I plan to have pop and chips and some sandwiches(food cost $30.00) I just buy bags of chips for $1 and 2litre pops for $1.50.What is the basic% for the house or typical rake??? I use to charge $5.00, but now I want to make more since it is becoming very popular.Any suggesstion?? I would just pay top 3!!!what is the usual % taken in tournaments??? swiftD777 0 Posted March 13, 2006 Share Posted March 13, 2006 It depends on your crowd, but if it's good people, you could just put a jar next to the fridge and suggest people put a dollar or two in if they are going to be eating or drinking.Or take 10% but if your game ever gets bigger and ends up getting busted you will be in a lot more trouble for charging a rake than for having a friendly game among 'friends'.Rake in home games is -EV in my opinion. I would not play in a tournament, anywhere, that took more than 10%. That is hefty already. Most players would agree with me. Give up. Link to post Share on other sites

You get to show it off, and its just a nice thing. I would NEVER pay any amount of rake at anyones house. You can ask each person to bring different food, but never charge for rake. But if you think your going to find anyone who is gonna play in a tournament at your house that takes more than a 10% rake your kidding yourself. Casinos don't take more than 10% and you get free alcohol there so why the hell do you think you should get more than 10% for holding at tourament at your house. Link to post Share on other sites

I had around $50 left over, and put the money i had left back into the priza pool. Having a fun tourney for a group of friends is not about profit....i did happen to win the tourney though. However, I rig the entire game so win, which pays off the chips, pop and pizza...Alright, everything except that last part.
