chgocubs99 0
Using the PokerStars tournament as a guide, I can only assume that Major Tournaments, such as WSOP events and even the main event, have some sort of a deal consumated, and probably more than just occasionally. I assume these are not broadcast for the obvious TV implications...but it makes me wonder just how often deals are done. Does anyone know, and any way to know what deals get done when? Butcho22 0
Deals are made often at major tounaments, except of course the WPT which prohibits them. As far as when they are made......you can speak up at anytime and propose a deal with the other players, no matter how many are left at the FT. It's up to the group to decide what to do
doublemeup 0
DYK that Harrington when he won the ME refused a deal when he was the shortstack at the FT?

champsox 0
DYK that Harrington when he won the ME refused a deal when he was the shortstack at the FT?I think that's wrong, double. I remember the story that he actually proposed a deal after each player was eliminated at the FT. He even said he'd help them invest their winnings so they could all become millionaires. Everybody refused and he went on to win it.

chrozzo 19
i hear they arrange these deals while in adjacent bathrrom stalls during the breaks
blakheart 3
Some pro's, like Daniel, won't do deals as a matter of principal. And of course the WPT tournamnets, where you really would like to make a deal, prohibits them.
Suited_Up 2
yes, that's correct, he was the one actually pushing very hard for the deal, not the one refusing it.Yes.And it makes it a much better story actually.
EvilGN 0
I can not speak for ME tournys, but I know for a fact some of the lesser tournaments that get played do allow chop pots in the WPT. Just clarifiying so if anyone one of us is in one of the smaller buy in games, this option is still available.

Highlow16 0
Hellmuth and Chan cut a deal when they were heads up in the main event. They got it all in preflop and Hellmuth proposed a deal. Chan was behind and accepted.
SportsW234 0
WPT has banned deals ever since Paul Phillips and Mel Judah made a deal at the WPT Legends tournament in season 2. Deals at WSOP use to be highly common. In the 90's I would say around 25% to 33% events were settled in deals. I know some deals took place in non-TV events at the 2004 WSOP, but I haven't heard about any deals in the TV events at the WSOP.

fleung22 1
Don't quote me on this because I am not sure whether it is fact or fiction but......I've heard around the camp fire that Men "The Master" Nguyen will get a bunch of his unknown students into the same tournament as him and if they sit at the same table they are required to dump chips to him.It sounds so evil and I really hope this is a horrible made-up story. If anybody knowns anything about this rumour I'd love to hear it. Any of the other events the happen at the same casino before the main event have nothing to do with the WPT. They are run by the casino.

Any of the other events the happen at the same casino before the main event have nothing to do with the WPT. They are run by the casino.I guess I see what you are getting at, I was simply saying that at all of these circuit events, or whatever you want to call them, chopping does occur and may be allowed. The makeup of personnel at these events can be tough to distiguish between event staff and hotel staff...so when I go to the Gold Strike World Poker Open, and Cardplayer has it listed as a WPT event, I call it a WPT event. Getting away from the original topic though, as it was "Major" Events he was asking about....
