It wouldnt surprise me though if he loaned it back to mike, from what i understand big game players typicall loan each other money when one of them gets short.

AlohaBruce 0
As stated in the previous reply, once you start playing you don't have any friends until you've finished playing. He could loan the money back to the Mouth.
Jennings7 0
Of course he would make the call. Why would he even get into a hand with a friend if he is just going to fold when he has the best of it?

Ryan_Sanders 0
There are no friends in poker.... I was playing a tournament at Hawaiin Gardens the other day with 3 of my buddies. I ended up knocking out one of them just out of the money. I felt no remorse, I actually enjoy busting them out more then people I don't know. Sick, but true.
DanielNegreanu 141
Well, since I'm not big on CHEATING I would bust him if I could. If I wasn't comfortable trying my best against ALL of my opponents I wouldn't sit at the table. After all, that would be flat out cheating! I'd bust him, and then stake him in some tournaments! dank773 0
I always feel like I've missed the boat if I post in a thread after DN. Anyway, Mike wouldn't feel bad about taking 100 G's of DN, so why should he care?I think a better question would be if you would take the last dollars of Jen Harman... steve7stud 0
It's actually an intersting topic. I'm going to take it into a little different direction because Daniel has already answered. After spending hour upon hours at the poker tables (live). You begin to develop friendships. It's inevetiable. Some of the friendships are quite signifigant. Going on trips with people, kids b-day parties, etc. So over time, I think things can get a bit more complex. Especially when you're bluffing someone, or taking advantage of a certain weakness in that session. The bottom line is, play your A game. And either expect, or tell your friends to play their A game. I hate when people soft play. Poker is a game of capitalizing on other peoples mistakes. If your friend is the one making the mistakes, that is his fault and not yours. You can tell him later what you thought he was doing wrong if you want. But when you are at the table, you are there to win. Period. If you're not, find another activity. I mean that in a good way. You must have the desire to succeed and win at all times, regardless of who your opponents are.I once played poker with my dad in a casino. It just so happens that we were playing pots heads up together. We'd never talked about it before, but we played each other just like anyone else at the table. I eventually went on to bust him. I genuinley felt bad, but ironically, he was the one betting into me when I had the nuts. My poker insticts took over, and I did what I did. Several months later, I offered to stake him in a game at the Bellagio just for fun. That was my way of trying to be a good son.Figure out a way to make it work for you. But winning is a habit, unfortunately, so is losing.Good Luck.
DDiabolical 0
Would you tell your friend if you found a tell on him?If it was a friend I knew before poker, no doubt I would, but a "friend" I met playing poker, I wouldn't.
insano 0
mike matasow doesnt play in the big game and he would never risk his whole bankroll on one nightThis is where your question goes bust. MM is famous for losing his entire bankroll in exactly that; one night.Edit: The "old" MM I should say. The "new" MM appears to have more control.
theone 0
If youre not playing to win every hand, you probably need to pick another hobby. I am constantly playing at tables with my brothers and Dad even and there is very little soft play let alone laying hands down. Sometimes it is very difficult to trap your Dad. I have mixed emotions about playing with people I care about. I feel that I am much better than they are and feel like Im taking advantage of them even the idea of playing was theirs. Anyways theres my lil rant...
