Good read. Definitely some great sections. Harman does a great job writing the limit section. Doyle does a great job promoting his poker room. I really enjoyed the NL tourneys section. I know I am too conserbative in my tournament play, I hope this added knowledge will help me become more aggressive.

I own both Super Systems. I like #2 a lot but I have to wonder, has Doyle learned anything new in the past 20 years in No Limit? I know he is the man, but I'm always learning new stuff and honestly I don't think I'll ever reach a point where my learning curve stops. I also think the 7 Stud section by Chip Reese in the original SS should have been included in #2. Other than those two things, great book. Caro's section is quite good, IMO.

The O/8 section of this book is the most useful discussion I've found, of not just starting hands but also how to play hands under different scenarios.I also found the limit holdem section to be well written. Hate to admit it but the only section I haven't read yet is triple draw lowball. The game just doesn't get that much play online.

Personally I found myself constantly being reminded that Doyle is the super best champion of the world, the whole online poker bit is just blatant advertisement for Doylesroom. When you look past all of that it is a good book no doubt and an impressive fat bird to have on your shelf if not only to raise the question "DID YOU READ ALL THAT?!".

I've just read Jennifer Harman's SS2 chapter on limit hold'em and it's very strong. I'm going to give it another look with a highlighter at the ready, after some sleep, and then I'll see if there's some noticeable difference in my limit game.

To be honest I think you'd be better off reading Small Stakes Holdem or Winning in Tough Holdem Games than rereading this section.

fully agree, you will get more out of it than you will out of Jenn's sectionJenn's section is more geared towards high stakes games

i got started with o8 because of ss2. it's now become one of my best games and have finally realized that it's the easiest to start your online bankroll grind on.if you have $50 and you need to micro grind your bankroll into a reasonable size to start playing the higher levels, then if you have ss2... read the o8 section and you'll be plenty good for micro.if you're looking to go out and buy a book on o8, go find something specific to that form of poker itself.in all honesty, i've been doing great and have really developed good strategy for the game on ss2, internet advice/discussion, and experience.i find ss2 to be a great... almost... dictionary for different poker games. if you find yourself wanting to break into a game, read the equivalent section in ss2 to get you started on the right strategy. i was just disappointed that there wasn't a razz section

I found the book very informative and I have read it and re-read it plenty of times. I would pick a section and then focus on that until I improved my game immensely and then I'd do the same with the other sections.

I don't know, super system 2 was a let down. I was SO let down that Doyle didn't update the NL section. I mean, that's pretty much the only game I play, so it killed me that he didn't up date it. But I guess, it was hard for anything to live up to SS 1. My brother got it for me for my 16th birthday, and it changed my life! I pwned all my friends at our poker games after reading it. So SS2 was a let down, a big one.

I actually reread Jen's LHE chapter on the flight to Vegas after taking a long hiatus from poker. I had read it before and committed most of it to memory, however if any of you can relate I sometimes have a hard time making decisions I know I should make at the table. I know what I should do, but I get stubborn or stupid and do something else. I figured that with my long break from poker, and the fact that I was more in Vegas to party then gamble, I would be more patient and really try to apply the principles and the basics that I learned originally from this chapter. I got to the casino and bought in at some 2/4 and was surprised how well I faired. The games were pretty soft, especially the first session I played with a lot of drunks and idiots at the table. The last session I played, however, was an all-nighter on my last night there and I actually ran into some good players towards the end of the night/morning once all the drunkies went to bed. I probably had the most fun I've had in a while at the table playing against these guys 5 handed at 6am. It was fun taking money off the bad players, but by the end of the night we all had pretty good sized stacks and had a lot of wiggle room to really play some pretty good LHE. It was a big confidence boost for my LHE game, which I'm most experienced in, overall, but not live.Nutshell- Jen's chapter did me good, and I still have a ridiculous crush on her

I don't think Harmon's section will do much good for beating a 2/4 game.
The biggest thing I needed was patience, which probably came from me taking an extended break from the game.Regardless, the brush up didn't hurt after that long away from the table. I wound up paying for my travel expenses with the two sessions that I played, which was fine by me, as it left more money to spend drinking.I was going to be more of a dick in this post, since you came off as one in yours, but I don't really feel like it. You're probably a better poker player than I am, which I never claim to be, however I still have no idea who in the blue hell you are.

I'm sorry you were offended. It was unintentional.I don't mean to imply anything except the literal meaning of that sentence. Harmon suggests betting and raising a lot to make people fold. In the live 2/4 games I've played, that isn't going to work.

I really didn't find this book so good as the chapters are poorly written and the whole book itself has a discordant feel to it. This is to be expected as the book is written by different authors with different writing styles, but at the very least, more editorial effort should have been exerted to make it one seamless read.Super System 2 suffers in comparison with the original Super System. So if you really want a good poker book, just buy the original one.
