Hans, boubie, I'm your white knight

holy shit, I can't stop listening to Run The Jewels 2

Bob Dylan.

Picked up 3 new albums today.1.

Never was much of a fan until I heard his solo album, "Some Devil", and then started listening to more of his stuff. Got the Live at Radio City with him and Tim Reynolds which is stellar the whole way through. This is my first DMB album. 2.
My first exposure to them was the Blacroc project. Thought that was pretty great. Haven't listened to much of this one yet, but I am looking forward to doing so, as I've heard good things about them.
These guys are always great together (imo), and the songs I've listened to so far have not disappointed.

Alright, I'm in. Somebody tell me what I should listen to first.
You should seed all those Beatles albums I gave you, that'll help your ratio. Also: Agree on Dave Matthews, he is really quite terrible. Not sure why so many people with otherwise good taste think DM is a good artist.

I just recently found out about Lastfm radio. I had a hard drive fail at work, and being able to stream tracks I've previously scrobbled (really like saying that word) has been clutch. Plus I got a kick out of this:2010-05-15_2159.png

There's (another) round of staff(ish) picks just up as of tonight. You should download a bunch of them even if you're uninterested in the music, because they are freeleech and will vastly help your ratio. Then in a month or 2 you can just delete them if it's not your kind of music.

it's funny, i sent it to one of my musically inclined friends and his feedback was alarmingly similar. idk, sometimes you feel like running everything through 40 db of gain, sometimes you don't.

Yeah, certainly don't hate them...but your record has more Dutch iPod spins than [Cross] does for certs. I mostly picked the name "Justice" because I love the way mention of it makes sphincters twitch on Gearsluts...I guess Justice is like My First Synth listening-type stuff, and encourages a shit-ton of "HOW DO I SOUND LIKE JUSTICE ZOMG!!!!11!!!"-style first threads.

haha! so true. i used to read gearslutz all the time but haven't been keeping up lately.did you ever read that thread where fleming rasmussen started posting all his notes from like...the master of puppets sessions? it was pretty insane. there are some serious bad fing dudes who post on that board. like, fing bruce swedien....i was always blown away by his posts about mj.i once sat and had a back and forth q and a with rob schnapf about elliott smith at like 3 in the morning. i should find that thread...

No, I didn't see that, but I have seen some unreal shit on there...one producer, whose tracks apparently received a fair bit of placement a couple years ago, made this post:aelkcj.jpgEdit: and that's incredibly awesome about Schnapf.

LOL that can't be real....it appears the content filter at my office blocks gearslutz because it probably thinks it's a porn site, but i'll find that thread when i get home. i think i was hammered and i'm pretty sure he was too, but i know i asked him how the hell elliott played the guitar parts on tomorrow tomorrow because that's probably my favorite song of his, and i could never figure out how to play even a semi-passable interpretation of whatever the hell he's doing. he said that that had always been one of his favorite songs too, and i think i started rubbing one out right there for obvious reasons.

The site is just down right now; I can't get on either. That thread certainly appeared (I saw it with my own eyes), and other posters who seemed to know what they were talking about and be part of the community seemed to accept the fact that he was who he said he was. I prefer not to question it, as it's one of the greatest OPs I've ever read on any forum. I need to start reading there again too...there are so many super nerds with so much bizarre information, and who are so willing to use it to humiliate the pompous teenagers who just stole their first copy of FL...there are so many different levels of entertainment.

I once heard a Sun Ra album that was decidedly NOT free jazz, and it was really really good. I have very little in the way of other clues. Any ideas?
Is this the album you're talking about? It's the first in a series of compilations that just came out last year, and look pretty awesome. I just randomly came across it, about to grab it and listen.Or you could be talking about a normal release of his from the same time period (mid 50s), which was his very earliest work.interplanetarymelodies.jpg
Doo wop era spaceways travel from Sun Ra and soulful mid 50s vocal recruits -- including The Cosmic Rays, Crystals, Nu Sounds and Juanita Rogers -- a motherlode of rarities and never before issued recordings! Interplanetary Melodies includes doo wop numbers of earthly concern, and space theme tunes, and it's jaw dropping that such top notch recordings were still deep down there in the vaults after the excellent earlier era Ra collections from the Atavistic and Evidence labels -- and Norton's efforts here are just as wonderful! The vocals are excellent, with some straighter songs, that could have been huge hits numbers with some sweetness and soaring qualities -- particularly the Cosmic Rays tunes, but others are more playful, spacey, with odder lyricism and rawer performances. Soulful harmonies or strange mannerisms, rollicking piano or eerie harmonium, it's fantastic stuff and essential early Sun Ra! Most tunes are culled from unreleased studio or home recordings from the vaults, plus a couple rare releases on Saturn and Pink Clouds, and titles include "Daddy's Gonna Tell You No Lie", "Bye Bye", "Somebody's In Love" (unissued home rehearsal) and more with Cosmic Rays, "Honey In The Bee Box" (unissued home rehearsal) with The Crystals, "Spaceship Lullaby" (unissued home rehearsal) and "I'm Through With You" (unissued home rehearsal) with Nu Sounds, "It's Christmas Time" by Qualities, "Teenager's Letter Of Promises" with Juanita Rogers and Lynn Hollings, "Tony's Wife" by Sun Ra and more.

I just got this too, there's some really cool songs on it.
Love it when Nas comes in for his first verse.

One of my favorite tracks. The breakdown at 3:03 reminds me a lot of the breakdown at 3:51 of this SOS song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ke0_Q-pwI4I prefer the latter, especially the instrumental part with the little flute line. So sick.

any paramore fans here?well, I hate you and your taste in musicbut more importantly, this is a link to a link of some paramore-related nudity
But...she's so hot, bro!I want to **** her, but only in the same way I imagine Francis Wolcott would. She's such a ****ing hayseed tramp. She strikes me as someone who once her idiot fanbase moves on and she is desperate for attention, she'll be on Dateline talking about how she never learned to read, and everyone else will be like, "oh she's so brave," and, "oh, how clever and street smart she is that she was able to fake it all those years without a formal education," and I'll just be thinking, "hahahah! Cunt! How the fuck did you never learn to read?" That's my greatest fantasy anyway. Also, what a titless freak. What man would ever want that? Only a ****ing pedophile or someone with some sort of weird fetish for women who aren't shaped like women at all would ever be interested in that ridiculous whore. I don't like her music.
