My buddy keeps stroking(te hehe) my ego about how the player pool is so bad there and how I could clean up etc and since we have monday off for MLKJr Day and both of us have little free time in the near future, this might be our only shot. The race for the buyin to an event at the poker classic in feb. is fairly tight so I need to finish top 3 to maintain my lead therefore I can't skip. I'm still kinda pissed at the floor people there so I'm not 100% sure I'll play the tourney if I win, but I still want the bragging rights of owning my homegame.A word on the shoe poker. I haven't played there in a while but I doubt it's changed much. It's very aggro at the 1/3 nl tables. people have no idea how to play. but a little conservatism, solid positional play, and mediocre reads should make for a profitable trip as long as negative variance doesn't have a firm grip on your short n curlies. People had their complaints when it first got off the ground, but no one cared bc the people here were enjoying the thread. Now it's become a collection of people who are (for the most part) annoying as hell outside the thread, and even the people here don't like it anymore. We were sitting at the bar having a beer and this chick walks up to me and says that her friend thinks I'm hot and wants to know if I wanted to come over and talk to her....I look over my shoulder at her and can tell that she's cute but we had fo sure pussy on the way and I didn't want to get jammed up talking to her when the other girls showed up so I said no thanks and told the messenger that allthough her friend was hot as well I was waiting on someone. She gets this goofy look on her face and just turns and walks away....just then my friend says do you know who that was...????? I said who? The chick you just turned down moron...I said no who was it....he said that was Winnona Ryder.... I said the hell it was...he said turn around and look.....I did just in time to see her leaving with an entourage of hotties and security guards.....I was kinda bummed for a few minutes but then the girls we were waiting on showed up and all was well. My buddy told the girl I was with and it totaly turned her on knowing that I turned Winnona down because I was waiting for her..... I hate this stereotype that NY'ers are rude and will randomly mug tourists for sport. Are parts of the city rough? Yes. So fucking what? Happens in every major city anywhere in the world. But, try having fucking planes fly into the middle of your city and see how the people respond. Regardless of whether or not you're a baseball fan, it's a great place.If you don't give a fuck about the stadium, go to the bar across the street from the right field wall. I work for the Texas Rangers so I get to see a LOT of games.I will do that.... we actually may take in a Mets game while we are there too.As for thinking NY is a rough place... there is NO way it is worse than Dallas...which I go to all the time. Every major city has it's rough areas.... if you go walking alone in Harlem after 11pm.... yea...your chances of getting mugged are higher than walking through Manhattan at noon.I'm looking forward to it..... hopefully our plan wont hit some geese and end up in the Hudson.
