search Pocket fives, neverwin poker and a bunch of other forums not attached to training sites.
neverwin doesn't exist anymore, at least as a forum. Micon and Druff packed up their bag and created Donkdown.com, and now neverwinpoker is.. i dunno, a blog for neverwin? at anyrate, it's been obliterated..but, for you ripptyde/jewdonk fans out there, tydepoker.com launched this week, the future of poker forums.

All kiddin aside. If this becomes neverwin i'm never coming back. I know I'm not a big poster here, but I like the site and community. I used to have to take a shower after visiting neverwin. And not a cold shower. A shower with bleach.

my fitted navy FCP hat is my standard go-to hat when i don't want to shower. it's really comfy on my goofy sized head.
****, id promoted the hell out of one of these. I have a "goofy sized head" as well. Flex-fit type caps are the only things I can wear.

regardless if this site is booming or not....It is easily.....by far....the easiest and most user friendly of all the forums out there. I cruise through 2+2 sometimes and I can't stand it. There is so much going on my screen it makes me just quit. It's so easy to navigate this site....it's one of the things that keeps me always coming back.

Bottom line is this. DN has to/is solely for PS at this point. FCP will never be the same, and we all need to understand that. He is not going to play his Neg O, nor is he going to put anything worthwhile to win at the end like it used to. Back in the day, he was trying to get people here to get the poker room moving. Once UIEGA hit, he was gone. So until/unless DN plays more in the Neg O, or starts posting in general more often, FCP will be lackluster and here for the people who have been for awhile. And hopefully someday, I can donk myself into a huge score, get some major dispensible income, and blow it all making FCP great again. until then, ball is in DN's court to make this and/or the Neg O relavent.

Well like I said, Neverwin has bit the dust, so you don't have to worry about any more shame showers.

This is mostly correct I think. This site is on the back-burner...and rightfully so. As far as business goes, the site really has no major purpose. Outside of VT, which might I say kudos to you all for the wise marketing decision of making VT relevant on FCP, but not shoveling it across every page front and middle. Too many people would have just shut down FCP altogether after the poker room was forced to close, etc. and/or just made FCP's domain name a direct link to VT.If anything, the fact that FCP has been kept intact and any sorts of contests, prizes, Neg-o tourneys is a gift of sorts from DN and Co. Because I really don't think it's doing anything for his personal benefit, outside of keeping this site semi-relevant and on the backburner, so if/when UIEGA is lifted and poker sites can be made, etc. FCP will have a leg up on the competition in already haven't a base following. In the end, it's up to the participants remaining to either bolster the place or take off.

In response to the original post... it was called the poker boom for a reason, the boom has fizzled away, and those remaining players are obviously going to gravitate towards each other. There isn't going to be the same amount of interest in poker in general, which means even less will be interested in poker forums. All forums could survive, but people are going to gravitate towards where the better players are, leaving little to none (us)for the other forums to survive on. This is Daniel's forum, but it's made by the players, if notable players aren't posting here, other players won't gravitate here.

As stated in previous posts, FCP (as well as poker in general) is obviously past it's glory days, but name another relevant/successful poker forum/community site other than here and 2+2?During the boom this place was like Christmas morning. Packed with excited newbs all wanting to get better, not knowing where to go, hoping to be the next big thing. Advice was good and easy back then because there were some very good players here sharing and most of the rest of us sucked. Plenty of drama, punk clic haters, flame wars and smart asses. Daniels generosity and participation was great, plus weekend at Daniels promotions, Protoge, etc. The sky was the limit and there were millions to be won. FCP poker room days were some of the best, really good times back then. That was what, 4+ years ago now? wow....Dwindling participation is simply due to the boom dying, the economy sucking, people leaving because they have gotten much better, got burned out, got older, got jobs, got kids, got broke, got a reality check, etc. and have moved on. The reality of turning pro and making millions has faded and many have found that this is in reality a horrific way to make a living, except for the very few. Steve 7 once told us that less than 5% of people that play for a living are positive at the end of the year. Didn't believe it then, and the number may be higher now because many have gotten so much better, but overall this is probably still correct. The poker boom reminded me of the Day Trading boom a while back. Easy money....just get good and ring the register baby! Lost of folks actually quit there jobs back then to trade and get rich. El oh El. Obv. it's not so easy. FCP had it's hey day and that's fine. God knows I've had dozens of love hate moments here and have quit so many times it's become a joke. But Poker ain't going anywhere and as long as it's around obv. this forum will be. places like 2+2 and FCP are good places for Daniel and the industry to harvest from a marketing perspective. Folks are interested and they are offering a product, so it's all good. yay capitalism. And hopefully interest and new players will continue to trickle in as the economy improves down the road and keep it all alive. Lots of used to be regulars may not visit as often as we once did, but it's hardly time to turn out the lights here just yet.

so truly spoken nutz, I was around back 5 years ago under another name folks needless to say people who always backed Daniel and who truly love the game of poker will stick it out here no matter what. Like Scott said they may not visit so often but they lurk around, and still visit.

what happened??
Well.. I could tell you the long story, but it's terrible and boring. The short story is 2 years ago micon was broke, and solid controlling interest in NWP to Tony G and poker news.. who bought it solely for the google hits or w/e. Soon, however, Tony G et all realized, with horror, what it was exactly they'd bought, and stopped giving any sort of support to the forums, even the most basic sort of moderation things, like people not being able to post or sign up and what not. Druff and Micon got tried of the situation ,and have branched off on their own (which I'm sure is going to fail terribly).. they were allowed by Tony G to take everything from the forums, the archived radio shows, all of the "nwp intellectual property" and have kept the domain name, the affiliate money, and apparently have turned it into a blog for dustin wolf. The former NWP posting community has basically scatter to the wind, posting on 3 sites, donkdown ( druff and micon), Tydepoker ( Jewdonk/ripptyde's new site) and borispoker ( a site that was started by disgruntled core nwp posters a few years ago), as well as Exodus-ing to pocket fives, 2+2 and parts unknown. People may argue on the merits of NWP and what it meant to the online poker world, but there was a time when it was pretty much the premier poker gossip sight, the irreverent "bad boy" of poker forums. But that time is gone. If you think FCP is dead and depressing, check out donkdown.com.
