Pot Odds RAC 23
This sort of came up in another topic and is likely to be a bit controversial. While in most Right to Carry States you cannot carry a concealed weapon in places like Casinos or Bars, you can get a permit to carry in many other circumstances. I think the first rule is "avoidance". Simply don't carry cash or play in games where you feel unsafe. However just feeling safe vs. unsafe isn't the issue - if you choose to exercise your right to carry, what other factors influence your decisions and actions?I am not talkig about growing "Lead Balls" to make yourself feel tougher or encourage getting into altercations. If I host a game or other event where there is alcohol - I'd like to know who is carrying in my home. I think it is a courtesy to inform a home owner if you are bringing a gun into their home. If the homeowner objects - then you can refuse the invite or leave your weapon in some other safe place while in the house. What do you think about Carrying during play? rdtedm 0
IMO, if the money is that important (or that much) that you need to carry or pull a gun on someone when something happens, find somewhere else to play poker that's regulated. Bringing a gun to a poker game is just shady, and I think it would make everyone there feel uneasy. If you're playing nosebleed stakes at some underground casino, sure, bring a gun. But I'm not going to bring one to a $1/$2 NL game with the intent on letting it help me get my way.
Pot Odds RAC 23
QFT...... Man "pot odds" you have some serious issues....Not at all.I am a responsible gun owner - there are a lot of us here in the States. The SCotUS just confirmed our Individual rights to own guns. I have a Permit to Legally carry a concealed weapon. As do many millions of others in this country. Assuming we are going to exercise those rights I thought it would be interesting to discuss some rules of Etiquette regarding Home Games. If you're anti-gun, fine. I'm not. They exercise that right as much as possible. Why would a Home Game be any different than heading out to the store or taking the dog for a walk? When I carried more often, I didn't go that far, but I did carry more often than not.

I know people that carry (my stepdad's cousin, for example) and it's fine when we're just sitting at someones house or if theyre going to the store. But if I see someone with a gun at a midstakes cash game with a bunch of teenagers and other people that would be easy to rob, well, it's frightening.
El Guapo 8
Ummmm. Why would you need to carry a gun to a home game?If I were running a game and someone decided to bring there new gun to show off. Cool. If I found that a friend of mine sat strapped at my game because they were afraid of something popping off, I would call them a psychiatrist.

I aggry to a certain extent that you could keep a gun in your house for safety, if that's ur thing and all, but bringing a gun to a "friendly" poker game is just plain stupid...... I'd think there would be more of a reason to carry when there is $ involved rather than just hanging out.And carrying a gun isn't "showing off" or bragging - for many it is just as natural as carrying a wallet or cell phone. And, yet, Canada has so much less gun violence than we do.
