Does Anyone Else Find This Odd?

Recommended Posts

A few months ago I moved from Los Angeles to Amarillo Tx, and since then havent played live. I used to frequent the Bike as well as the Commerce with a trip to Vegas every couple months. What Im saying is Ive spent my share of time in a B&M. Last night I was with a friend and we sided to drive out to the Lucky Star Casino in Concho, Oklahoma. One thing that I thouht was extremely odd right of the bat was that I never saw a single billboard for the casino in the entire 200 mile drive. If it were not for looking up info on thier website we would of never found it. Anywho after walking in the front door we see the poker room to our right. We walk in and see that there are only three tables running but they have about 15 tables total. I look at the board to see that the three games running were a 3/6 limit, 1/2 NL, and a 5/10 pot limit ohmaha. I only brought about 400 with me so I was either going to play the 3/6 or the 1/2 NL. The NL table was full and the limit table had a couple seats open. So we decided to sit at the limit table until the NL table opened up. I sat down in seat 6 and my friend at seat 8. In seat one I notice there is a middle aged man in a shirt and tie with a employee badge and I see that his title is Poker Room Night Manager. Which really just struck me as odd, why would the floorman be playing? Ive never seen that. But since this is small room I didnt think too much of it. The first few hands I see and fold and see that the action seems to be normal for a 3/6 donk game. Then this hand came up. I had poket Ks in the small blind. The pot had already been raised once when it got to me so I popped it up to 9 to go, everyone called, of course. The flop came out Ac 10H 9c. I wasnt exactly happy seeing the Ace but I bet it any way. A couple guys folded out, the floor man calls and teh button calls. The turn was 2h and I bet it again, floor calls, button folds. So Im pretty sure at this point floorman has an Ace and that Ive been stubborn and not let my Kings go when they are obviously beat. The river is a 8c so now Im more sure than ever that Im beat so I check, floorman bets, I call because Im a donky. But this is where Im a little shocked the floor shows pocket 8s and he tripped up on the river. I have no clue how he could of heald on to two 8s and think theyre good. Anywho I take my loss and shake it off. The floor man leaves to take of something and game goes on as usual for abotu 30-45 minutes. I took down a couple pots but nothing major. The floorman always comes by to check his hand and for the most part folded. But whenever he played a hand he won it. And it was always a good size pot. So I just figured the guy knows what the hell he is doing and I didnt get involved unless I had somehting. Then a new dealer came on to the table and it was a olderman and as soon as he sat down the floor came back. Thats when I started getting suspicous(sp). The floor man got hot and when I say hot I mean Jamie Gold at the ME hot. I saw him take down pots with a straight flush, three quads, and a royal flush all with in a hour. This man raped everyones stack except mine because I absolutely refused to get into a pot with him. Then the dealer left and then normal poker resumed. So after a while I have built my chips up and Im about a 100 bucks up. Then that same dealer came back which Im alreay quite suspicous of and the very first hand he deals the floor man had to get up because some drunk retard is yelling at the 1/2NL game. The floor man is on the big blind and he never had a chance to see his cards. When the action got to him instead of alerting him the dealer picks up his cards and said "Oh we will raise this hand I gauretee" and put out the extra chips. That was the breaking point for me. I stood up got a couple racks and left and my friend followed suit. That was beyond fishy that was breaking rules and I refused to put another chip in play.Am I being an alarmist here or is this just wrong?

Did you remember to bring your tinfoil hat so they couldn't read your thoughts? That might be it.

If you feel you are being cheated you would be stupid to stay and not to leave. The thing about cheating-conspiracy-theories in poker is, that they aren't that far-fetched...That said, I've seen much worse than the 88 hand in live 3/6 games, the guy might just be a donk who got lucky. But it is odd that the floorman is playing at all, I don't think I'd be comfortable in tht scenario, especially when he is winning.

Hand shuffuled. And I knew I was going to be flamed a bit for this, but it was just too wierd for me not to say anything
Please, that isn't even remotely flaming.. was just poking fun. *someone* has to bring up the tinfoil hats in a conspiracy topic...That said, if it is indeed hand dealt and everything seems that suspicious, I'd pack up my stuff and take off too.. If it walks like a duck, and talks like a duck...

That's throwing up all sorts of red flag in my books. Dealer raising for him? Thats not only against every poker room's rules I've ever played in but also blatantly obvious.Could you catch him dealing from the bottom at all?Wish I had the skill to shuffle a deck like that.

At that point I would have made a scene instead of just leaving.

This might have been a very bad place to make a scene.

I would tell them a what a joke of an operation they were running and speak to someone higher up about it. If it went south from there then I guess I'd be running for the car.

I've played with card room managers in plenty of ring games. That's really not odd for small cardrooms. But anytime you don't think its all on the up and up, leave.

This is what I was thinking. This place is a good 10 miles off the interstate and I just decided to leave and find out what gaming comisssion they fall under and try to go through the appropirate channels. Though I had a winning session and it was an indian casino I dont know how well that will go. I just know I will never go there again and will warn anyone I know not to go there.

Call the state gaming board or whoever oversees that casino and inform them of what happened.Give them the exact time of when the hand that the dealer raised happened so they can ask to see the security video.

wow, i am really glad i never play there. it's an extra hour or so but if you are looking for a nice poker room with a lot of tables running try riverwind casino in norman, or firelake grand in shawnee. those are usually packed...and safe.i think they don't have billboard advertisements (for the most part, i see a few when i come from the other direction) because their stupid effing commercials are on once every five minutes on espn here.

That's really weird, from what I understand all the Indian casinos have a rule of casino personel not being able to play where they work. But really, if you want a good room go to Riverwind or Firelake like the previous guy said.

I just turned 19 and so haven't had a chance to go to any casinos but that does not sound normal whatsoever. I don't think it's a conspiracy theory. I think they are insulting your intelligence and cheating blatantly obvious. I'd report that casino. I wouldn't of started a scene there because I like to live and if they are cheating there, then they could easily beat you up for saying anything seeing how you're only 2 guys and they prolly have a lot of guys in who know about it and split the $. You should def report this to a higher authority who can do something about it and they should have their license taken away. A dealer raising for a player? i mean. comon, whatajokeaments.
