New Challenge: Movin' On Up

Recommended Posts

Also all you guys. The constant steam of bad beat posts in this thread is making it close to unreadable of late. You all complain about bad beats. How does looking at them again help you? How does taking the time out to find it, copy the hand history, convert it and post it so you can look at it even more help yourself?I don't know if any of you guys have ever meditated before, but the basic idea is to try and focus on one thing (usually breathing). Sometimes your mind wonders, That is fine you just acknowledge it , label what it is and get back on task. Eventually you can go longer periods without getting distracted. Your playing poker, thinking of ranges and stuff. You try for a bluff and it gets called by a crazy stupid hand. You acknowledge the frustration you are feeling and move back to ranges and stuff. Eventually the standard becomes water off a ducks back. If you thinking about how many times your aces have been cracked, What are you not thinking about? If you think you have everything covered, Perhaps if you sat at more tables and channeled that wasted mental energy you could be making even more money.
As others have said I think it is helpful to vent to somebody. It's like having a bad day in general. A lot of people like to tell their friend/significant other/family member how and why today sucked. I also think a lot of the bad beats happen just a few minutes before the post. I feel like there are a lot of times where I take a bad beat and think; "Heh, the challenge thread should find this funny." Then an hour later, I forget to go dig it up because I don't care anymore. I can't speak for everybody else, but when I post a bad beat it's not a "OMG FML I RUN SO BAD EVERYBODY LOOK AT MY HORRIBLE VARIANCE!!!". It's more like "Lol... check out this awesome line. limp/3-bet with KTo, then he calls min 4-bet. And on the Q9x flop open-shoves for 3x the pot and binks his J vs my QQ then I obv can't hit 10 outs, lawls!"Again, maybe this is just me. I deal with it by telling a friend about it and having a laugh. I think most of the posters here are smart enough not to really cling to that hand and just move on. No harm in having a laugh or a minor vent about it.

I remember when this thread was all about how bad KJ was at 3betting

He's probably not flatting KJ's raise otf if he had a2. Besides, A2 is such a small portion of his range here, we are never ever ever ever ever ever ever folding the turn. People are stupid, they do

So my question is what do we do on the turn? How much are we betting, and what cards are we checking on the river and which are we betting? Are we betting? I think leading the turn almost turns our hand face up. What else would we lead? I'd be content with check/calling a lot here. Then again, I'm a passive donk sometimes.

Is this part of the 20% strat or 75% brag?

Just a complete blah hand I'm sure I butchered a lot. I also get really passive against multiple opponents. Taking another look I think I should have raised the flop. Another situation where I think I always miss a ton of value. I always end up passive in these spots because my mind tells me there is no point in raising because he either has be beat(5x, AA, KK), we are choping, or I have the best hand and there is no way villain will give me any more money. So I puss out. Should I bet 3-betting the turn? @K9- iso raise larger... 3x +1bb for each limper... so .20. Post flop looks goot to me.@AK- I'm cbetting .25 and c/c river is fine bc we just called turn thinking he has a lot of bluffs, we must let him bluff. min-3betting turn can be fun when they spaz :club:@AJo- don't mind the 3b, especially if MP is a reg or you suspect he will iso light. Good amount of dead money and we have position. Cbet/size is goot imo. We have overs if called and we keep repping that big purrrr@AQ- Again I iso to .20 and yes I'm getting it in on that flop vs almost all villains@KQ- fine imo, hope he dies for SSing@AA- I don't mind it. I kinda like bet/folding the turn a bit more just bc I think we need to value bet thin in these games, but its never bad to slow down in a 3way pot after that flop action.

I'd call. I can see villian showing up with AK with a single spade, I can see AQ, even lots of trips. I think he bets small on the turn, knowing you will jam over if you have the flush, but because you didnt, he doesnt think you have a flush, so he's jamming the river. And I would cry the few times he does have the flush, but I dont think he has it this time.

So just had my best session monetarily in weeks. Feels quite good. Funnily, I finished down 2.5bi, but up ~$600 the way that it panned out. The session started by me glancing at the 5/10 tables and noticing a juicy one. I don't typically even scout tables (let alone that high), but just happened to this evening. Was one decent reg sitting with two super donks...so I sat and picked up .25bi in like 15 minutes before the table started to lose the juiciness. After that, played quite a bit of 1/2 and 2/4 HU and slowly punted 6bi at 50nl Rush. I actually do have an interesting hand or two that I might post when I get them imported.

I've gotten better at being able to get away from pots like this. When you get raised on a dry board, it's gonna be a set so much, so I don't mind a fold on the flop.I would def. make a note of his bet sizing though.
