Just Wanting Ppls Opinion On What I Should Do

Recommended Posts

I'm in the same situation you have posted about. I took a $20 no deposit nec. bonus and worked it up to about $450 in about 90 hours of play. Its not alot to some, but its alot for me, and it will put me closer to the black this year for poker in general. (I'm in the red about 400 or so from live poker this year). This is what im going to do, and for anyone else please feel free to comment on my plan, but i intend to cash out $400 to make sure i come out ahead for all the time i spent on this, and then use the $50 to climb back up to where you are now, and then start to build your roll and attempt to move up limits within time. I think its important to at least give yourself back something to show for your time, instead of taking the risk of blowing it all without nothing to show for it.

If you cash out $400, you're just asking to lose the remaining $50.

You've got the money for books, so you don't need it. But, you could withdraw half and treat yourself to something nice, and keep the other half online and try to keep building it. That way you get to keep playing poker and you'll also feel like you have something to show for it.
Take your roll off the site you are playing it on. Put it into a site where you can get a 100% first time deposit bonus. Once you've cleared the bonus, hopefully you can take $400 out if necessary and still have at least $400 in your bankroll.
Both are great ideas. Take advantage of a first time depositor's bonus, and then withdrawal a few hundred to buy yourself something. As far as making mistakes, we all do it. What's important is that you're still building your bankroll and earning money despite those errors. I would keep at it and who knows, poker could be your source of income during school. Sure as hell beats finding a part time job flipping burgers.

OK i just recently deposited 50 bucks online 5 months ago, have built it to 400 playing micro limits. my original goal was to reach 400 which covers the cost for my books next year for school. however i have enough saved up to buy the books without my online money. my question is should i just keep building my roll, or withdraw it for books. I will be honest im a decent player but i do make huge mistakes, im still learning. any advice would be greatly appreciated
stay at low limits and move up when you feel comfortable

not if you go back to playing micro limits that are within your bankroll. I'm talking .5 cent . 10 cent NLHE. Wait a minute. This is a terrible idea. I'm going to leave the money right where it is.

It all depends on what your goal is. My best advice for you if you keep playing is bankroll management. I made 2000 dollars this summer playing poker and blew it all in about the course of a week. Allways have at least 10 if not 20 buyins not matter what stakes you play (assuming NL). I went up to 2/4 and to my suprise it was easier than 1/2. The problem was that the good players were better and the bad players worse, the good players got the better of me. Even if a limit seems easy u should allways have at least 10 buyins before you play at a certian limit. Good luck with whichever path you choose.

Honestly, cash out half-$200. You get 200 in your pocket, and you have 200 to experiment with. I recommend taking 100 of your 200 into the $1-$2 tables, but since u claim to be a novice, if you aren't aggressive enough, either buy in the $1-$2 tables with all 200, or play at a .50-1.00 table. Either way it's win-win, u get profit to cash out, and you get money to build and experiment with. Good luck in college!
