SuitedAces21 2,722
brvy, spring for a corvette. we've worked so hard, lets live a little. guess what? something unprecedented in the history of corporate america happened to me. i was assigned more work and was not monetarily compensated for it. long story short, decisions like the one i shared a few weeks back about the down payment are made by employees based on levels and the levels apply to dollar amounts. i was moved from level 1 to level 2, giving me the same approval level as my immediate manager. there is only one level 3 per market and level 4 only has national executives. basically this means i will do all the manager approvals for level 2 in kansas city, freeing my boss from said work. i should have known when i made it clear i wanted this "promotion" i'd get exactly what i deserved. InternetExplorer 2,609
When is your raise cycle? It’s real confusing, almost like they’re trying to make you more appealing to other firms.
Essay21 2,385
Raises are in February. This is just getting the next 9 months of this added responsibility for free.

Essay21 2,385
Possibly. My age is still against me on that one though. I like where I’m at generally, my salary is just 20% too low for what I manage. Hopefully we get there next February.

Essay21 2,385
How's your networking going? I don't know how it works in that world. My network is pretty solid. There’s just not a lot of openings in KC. Not ones that pay more than what I make already.

Easy enough to think it’s freeing up your boss at no extra cost, until you get your boss’s job at a competitor. There's a cast for that. Manager Tools sets a tough standard for promotion. You have to be able to do all of your job to the top performance standard AND 50% of your boss's job. Not all companies will be this tough on you, but if you set your goal there, you'll be far ahead of the competition. https://www.manager-tools.com/2014/06/getting-ready-be-promoted-150-rule
Napa Lite 3,278
Goddamn if the old guy in the cubicle next to me isn’t threatening to body slam me he’s asking what I’m working on or what I’m doing this weekend or he’s saying how he doesn’t feel like working today and goddamn dude fvcking I don’t give a shit. It was funny the first few times. Now it’s a little sad. This weekend I went back to dsm for a buddies surprise birthday party and to hangout with some other friends and I just told everybody I didn’t have anything planned for the weekend because I didn’t want to talk to them. Fvck.
Essay21 2,385
Cut the guy a break. He probably watched all three captain America movies, all three Thor movies and both avengers movies this past weekend and just wants to talk to a human person. He probably even ordered an 80 dollar iron man action figure to put next to his MCU dvd collection.
Napa Lite 3,278
I’ve been learning a monthly process of his so I’m sitting at his desk and I see a note that says “workout 3 times a week...eat better...get a hobby” and I don’t know if ive ever felt more sorry for a 60 yr old man. Napa Lite 3,278
I recently went through all the MU movies up until Infinity War or whatever it’s called. Still need to see that.
brvheart 1,752
I have a '14 Impala and I don't know that I'd want to go much older. That of course assumes improvements in things like the infotainment system each newer model year which I guess might not be the case but, regardless, I would look to new models than '13 or '14. I would like to get one that I can connect to via bluetooth. I feel like that would raise my standard of living significantly. (Right now I just use a dongle)
Napa Lite 3,278
2011 lets you connect for phone calls only. Music/podcasts you still need a dongle.
hank213 1,823
'14 allows bluetooth connection. It ain't great though. The sound quality is somewhat diminished for media. Calls work pretty well though.

Napa Lite 3,278
Brvy, you ever done any electrical work? My house* has a bunch of outlets that aren’t grounded or GFI and I’d like to fix that. Part of my basement ceiling is exposed and the house isn’t huge or anything so I don’t think running new wires would be too difficult to do. I’m just a little leary about hooking up to the box as well as making sure it’s up to code. Do electricians do consulting where they just come and make sure it’s all good before the inspector? One of my best friends out here is a master electrician (He was a lead electrician on the new Bucks arena in Milwaukee). As we get closer, I'll ask him if he would like to come up with me. Side Note: You can absolutely pay electricians to sign off on your electrical work.
Napa_Don 688
Well, that's certainly not necessary, your friend coming along, I mean. The paying the electrician might have to happen.
