I would guess there is a 74% chance that you speak like this in real life.
It makes him a real tough guy during the Magic Gamers Convention booth set up competitions.

I'd like to think you were wrong, but I fear you are right. I hope it's a lower percentage though. But would you say the vast majority of the people that are still 'slightly' racist are of either political persuassion, or pretty fairly distributed between all political spectrums?
Oh, without a doubt. Jews, as a rule, are democrats, and all the old jews, and old people in general I deal with here in SoFL would never go black. They say they aren't racist, but they just don't know any better. It doesn't hold to party lines, it's more of an age/location thing

maybe it's SoFL specific, and isolated to their particular line of work?

The reality is that McCain and Obama are both doing this election right. Conservatives have to be convinced to vote Republican and the best way to do so is to rant and rave about the damage that the Democrats are going to do. At this point, all the Republicans have to do is throw out a little push in a VP pick like Palin to convince the conservatives to go out and vote for them. Conservative voters will, also, not vote for Obama even if they decide not to vote for McCain. So attempting to shore up the base is just like free-rolling the turn and river. The Palin pick can't hurt him because the only people who have beef with the pick are those who weren't going to vote for him anyway.Democrats are already so disgusted by the last 8 years of Bush that they will vote for ANYTHING as long as it's labeled correctly (not Bush/Republican). That is why Obama is able to rush SOOOOOO hard to the middle. They know that any excuse their campaign makes up for his "conservative-leaning" comments will be eaten up by the hardcore left.Yes, America, as a whole, is more right of center by the world's standard, but that's only based off of the people who actually vote. It is impossible for the Democrats to count on their target base to be reliable voters which is why they have trouble winning. It isn't that we're necessarily more conservative as a country, voter turnout just isn't equal by a long shot. And that is why, time after time, democratic campaigns rush to the middle to try to win over reliable "independent" voters (which is a bs term because most people know whether they are left or right leaning on issues that matter to them).

Obama should make every supporter seem as if they are part of the campaign. BHO's electability is highly dependant on voter turnout in key battleground states. As long as there are no surprises in the states that he can count on, then Obama needs to focus on getting every voter to the polls on election day. McCain just needs to NOT **** up. He also helps his campaign by consistently bashing the other side. Reality is that he's not going to convert any new Republicans and there's no point in rushing to the center. He just needs to convince the "independents" that electing Obama into the White House will be a disaster to this country and his base will take care of getting him the votes he needs.

Although you left your sentance with a dangling participle, and it also made little sense. But at least you refrained from any hitler(capital H for Hitler LOL) reference and any more racist undertones, so I feel we are making progress.

I would agree with you to a point, but I think you try to make a case that the larger majority of Americans are left / Democrat thinkers, just some of them are lazy and the Republicans, although the minority, are just more likely to vote. That creates a basis for this foolish belief that the dems are 'more' inline with America, which is total BS in my opinion. Most people live their lifes in a manner that is conservative: believe that a guy that doesn't want to work or contribute, shouldn't get a free house, food and money to buy booze with. That people that do stupid things, deserve what they get sometimes, and that for the most part, the harder you work, the more you should get for it.That's a way of thining much more in line with conservatives than with liberals. The truth is the left viewpoint is one that views people as needing the government to help them, because they are too poor, dumb, lazy to help themselves. And that people that work for decades, and become rich because of it, are just lucky and don't deserve their money.Without the class warfare, the left in America would be stuck with the campaign slogan: "We care more than them"

I agree with the sentiment that hard work should be rewarded, and welfare should be monitored meticulously to stop people fleecing the state, and ultimately the taxpayer. But health care should be available to all, even those who can't afford it.Just like education should be and is.Or is this me being a socialist?

Well, it's obviously something that would never be able to be quantified because most people won't be honest out in the open, in front of strangers, but if I had to take a guess, I'd throw out 10%, maybe a tad under.
I think thats a pretty reasonable guess, however I would say that isnt as much a racism "problem" as it is emblematic of great progress in the last 40 years. I think you would be hard pressed to find any group that doesnt have 10% biased against other groups. Certainly at least 10% of men are biased against women, 10% of Christians of any denomination biased against other denominations, 10% of Hispanics biased against non-Hispanics, 10% of music lovers biased against Radiohead (had to throw that in for LLY).You will never entirely remove people being prejudiced against people that are different. What is important is whether and how they act on those prejudices.Note that if 10% anti-black is correct, and just 25% of those are voting Democrats (I dont really think the difference in parties is that great, but assume it is), and just 1/2 of them wont vote for BHO, youve got 1.25% loss of votes for BHO based on prejudice. If half of them sit out and half of them switch sides, you have nearly a net 2% swing in the votes. That is HUGE in an election that looks to be extremely close.

