How Do I React To This?

Recommended Posts

Tonight I was playing 1/2 PLO at Cash Casino (in Calgary) and the following situation came up. I was OTB and the dealer dealt out my first 2 cards, and on the third, he dealt it to me face up by accident. The rest of the players all got their 4 and I told the dealer that he exposed my card, and that I didn't even get the 4th card. He waits until action gets to me and just grabs my 3 cards and mucks them. I say "WTF why isn't this a re-deal?" and he doesn't answer me. What's worse, is that the floorman is watching our table, chatting it up with one of the players. I ask him "Did you see what just happened?" and one person vouched for me at the table. The floor just acted like nothing happened, looked at the dealer and basically just shrugged. I half-jokingly asked for a comp (knowing full well I wouldn't get it, but didn't hurt to try), and he smiled and drifted away from the table. I didn't want to disrupt play as while this happened, a nice pot was brewing but should I have made a scene/demanded a re-deal...what's the right play here? I am not too sure of the standard way to act in this situation.

I'd stop tipping until I got an apology and a promise to do better in the future.

LOL...such a horrific situation. You should hold onto your 3 cards, or somehow put a chip protector on them. When action has started you have already lost your chance to speak out. You must speak out IMMEDIATELY so that you can get your remaining 2 cards. The dealer is absolutely retarded for not giving you another card and on top of that he didn't replace the exposed card. He should probably just be shot, I can't stand horrible dealers and even less competent floormen.

I would demand an apology and a comped drink then and there, and if they refuse you walk out (but stop on the way out and tell management how unprofessional the dealer/floor were).

You have the right to send the floor manager to look at the videotapes. If you are correct they should send the dealer away and redeal the hand. Because an employee may never interfere with the course of the game.

Let's take a different view. Clearly the dealer screwed up, and the floor as well. However, getting fired up and tilting is gonna cause you to spew chips like crazy. When you got misdealt you should have made it clear then. Waiting until the action begins to make a stink is too late. As played, I would pretend I was dealt rags and move on.

Deerfoot is too far from my place and Elbow only spreads limit games. Elbow definitely has the nicest cardroom in Calgary though. The games at Cash are definitely beatable.
