of the Govt damn business, what I do in the privacy of my own home in front of my computer is none of the Govts damn business!periodif you live on WASH state and worried, heres what u do.Get dial up, get a AOL account, or Netzero, ect, then make up some fake address, say you live in TX. Then dial in and play ! For even more safety, dial a TX or Vegas phone number to log in AOL with.
JackedEight 0
It is a felony that is on the same level as child molestation. How screwed up are lawmakers? I play as much if not more than I did before and I live in Washington. They are focusing more on people that may be trying to start sites in the state. The individual player has little to no chance to be caught, unless you were laundering money for the Bolivian gov't.
Seattleallstar 0
ive stopped playing ever since the "law" was taken into action. I thought about continuing to play, but my names on pstars, dise, and UB has the name Seattle in it and it would be dumb to keep on trying. Im still unsure about the freerolls thought, as I havent gotten a clear answer if its ok to play in freerolls. I left playing online poker as a few thousand dollars richer, since then ive donked it off by playing bigger limit games at casinos, blackjack, horse racing, and impressing girls who didnt even give it up to me. game breaker 0
What I don't get is that Washington is a leftist, liberal state; yet, I thought it was Republicans trying to put this into place at the national level in the house. Sounds like a short amount of time till we all get squeezed.
Rman3911 0
Well I guess I'll go ahead and play. If I get caught, I"M COMING FOR ALL OF YOU! Anyway, has anybody actually been arrested for this yet?
psujohn 0
What I don't get is that Washington is a leftist, liberal state; yet, I thought it was Republicans trying to put this into place at the national level in the house. Sounds like a short amount of time till we all get squeezed. Maryland is a leftist liberal state too and here it's illegal to play a home game with no rake - legal in most states. Hell in my county you can't even buy beer and wine in the grocery store. The down side of liberals (and I'm one myself) is that they think they know what's best for you.The republicans don't want you to gamble because the bible says not to.The democrats just want to save you from yourself. Can't win. medicalmj 0
I dont think its likely players will get in a huge amount of trouble but you never know. They could always want to make an example of somebody. It's pretty sad that a guy selling crack to kids can get less jail time then someone playing 25cent holdem on his computer in his house. If anyone ever does get arrested for this I would bet money that the judge wouldnt punish them very hard, it would be all over the news and there would be a huge public outcry if someone actually went to prison for playing some poker.Whats even more ironic is that its perfectly legal to go play at a card house in washington. But its a felony if you play through a computer.Lawmakers really ****ed up on this one. I dont support banning any type of poker but I'd understand a little more if they went after actual poker sites, but to go after the poker players thats just insane.
bhaas 0
Lets say you were caught. Do you think that the state would be able to convince 12 jurors that you committed a felony while playing poker on the Internet? The said felony is only a code violation written by a corrupt gov.The question to the jury is a simple one. Do you believe in the constitution and the freedom it provides or did we willingly give up our constitutional freedoms to have them replaced with RCW (code). The answer is simple. HELL FUCKING NO!!!Not guilty. Case dismissed.
