They just built a beautiful brand new poker room with about 20 tables and flat panel TV's around the entire room...usually pretty decent action depending on what you want to play. Tiltinagain 973 Posted May 31, 2007 Share Posted May 31, 2007 Again, depending on where you are exactly there is a poker room called Dueces Wild in Auburn (about 30 minutes or so up I-80 East towards Reno) that isn't real big (6 or 8 tables) but they have a very friendly staff (floor and dealers) and a very beatable 1/2 NL game with a $50 - $200 buy in. They also have a $500 max and, on weekends/some week nights a $1000 game. Not sure if they get limit games going or not. They also run good daily tourneys if that's your thing.First visit there I was only able to play for about 4 hours and left +$500, second time +$250. I can't stand that place. The dealers are a bunch of Pai Gow degens and I don't trust that place one bit. Even the 'no bust/joker' blackjack game is a joke there...they must make money hand over fist. If you can't make it to Jackson Rancheria or Cache Creek then I would strongly recommend you stay away from the Lucky Derby....The Phoenix has a comfortable room with friendy dealers, a full bar and good food. Whats the point of playing live if you dont get to feel real cards and play with real chips...that idea always seemed ridiculous to me and still does. The Limelight is a popular bar on weeknights so the game is pretty soft as far as limit can get.But, as already stated if you are looking for NL, then the Indian Casino's (Cache Creek or Jackson Rancheria) are your best bet... If you don't mind the drive, Cache creek is probably the easiest NL game in the area.I hate the derby- too crowed, have to wait forever, but the have a decent amount of NL games going all thetime.
