benhoug 0
I've been living w/ my fiance for almost a month, and have barely played any cards in that time. I used to play b/t 20 and 30 hours a week, now I'm lucky if I play 5. She's not really AGAINST poker, but she's certainly not in favor of it. Anyone else here been through somethign similar??? hblask 1
I taught my wife to play, she may be more addicted then me. It was either teach her poker or talk about feelings. Easy choice.More seriously, if you start giving up pieces of yourself that big right now, you are going to have troubles eventually. Figure out what's more important, because if you make the wrong choice, the costs later can be quite high.See if she'll learn, though. Let her run the mouse and play the 10 cent room for a half hour with your guidance.
holdingnutz 0
Yes- my wife and I get in arguments about it all the time. Basically, I've come to the conclusion that my family is more important than poker- so family comes first. I find there are times to play that don't interfere with "family time" as much and don't cause as much of a problem.

Anyone else here been through somethign similar???Your not even married, and starting bad habits. You must assert yourself and demand your right to play cards. If you don't do it now, you are done; you will set a pattern of behavior that she will come to expect (much like bringing a girl flowers on a first date is such a mistake).Play every day, all day; then when you actually give her some time, she will appreciate it more.Thoughts from a happily divorced dude. SBriand 4
Man I am soooo lucky that my wife completely and utterly supports my love for poker. She watches me play. She watches all the poker on TV with me. She is there when I am feeling down after a tough loss and picks me right back up. Anytime I feel like giving it up she gets me out of that funk. She buys me poker books and stuff on bdays and xmas and always asks me how I did every day. She has never gotten made when I lost hundreds and has been there to celebrate when I win hundreds. We went through some financial problems when we refinanced our house and I was going to delve into my BR to help us out and she demanded that I do not, that was mine that I worked hard to get to where it was at and she wouldn't feel right using it for anything but poker. Gotta lover her!
Yoda 1
No offense, but tell your fiance to get a fucking hobby. What is her problem that she can't understand you like to play poker with your spare time? When I play hours of poker, my fiance reads a book, or scrapbooks, or catches up on Tivo stuff that I have no interest in. As long as you aren't using poker as an excuse to dodge important things, or blowing your savings (which would just make you a bad boyfriend/husband) there shouldn't be an issue here.I am sorry to say, that this is a marriage doomed to fail. -HAL9000- 0
Sounds like you have 2 choices, a future wife or poker... you can't have both without one being mad at the other... trust me.
Yoda 1
Sounds like you have 2 choices, a future wife or poker... you can't have both without one being mad at the other... trust me.It has nothing to do with poker - it's just another chick that is more up in his business then living her own life. More importantly - post us a picture of this chick and we will tell you if it is really worth it.

My pops went on and on while i was in college about how poker is all luck and gambling and i'm gonna end up broke, cuz "casino's always win".I had to explain to him that i played other people, and not the house. finally after i won my 1st MTT, i took him and his wife out for a expensive dinner, and drinks and explained to them how i won, and how there is more than luck.anyways, now he loves playing, and he even stole my negreanu chip set from me that i got after the vegas trip
