mrdannyg 274
hahahahaa, you're joking, right? if not, you sound like a 47-year-old long-haired guy who hangs out at guitar center on the weekends trying to recruit people to play in his latest hendrix cover band.I am not joking, 90% of my music is probably from before 1980, and the newer stuff is just mostly crap like Ace of Base or Blues Traveler. The analogy I prefer is that my music playlist is similar to what that old guy is listening to who used to sit in his old Chevy in your high school's parking lot during lunch hour, wearing aviators and eating chicken wings. Both are accurate though. CardWarfare 4
current:"Little Wing (live)" - G3. this song, and 'rockin the free world' are friggin unbelievable. The G3 cover of "Voodoo Chile" is amazing as well.Which lineup did little wing? Vai/Satch/Malmsteen? or vai/Satch/Petrucci
missIdaho 1
I wore out my sense of humour with the Bizzle joke earlier, I'm taking a rest now.I'm not trying to be subversive, it's a simple fact that America has a limited history due to the fact that it is comparatively young. It's still got a rich culture and history of it's own, but I think people who don't travel to Europe or Asia for example are missing out on an important experience.Just because our country doesn't have a bunch of really old buildings, doesn't mean we are anyway less educated in history or in any other way. I personally would love to visit Europe and am planning on doing so in the next year, but I don't consider myself ignorant since I haven't already done so.
CardWarfare 4
I see plenty of them dealing 21 around here....They must like our crappy old airport buildings here betterIs anyone else enjoying the beans/LG debate as much as I am?

mrdannyg 274
Sick of this.hint: some of us just make up random letters, with a few convienient combinations (like QFT), because they're so friggin annoying.you gotta take the man down from the insideThe G3 cover of "Voodoo Chile" is amazing as well.Which lineup did little wing? Vai/Satch/Malmsteen? or vai/Satch/Petruccithe former - its the G3 Live: Rockin The Free World double-CD

CardWarfare 4
the former - its the G3 Live: Rockin The Free World double-CDExcellent choice.Vai/Sat/Johnson > Vai/Sat/Malm >>>>>>> Vai/ Sat/ Petrucci.I've actually heard that Petrucci was booed off stage on a few occasions, simply because he didn't match up to Johnson on the previous tour. Pretty harsh, since he is still pretty sick, but funny because I hate Dream Theater.
renaedawn 1
currently:"Triolgy Suite Op. 5: The First Movement" - Yngwie Malmsteenhow's that for smug?Actually, I think you're not doing so well on the smug thing since I own 2 Malmsteen albums. You a Satriani fan too? How about John Petrucci?

How about John Petrucci?not yet - the G3 and Satriani are among the 5 CDs i've bought since napster went down. i'm adapting slowly.probably in the next couple months, i'll make a solid list and go on a shopping spree. all the G3 stuff, petrucci and dream theatre will be on the list.also possibly some new stuff, if i were to receive some recommendations (ahem).and yes mex, SDRE is on the list

How about John Petrucci? See above.edit: see above above the above. go on...I think it's the lead singer's voice that gets me. I have tremenous respect for the band aside from him, since they are all absolutely ridiculous at their instruments. (Petrucci, ironically, is probably the least proficient out of the bunch IMO)Plus it would be way to stereotypical for me to like them. Then I could run around college campuses world wide wearing tight asian preppy clothing and yelling, "Me love Dream Feat-uh! Me love Dream Feat-uh!"

Hey wait...Excellent choice.Vai/Sat/Johnson > Vai/Sat/Malm >>>>>>> Vai/ Sat/ Petrucci.I've actually heard that Petrucci was booed off stage on a few occasions, simply because he didn't match up to Johnson on the previous tour. Pretty harsh, since he is still pretty sick, but funny because I hate Dream Theater.I saw the G3 tour with Petrucci as well as 2 with Johnson. Sadly, I missed the Malmsteen one.Petrucci was great when we saw him. He's much better alone than with Dream Theater IMO.
CardWarfare 4
Petrucci was great when we saw him. He's much better alone than with Dream Theater IMO.He is extremely talented, but it just shows how absurd Vai/Satch are that he looks like a palsy kid when put next to them. However, his version of "Flight of the bumblebee" is pretty nasty. I learned it, it's a bit of a fingertrap, but do-able. He does have a great tone though. That much I'll give him.
mrdannyg 274
Well, that answers my Satriani question. Will you marry me? How do you feel about losing your virginity to Crystal Planet?very positively. like, currently browsing flights, positively.i was going to say its bad news that "up in the sky" is probably the best sexing song, but that it's the first one on the album. we won't kid ourselves though, i won't even make it to the bridge.See above.edit: see above above the above. CardWarfare 4
is dream theatre typically asian? the only people i know that like them are guitar wonks.are you also a Yes fan?No, but for some reason whenever I'm going to record/music shops around Manhattan with my friend, there are always flocks of gooks mauling the Dream Theater records. I don't know why, but it just became a joke with us. I once went over to a group browsing a section, excuse my way through saying, " Scuse me, I'm just looking for some of the early Dream Theater stuff."My lack of accent gave me away though, and they just ignored me.Never really heard much Yes to be honest. CardWarfare 4
I have Ah Via Musicom and Venus Isle from Eric Johnson.I need to check out more of his stuff. All I've heard from him was his work on G3, but he was my favorite of that group. I've been on a guitar kick lately, and if anyone would like to be completely blown away, check out Al Di Meola, and then Paco De Lucia. Absolutely absurd. Specifically, "Race with the Devil on a spanish highway" by DiMeola, or anything off his "Elegant Gypsy" album. It's mostly accoustic flamenco style insanity. This guy is my guitar hero, along with Zakk Wylde, Dimebag Darrell, Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan.Which, yes, makes me a weird ass guitar player.

All I've heard from him was his work on G3, but he was my favorite of that group.I'll burn it for you if you want as well. It's really bluesy. You can definitely hear the Stevie Ray Vaughn/Austin music scene influence in it.
