I remember clearly the first time I played in a tourny with a $1,000 buy in. At my starting table were Hoyt Corkins, Paul " The Eskimo" Clark, and John Juanda. I learned a few things that day....1 - Hoyt is one hell of a nice guy...and ONE BAD MF at NL !2- I can't stand it when someone raises their button EVERY SINGLE TIME it's folded to them.3- I HATE being the only one at the table without sunglasses on.In my quest to improve and play at the highest level I can achieve, I vowed to incorporate those things into my game. Not sure I have gotten to the raw agression that John Juanda displayed toward my BB that day  ... but around Reno I am definetly known to raise the button !! :club: And I always wear sunglasses now.If you are lucky enough to make a TV table it would be in your best interest to do what makes you comfortable. If you have never worn sunglasses before ...that would be a poor time to start.Cheap sunglasses will make it harder to see in low light situations. A good pair ( I find ) actually makes it easier to see and cuts down on glare.Bottom line...sunglasses make it easier to see for me and make me feel more comfortable at the table. Others have different feelings. They are not wrong...they are just different from me. Thats what makes the world a great place.BTW...I always wear Revo sunglasses. Real glass...polarized lenses...light as a feather.

2- I can't stand it when someone raises their button EVERY SINGLE TIME it's folded to them. Moving all in a few times tends to curb that.Or sometimes get you to the buffett faster, but ussually it'll slow them down. Particualrly a Juanda.

I wear sunglasses when I play online. It really seems to step my game up, and hide all my "tells." All sarcasm aside, if sunglasses help, wear 'em. You should be unconcerned with the people on this forum calling you fish. Off the top of my head I can think of a LOT of great players that wear them at the table that nobody here would have the stones to call "fish." I don't personally wear them, but I don't take anyone to task that does.

sunglasses may create tells. As in tilt Eddie: if you're gonna wear sunglasses don't adjust them every time you catch an ace. Also if you take them off and slide them on sometimes that can be a tell. I think you create less tells when not wearing sunglasses

only new players really need or think they need glasses. If i was playing for a ton of money then I might consider them. I usually make fun of their glasses but there are a few players that know I can read them alot better without them on. Usually after a while players can improve and discard(except for the ones who you got so far into their heads they need them forever)

I like to wear a ski mask and the goggles to boot. I also use S.C.U.B.A. equipment to control my breathing. I use my large nose to push my chips into the pot so people can't see my hands shaking. I also had plastic surgery to shave down my adams apple (trannys do this as well, but for different reasons) so players can't see it move when a swallow nervously. Oh, and I play with my back to the table. Read that

Speaking of glasses, have any of you guys that have been over to the Rio for WSOP seen many pairs of Greg Raymer glasses being used? Did it die, or are there crazies trying to convince themselves that that's what won it for him and "I can do it too..."

I would recommend these. Despite the appearance, they are extremely lightweight, glass lenses, polarized, etc, etc. You won't even know you have them on after a couple of minutes.  http://www.zymetrical.com/product.asp?3=668
I reccomend these as well. I play $100/$200 outside on the beach in Miami in my thong and these work great. To all of you players who think sunglasses are bad, try these. I have averaged only losing 7BB/hr as opposed to 18BB/her without the glasses. GLASSES ARE A MUST FOR ANY SERIOUS POKER PLAYER!

Hey, thanks for everyone's opinion. Even though most took it as an opportunity to critisize, whatever makes ya feel better about yourself is cool with me. Sunglasses, or no sunglasses, there's no chance of me being confused for a fish. I mean the beach is right there too, it tends to be rather sunny.Jayson, does that happen to be AC in the backround? Prolly not, but if so, where do you play?Fluxor, I was thinking about those (black chrome/titanium iridium or the black/black). Maybe the half wire ones, also.

What tells do you give away by studying someone else's moves?
Well not neccessarily looking at somebody...but imagine this scenario:You have to decide if the pot odds a right to call or not. So you start to verify how much is in the pot. Depending on the board this can be a major tell about your own hand! With the glasses your opponent can't be sure if you calculate pot odds, stare him down ... or just fell asleep 8) TIME! I know of course there are several methods to avoid this without sunglasses - just wanted to show you one possibility. I need some input on this..........I'm thinking of getting some sunglasses for my upcoming poker excursion. The first thing I thought when I went on Oakley's website was "Damn, sunglasses are expensive", but the second thing was what kind of tint and all that sort of thing to get. If anyone knows anything about this, help out. I'm thinking I should order a pair that doesn't reflect (I dont even know if this would matter, do the angles match up that your cards would show?) and that you can't see my eyes. So if anyone knows what lenses would provide those two attributes, hook me up.
all i can say is that sunglasses don't do any thing for my online play, i still lose....... really i have a pair, i wear at some casinos that have poor lighting, they have yellow lenses. seems to work they pull in alot light and brighten up the table and cards. I think they are called shooters glasses.

I am immediately suspect of a players confidence when they are wearing sunglasses at a low to midlimt table. I also know alot of good players that wear them. But unless I know them from Adam, they are an immediate target when I wan to get tricky, because I think they lack confidence and try to protect themselves from having that sniffed out. I also think other players wear them to intimidate, I see how they look ultra serious trying to give off the vibe. I usually can't contain my laughter.

Ok, I should've been more clear I guess. Smash, I dont want them to try to try to play the role. Especially something like Raymer's, those things are lame. I can handle the frame part, something small and subtle. Just a little added insurance guys.
I wear those giant clown sunglasses, with a giant foam cowboy hat too. Good for table image. When i win a hand I have an air horn that i blow

A halloween mash shaped like a fish will do too. I put it on every time i'm in a hand

I don't wear sunglasses to the casino.Never have.My attitude has always been - if they can see something in my eyes that gives me away then they deserve to win, and I don't.

I don't buy into the anti-glasses argument that they make you look like a newbie. So does that mean if I'm not wearing glasses I look like a pro? But even if glasses make you think a player is inexperienced, and I wear glasses then this works to my benefit. I would prefer that players think I'm a newbie. I was playing in a tournament last night and on the first hand (I'm big blind) some guy actually tells me that my options are to raise or check.Oh are those my options?Everyone thinks they're an expert at this game. But from what I've seen in my few years of playing is that usually the person at the table speaking the loudest is almost always wrong about what he's saying.