Yes, its you being socialist. There is no reason that health care should be available to all, although it almost universally is in the US. Even if it should be available to all, that doesnt mean that anyone should be forced to pay for someone else. Charities do quite well at caring for the indigent.Education on the other hand benefits society as a whole, and therefore the government should be involved in education, and non-users should bear some financial responsibility for others' education. They benefit from it, and should not be able to free ride on those benefits.

We know what you meant. You want black babies to be aborted because they are just going to become criminals anyway. It is totally is in line with the rest of your posts, so there is no reason to feel the need to explain it.Tell me though...Does bleach ruin your white hood or do you dry clean? I want to be able to give laundry tips to the French for their national flag.
Hmm I never saw him say in his post POOR BLACK COMMUNITIES. Where did you see it? Just wondering who's more racist - someone who suggests that people in poor communities tend to not be as educated or someone who suggests the only poor communities are black?

You make it sound like the NHS is all roses and honey.. lol! Why don't you tell the nice ladies and gentlemen about the 2 year waiting lists and rising costs... and the extremely low standards of hygeine and efficiency?? Or would that ruin your point, too much?Or how about trying to get a dentist on the NHS... good luck with that.

WOW! Ok, lets say hypothetically speaking, someone loses their job after slaving away for 20 years in a low paid job without a pension and pays tax. They can't find employment due to a tough economic climate and unfortunately contracts cancer. Are you seriously suggesting that person shouldn't be given a high level of treatment or any at all? Should people who can't afford insurance be left to rot in the streets, or receive a seriously low standard of care in insufficiently funded second grade hospitals? I hate pointless social welfare programs which essentially burdens the tax payer, but fundamental health care is something I would never have a problem contributing to.

Where did I say that? Of course there are problems with the NHS, but where would you rather be if you had a serious illness? Unless you have decent insurance plan I already know the answer.

Sadly Wiz this is EXACTLY what they're saying. They'll give someone in that position all the sympathy in the world but hang on tight to their wallets.

Yes I do, thank you very much.If I didn't, I wouldn't be overly happy at relying on the NHS. And anyway, if you think it's free.. you're joking. We've had massive tax bills rises over the last 15 years in the UK, to fund it.

I never said it was free, or if I did I meant available.BTW I despise the Labour government, and Stalin Brown must be voted out at the next election. But this topic has nothing to do with the thread really, and it detracts from the overall debate, so please stick to the main issue.

Yeah, I guess that did kind of come out bad. I guess I should rephrase. The size of the left/Democratic voting population, imo, is relatively unknown. The Republican voting block COULD be larger, but the members they do have are reliable voters.
That creates a basis for this foolish belief that the dems are 'more' inline with America, which is total BS in my opinion.
I can agree with that. I don't think anyone can know which side is 'more' inline with America. All we can do is base it off of voter decisions. Which, at the same time, is shaky in itself because of voter turnout.
Now that, I tend to disagree with. You speak of those things being more conservative ideas yet I think that's stretching it. I don't think that liberals want to give handouts to lazy people, keep the law-breakers unpunished, or keep the rewards of hard work from the people who deserve it. You may think that the results of their programs end up that way, but then we're just arguing perception. A liberal would say that the benefit of the government program outweighs the bad result of the minority of lazy people that work the system. A liberal would say that the punishment without a purpose is more harmful and that focusing on rehabilitation is more benefitial to the country. A liberal would say that the rate of taxation pays for the myriad of government programs that are "morally necessary" in their point of view.Liberals and conservatives both work this same system the same way. They get out of bed, get ready for work, roll with the punches, earn their own means, etc. That's why, at the end of every election, you always hear the phrase "Country over partisanship"
The truth is the left viewpoint is one that views people as needing the government to help them, because they are too poor, dumb, lazy to help themselves. And that people that work for decades, and become rich because of it, are just lucky and don't deserve their money.Without the class warfare, the left in America would be stuck with the campaign slogan: "We care more than them"
Eh, I think my main disagreements aren't that you're wrong about the results of some liberal policies. I just don't think you care to look at what liberals are saying from their own perspective. You, specifically, only take the bad results of their policies and then you make the claim that "This is all that liberals want!"I think it would also be interesting to hear a conservative admit the good that comes from certain programs. Won't be me, though ;)Ty for responding, good points.

Or any average illness for that matter. At my age, I'd love Britain's system.Everyone hearing me go on and on about healthcare, don't worry... as soon as I'm older and in better standings, I'm sure I'll stop caring :ts:club:
