Poker In Or Around Sacto, Calif.

Recommended Posts

about 30-40 mins. away there is an Indian casino called Cache Creek. They just built a beautiful brand new poker room with about 20 tables and flat panel TV's around the entire room...usually pretty decent action depending on what you want to play. Maybe try mapquesting it to see if it's do-able. Hope this helps

unless you go to Jackson Rancheria or Cache Creek...the ONLY no-limit game in town is a 2/2 NL game at 'The Phoenix Casino' on Auburn Blvd. The rest of the card rooms in Sacto are all limit only cash games...with an assortment of mid level buy in tourneys nightly.

That is completley false. There is the Lucky Derby card room in Citrus Heights, they have limit and no limit. The no limit is a little weird their 2-5 game is a max 200 buy in and there 5-10 is a max $500 buy in.In Folsom there is a card room at the Folsom lake bowl, They play with those Poker Tek computerized tables, normal game there is 2-3 NL, 200 max buy. (i did a report on it, you can search my post to find it)Jackson Rancheria is good but about 45 minutes away, dependning on where you are going to be exactly, I have not been to cache creek in a while. And if my buddys have a game we have a kick *** 1-2 PL dealers choice game in Discovery Bay, about and hour from sac.PM me if you want more info.

Again, depending on where you are exactly there is a poker room called Dueces Wild in Auburn (about 30 minutes or so up I-80 East towards Reno) that isn't real big (6 or 8 tables) but they have a very friendly staff (floor and dealers) and a very beatable 1/2 NL game with a $50 - $200 buy in. They also have a $500 max and, on weekends/some week nights a $1000 game. Not sure if they get limit games going or not. They also run good daily tourneys if that's your thing.First visit there I was only able to play for about 4 hours and left +$500, second time +$250. Only two times I've played there since I moved away a few years ago and just found the place last summer while there visiting.Dueces Wild Casino 13483 Bowman RoadAuburn, California 95603-3149General Information - (530) 885-3627Table and Poker Games Omaha Pineapple PokerTexas Hold'em Also, I haven't played there yet but there is an indian casino in Lincoln (20 mins or so from Sac) that I understand just added a poker room within the last few months. I'll be down there the week of July 4th and plan on checking it out and playing at Dueces Wild.GL

If you can't beat 1/2 at Jackson Rancheria...plz quit life immed____But as I said the only true NL cash game in Sacramento is at the Phoenix Casino...its a 200 max buy in 2/2 and soft as hell. lol @ 2/5 $200 max buy in....FK Lucky Derby its a sh1thole and they make you arrive 2 hours early for their tourneys. I can't stand that place. The dealers are a bunch of Pai Gow degens and I don't trust that place one bit. Even the 'no bust/joker' blackjack game is a joke there...they must make money hand over fist. If you can't make it to Jackson Rancheria or Cache Creek then I would strongly recommend you stay away from the Lucky Derby....The Phoenix has a comfortable room with friendy dealers, a full bar and good food.

I agree with the Lucky derby comments, I just wanted him to understand there are more options that risking auburn bvld. with a bunch of cash. The Folsom lake bowl is weird but if you are an internet player, then you might like it more, I did not. The casino in Lincoln is Thunder Valley, and unless they just added it, they did not have any card room.Trinity, where are you from?

Im sorry I just don't 'get it' when it comes to these automated poker video machines where you sit at the same table as other players and play on a video screen....To me that just sounds totally fkn retarded. Whats the point of playing live if you dont get to feel real cards and play with real chips...that idea always seemed ridiculous to me and still does. They won't be getting any of my business at FLB anytime soon.Thunder Valley is a great casino except for the fact they don't have a poker room. (ugh) not sure if they have any plans on changing that it sure would be nice.Guapo, I'm within striking distance of every gaming establishment for a 200 mile radius :icon_biggrin:Oh and PS that part of Auburn Blvd isn't bad. They get some degen stragglers hanging around once in a while but I feel perfectly safe playing at Phoenix....probably gonna pull a 24 hour session tomorrow night as a matter of fact :club:

What if the rake was lower on these automated tables? Still no love?

If you are playing Limit, then downtown there is Capitol & Limelight. The Limelight is a popular bar on weeknights so the game is pretty soft as far as limit can get. But, as already stated if you are looking for NL, then the Indian Casino's (Cache Creek or Jackson Rancheria) are your best bet... P.S. Thunder Valley in Lincoln does NOT have a poker room yet.

The best selection of limit holdem is the capital downtown.I personally play the phoenix the most, the offer limit O8/b, limit holdem and of course the NL game. If you don't mind the drive, Cache creek is probably the easiest NL game in the area.I hate the derby- too crowed, have to wait forever, but the have a decent amount of NL games going all thetime.

Ok, thank you for all the information. It has been most helpful. I collect a chip from every poker room I play at so it's sort of a dorky hobby for me. I leave on Thursday and have come up with a list of all the casinos in the area that I will try to play at:Dueces WildCache CreekBlack SheepLucky DerbyPhoenix LoungeMurphy's CasinoLake Bowl Rancho's ClubLimeleightJackson RancheriaCapitol Casino. The following I'm still trying to find info on. Can't seem to find a phone number or online information:Gene's Sierra ClubParagonDon Juan CasinoSun Down CardroomIf anyone has info on those four, let me know.I'll report back when I return after the weekend.mc
