krup24 0
I am impressed that you are smart enough to go to law school but too stupid to control your own actions? :shock:I'm not surprised that you're too fucking stupid to realize that IQ doesn't matter.Amen. My one friend was studying neuroscience got hooked on heroin now lives in a halfway house. Actions do no equal addictions. Well said Custom.
goose 0
Yeah I agree, you've got a problem if you have to call them and ask them to freeze your account. My courseload is really heavy right now so I won't be playing for a while - I cashed everything out, and haven't thought once about putting it back in until I can afford the time.Stop playing, get some gambling help. I've never heard those before. (sw) Actually, those are usually the last resort of a child that has no way to backup his statement.Unforutnately, I've seen stupid, ignorant morons flame people with problems before. Why not just admit you're an idiot, and move on?lmfao. classic. You still didn't answer my question and I don't have time to play kid.

I do have all of the compulsive gambling tendencies. It started out as entertainment, but has turned into something crazy. If I win, I just play in bigger games until I lose. Sad. (But this still doesn't explain how I got hairy palms.)
three2 0
What's the difference between a "pro" and an "addict"? Do pros just win more? Can any of you really leave the game at the casino, or on the computer? I guess I'm considered an addict because I can't stop thinking about playing, and I generally lose in the end. SDLAW 0
I have the same problem as you. I have a graded midterm tomorrow for civ. pro. and cannot stop either playing or talking about poker here. So, I think you encouraged me to go and ban myself from PP forever. The site sucks anyway, since you get more bad beats and improbable draws than anyplace else.Which law school do you go to? Sam A.
three2 0
I'm a 2L at BYU (I know...Utah jokes.) Do you go to USD? Too expensive for me. Buy a Glannon's for CivPro. I'm sure you've heard that. I also used the Law in a Flash flashcards.
three2 0
I didn't intend the "too expensive" to be a knock. I would live in San Diego if I could. But, then I'd get addicted to Fashion Square (?) or something else.
SDLAW 0
I know, my first year loans are exceeding $100,000 but hey what can you do? I enjoy the scenary here though, so i guess it's worth it.I'm studying from Emanuels crunch time. It's pretty good, with flow charts and exam tips. The exam is just 30 percent of the final grade. But anyway, you're lucky you're done with your first year. And yeah, fasion square is nice. I live like 2 minutes from it so it's kind of hard to stay away. It is also another thing contributing to the dissipation of my student loans.
Gallo 1
I thought by setting the table with my intro story, you would see I mistakenly must have checked the "ban my compulsive butt for life" box, as opposed to the "slap me on the wrist for six months box."As for controlling my play...I play 10/20 or 15/30. I'm the annoying guy that buys in for $200, chases, and then leaves with a thousand dollars or loses it all in two hands. Anything other than that, and I get bored. This doesn't help for positive variance.I hate players like you more than I hate minimum raisers.
goose 0
three2, I'm glad you recognize you have a problem, I'd seriously considering calling a hotline and speaking with someone. It's not something you can say "okay I realize I have a problem and because I realize it it's over"... I live in Niagara Falls area (the main casino area in Canada), and I've seen students blow their entire university career on blackjack and poker.Really, talk to someone, it's incredibly difficult to figure it out on your own. erac22 0
I have a problem far worse than a gamblind addiction. Right now, I have two papers, 2 problem sets, 2 midterms, and about 300 pages of reading to do before thursday. Since last wednesday i haven't played a single hand of poker. Far worse, I can't stop reading the FCP forums and posting. My forum addiction afflicts me like nothing i have ever experienced. I just can't help myself. Worst yet, there is no gamblers anonymous, AA, anything like that for forum addicts. Daniel, if you're reading this, What should I do?(sw) sorta
three2 0
Thanks for the advice. I'm not going to lie...I've read all the material on gambling addictions, but I have the classic "I can beat it myself" syndrome. It's sad. I should write a journal about how to wreck a career chasing a dream you can't get a grip on.

I used Emanuel Crunch Time for Civ Pro, and Con Law and even Torts. That was my cramming outline. Check out www.jd2b.com if you want some advice and humor. But, beware of the annoying Ivy-Leaguers. Oops.Don't even get me started on how many times i've checked my email since I sat down in this study room. I've also gone to the water fountain 8 times, bathrooom six, and refreshed the drudgereport 9 times. I've yet to write a word for myhistory paper. As a member of the glorious Tiger Inn once told me, "The only thing worse than my drinking problem is my not being able to do work problem." (apparently he had a 40 page JP due in 2 days that he hadn't started research for yet) But such is the life of a college student.
