Move to California (especially San Francisco). They embrace pot and yet hate all people who smoke cigarettes. Go figure.Thats funny because i live in the bay area at the moment.I wasnt saying that i am against all cigarette smokers at any point though, i was just making a point of how weed is so widely rejected but cigarettes, a drug which in my opinion is much worse because of its addictive nature, is so widely accepted.

this is a good point. cigarettes are in general much worse for you than pot becuase of the amount of cigarettes people smoke on average. plus nicotine highs are short and stupid.

Liveactiononly, i could not agree with your first post more. Same with Cainbrain. I smoke everyday and almost always when i play. I think it helps me relax and not play so crazy. It is hard for me to not get antsy during a ten hour session without the weed. Glad that i can relate to somebody. I am usually happy and relaxed as well....tough to argue agains that right.jaba

Thanks, its always nice to know there are some people who feel the same way you do about something that is so massively despised. I got a lot of responses saying that i was in denial of my "addiction" but i can honestly say that when i wake up i choose to smoke...it doesnt choose me. Good luck and keep blazin that good chronic...i am tellin you, nor cal is the spot for the trees. haha, later guys

how can you make so many generalizations....what says a player cant play at the same level high if not better....i dont use drugs recreationally....its more of a constant....i smoke about as much as i play poker....and i would have to say thats a lot being that i play poker for a livingJust so you know that i am serious, I honestly do like being high and playing because it becomes much less difficult to stay calm in high pressure situations (ex. bluff)...and overall i have found that it just makes much less vulnerable to exposing tells or any player getting a decent read from my emotions. The only negative effects i have seen is that if i am playing 15-20 hour sessions i am not quite as sharp at remembering specific hands....but as far reads go i have no problem keeping those constant in my mind....dont look down on me because i do something the government rejects
How do you get the high to last for 15 to 20 hours ?

Interesting point but i will continue my argument:See, you like many others before you make the same grave mistake of attempting to escape to the word "addiction"....That is just another term for someone who uses an excess amount of anything that is not a commonplace in society....freaks who love to have sex...they get labeled sex "addicts"....I hme, i smoke marijuana every day and get labeled an "addict"...when in all actuallity i wake up every day and look at the world more objectively and more open minded than most, and i on most days feel like my day would be just a bit nicer if i was high....that is by no means an addiction....what if you were addicted to being happy....would being a happy "addict" be a bad thing. ave at no point in my life been addicted to anything....i look at the benefits of weed in my poker game as well as my life equally to that of the opposite side, being the disadvantages. I have found as i said before there to be numerous instances where it has dramatically helped me in remaining unreadable in my demeanor throughout long sessions. When i stated before that my short term memory may be slighty effective i truly did mean in the very slightest...i may once a week forget one big hand in which valuable information may have been gained...but with some seaching i can recall the events.....i honestly can tell you that i am the most objective thinker you will find....but i ask you whether you have tried playing high before?...i get the feeling you havent.....and this is not something i would say is narrowminded of you....so why then would it be so narrowminded of me to only play high and not try otherwise....i have explored both sides of the the argument thoroughly....and have simply found it to help my play and enrich my life....ive said my piece
From Merriam Webster's Medical Dictionary:persistent compulsive use of a substance known by the user to be physically, psychologically, or socially harmful Those damn happy people really harm society !

Actually for some people it helps in life as well as poker. I am gonna take a wild guess and say that you dont smoke, but have you atleast explored the benefits, i would have to gather no. But as myself and others have said it has helped us and we continue to reap the benefits.

I usually play high. I've been trying to quit though and I notice I get bored sober and turn to booze instead. Then I go nuts on a small stakes NL table (see previous post). I would say I've made 95% of my money high. It is emotionally addicting...there is no doubt about it. A good way to cut yourself off is to have your dealer spot you one and then never pay him back.
