Whoever Runs This Tourney

Recommended Posts

Is there anyway I can play a match vs. vatche even though my team forfeited. I am here to play, and even though our team doesn't deserve, I would really appreciate a second chance.

Tsk, tsk.As captain I am slightly worried as it is 3 hours before game time for CC Riders and Theresa has not posted pre-game info yet. You better not be all hungover from partying too hard at the wedding missy!PS PM sleuthis or DN I imagine but I don't know...

i responded to your pm GrinderMJ...it would not be a smart move on my part to risk it, plus DN said that there are no exceptions.
That D.N. ...Such a hardass! :club: Tough situation there Grinder, but they are pretty strict with the rules.

Rules are rules, but I think Vatche should give Grinder a shot, especially if he has a decent excuse, i.e. cat ran away. Plus, I don't want any free wins in my division!
A forfeit is a forfeit................if we allow this game, then we have to allow ramrod as well.........and then we have to go back to week one and allow another game...............enough said.

The rulles are very simple, very strict, and also very fair. We can't start playing favorites or that wouldn't go over well. You guys should ALWAYS have more than one person ready to play. Today, Me, Jayboogie, cfinnn, and Waffles2003 were all in the lobby "just in case."

Rules are Rules..Can't change them during the season.Although, I will say this. A team that "wins" a match through Default, SHOULD lose a tie breaker to a team that actually did EARN all their wins..

i disagree. they never had the opportunity to win, therefore they are being punished that their opponents did not show up.tiebreakers should go to a bikini contest. wives and girlfriends are substitutable.

I wouldn't unless it's a lock anyway. Like playing Zimmer for instance.
i was 5 minutes late on my 1st game and they didnt allow me to play, its pretty stupid
You mean 35 min late? You have a 30 min grace period unless I'm mistaken.

I understand that you are punishing the team that got a win by forfeit..But they were unfairly rewarded with a win already...Doesn't that break even?

i see what you are saying but i disagree, even if it didnt happen to me...you cant punish a team because another team didnt show up.

But that is my point Vatche..They really are being rewarded...I guess we will leave that to the commish if it does come up...BTW..I heard you were playing my boy (stevepd) HU...how did he play, how was the match?

ya, i was sitting at the 50+4 and when i saw his name, i knew he was from fcphu...i was pretty card dead and lost, but i could tell he knows what hes doing...even if i wasnt card dead, it wouldve been a tough match...i like his heads up game, hes probably one of the best players in the league.

i recall playing stevepd a couple of times at 50 and maybe 100 hu. I think i won but he was solid
He is my student.I am a proud papa. :blush:To be honest, he was always a good player but I gave him a few pointers that he seems to have taken and ran with. Smart guy.

It's an intruiging idea to have a tie breaker decided in that manner but just not feasable. It would be unfair to have a team lose a tiebreaker because they never had a chance to win or lose the game in the first place. The BEST way is to simply avoid forfeits at all. Teams should always have back ups ready. My team for example had to change players at the last minute due to some disconnection problems from the player who was supposed to play. We had two others ready to go.It's important in a league such as this one to have as few forfeits as possible. In fact, with too many, the league simply won't work.So its up to everyone involved to ensure there are not many and also important to be strick on the rules.Sure a minute late seems unfair - but where is the line drawn? 2 minutes? - 10 minutes? We give a 30 minute grace period, if we add another 10 minutes, then a player who is 11 minutes late will feel its unfair - "it's only a minute".There has to be some cut off point. - and its 30 minutes. If we allow teams to play after being late for a match, it would simply create more problems down the road. Players will not make every effort to make their games knowing they can simply make them up later. After all, how could we disallow one player to make up their forfeited match after allowing another to do it?Sometimes the rules seem strict and unfair, but that is why they are there. Its also important to have these issues out in the open with threads such as this one - its EVERYONES resposibility as part of the league to keep on each others backs and keep this league (which I think everyone is already enjoying) running as smoothly as possible.

I would agree, let's just try to avoid them. That being said, it's going to be difficult to step out on my Mother's Day obligations this Sunday for a Poker League, but I'll be there.

Sleuthis has been running our hockey pool for over 10 years now, and it's clear that his methods make for a good league. In our league, you must submit your lineups by 6:00pm even though games don't start until 7:00pm. If your lineup comes in at 6:01pm then it is simply too late and won't count. Once you guys all get the hang of the severity and strictness of the rules you'll understand how important it is to be prepared. The start time is 10:00am. If you can't make it by 10:30am, then you deserve to lose the game. Sorry to those who have default losses, but the rules are the same for everybody and that's the only way to go.
