  1. I am sure it is possible. He steams and plays a style that is conducive to large fluctuations in his bankroll. You don't understand how he could be broke? Why? Because he was a million dollar winner? Well he lost 300k in one night on UB. Just about everyone has went broke playing poker, its like a badge of honor. I would say you will hear more about online pros going broke, it just happens. Phil Ivey would go broke then take a telemarketing job for a while to get some cash. This was some time ago obviously, but still relevant.
  2. In Bluff Magazine last month, the Pocket Fives section had a profile/bio on him. They ask the normal Whats your favorite site ect.. One question is Your Favorite Online player? He says "the people who go all in everyhand during the rebuy period, and loosen up the tighter players"Bax is one of the sick ones. He won a bracelet this year at the WSOP in 7 card stud. Big deal right? Well he had never played in a stud tournament before.
  3. I just don't think mike was lying. I have not seen Pharlad online, and haven't seen his name for any of the 10k events so far this year. He is so aggressive that I could see him going broke, I could also see him building up his roll again. Mike is nothing if not honest, if you can filter through all the hyperbole. Just didn't seem like he was kidding one ounce.Martin Piecuch (Observer): mike u play prahlad at all lately??Mike Matusow (Observer): hes brokeDealer: Phil Ivey wins the pot ($200)Martin Piecuch (Observer): no way is he really? The Primitarian (Observer): how is he borke? The Primitari
  4. Mike is waiting to get some money on his FTP account, and while he is waiting he is railing Ivey. So the railbirds are asking the usual 900 questions and someone asks about Prahlad Friedman. Mike says "oh him, yea he is broke." So someone obviously asks if he is serious, and Mike says "yes I am 100% sure that he is broke." No big deal really most poker players go broke at least once. He was a million dollar winner supposedly, and it sucks to hear he lost 7 figures.
  5. You're an idiot. The OP's post is about micro limits
  6. I don't know why they get so bent out of shape. I do know that I am glad they do. People who lose their whole stack, or most of it with one pair is a common mistake
  7. Yes the min bet on the turn means one of those two things. What I don't see very often is someone at micro limits mixing up this play. If you have seen them do it in the past, then I'd say it means the same thing. In this case it meant he was bluffing, and I would assume it would mean the same thing in the future. FWIW, I hate this play
  8. The fact that he is a good player and is out of position, I think you have the best hand here. Checking and calling with top pair here is something good players won't do very often. He wouldn't play an ace this way would he? Finally to the river play, giving him his due respect I would check behind. The question about value betting the river vs "your only getting called by a hand that beats you" is a tough one. I tend to value bet against bad players who call too often, and check behind skilled players. One more thing to consider, how about firing at it again on the turn?
  9. With a pot that big, I would tend to play it fast. There is nothing wrong with checking and calling in these spots, but you should mix up your play with a fair amount of pushing these draws.
  10. Given he attempts to steal 100% you can treat it as a HU match (allowing for the positional changes). Does his raise on the flop mean anything? If it simply means he has 2 cards then you've played it fine.Call the river.I would disagree with the "treat it as a HU match." Even if you think he is stealing 100% of the time. You have to give consideration that everyone has folded, and there is a larger portion of good cards left, assuming that in a 6 handed game people are going to be playing most two face cards, and lots fo aces. This is not a point I would get to carried away with, but you have
  11. I certainly would have bet the flop, but not 3 bet. When he checks the turn, I would say 70% of the time I would bet, 30% i'd just check behind him. I just don't like to get carried away in these battles of the blinds. I also don't like putting in all those bets with ace high. Once you make a pair though I wouldn't mind slowing down, the pot is already pretty sizeable.
  12. Its been said to bet the river.
  13. You say you would check/raise the CO if he bet, what about the button? I would say 80% of the time I would lead out, and 20% try to check raise. What could be a problem here is that you have 3 people who called 2 bets cold. I would say at least 2 of them made a bad play, but I don't know what they have. In general calling 2 bets cold is a bad play, but the CO gets priced in basically. The problem is that people cold call 2 bets with hands that the flop could have hit.
  14. No the pot is not too small to raise. I think that is your best play, followed by folding. The problem is that your out of position if you get 3 bet. If you are behind at this point you have an overcard, which would most likely make a winner if you hit 2 pair, and you can add another out for the backdoor spades.
  15. If you don't think Chad is good, then your not paying good enough attention. He plays in big cash games in So Cal, and holds his own. He is becoming a very good tournament player, obvious by all the money he has made over the last 12 months.
  16. There is basically no reason to ever raise less or more?Thoughtful post, and I am not flamming but I do disagree. If your playing at a table and they don't respect a raise of 3-4x the BB then try 5. If they keep calling 5 then try 6..basically I would find the breaking point, even if that meant 15x the BB
  17. Go daniel!! They will have to get lucky to beat you!!!
  18. Brandon Adams is an internet player that has had some good finishes lately. He has like 3 or 4 degrees if my memory serves correct. I know he got sucked out on at the TOC. Lee Markholt is a pretty good player as well, finished 5th at the five diamond this year.Id say that Daniel would have to get unlucky to lose.
  19. Chad is a good player, remember in 2004 he did well at the wsop. He got heads up for a bracelet in 7 card stud. He was up against Ted Forrest though.
  20. Not sure without any reads what I am supposed to learn. You did the right thing IMO. I suppose your saying you should have been more aggressive, and that may be true. First hand though, no worries.
  21. I would at a 6 handed table. I have found that playing short handed, and rightfully so, you won't get an opprotunity to complete. There will normally be a late position raise, and I wouldn't call a raise with that hand. On a similar note, I would reraise more frequently out of the small blind, shorthanded. You don't want to price in the big blind by smooth calling out of the SB.
